X still here. just too much work, and not enough play time. Its really makin me a dull flyfisherman. not sure if I'll be able to make a decent cast after all this downtime. lol

I've lived here in columbia,mo for about 6years now. along with the waters listed by laker67, there is bethel park located behind Rock Bridge high. (Providence Rd. or hwy 163 to south hampton dr. turn w, go to stopsign and turn r. turn into parking lot about 50yds past turn. the pond is pretty good size. ya cant use a float tube, but wading is allowed.) Also there are some great ponds west of town on hwy 40(midway truckstop exit). go about 5 miles west and you'll see a small pond on the right side of the roadway. If you go past that pond and take the first paved road, and make a right there will be an enterance about 100yds past the intersection(look for sign saying boat launch). follow the dirt road around, and you'll find a pond about 4times the size of the one on the highway. It holds very large bass, and cats. There's also a smaller one on the same property on the N.W. corner. Those are the best areas other then the lake at millersburg.

so far I've got lots of scuds(grey, tan, black, orange), and an juan worms in similiar colors. sculpins, and cracklebacks are the others I have. planning for a trip in late summer.

Up here around Columbia,Mo ya got finger lakes state park great for largemouth bass, the Missouri River great for stripers, cats, little dixie for some great bass, and catfish, cosmo bethel park for winter trout fishing, along with 2 farm ponds UM of C operates west of town on hwy 40, which holds some very large bass. you can find more info at www.fishingworks.com

I seen that yesterday in the Columbia tribune. way to go!! Im glad more youngsters are getting involved in these issues instead of sitting in front of the tube. I'm pullin for him.

I myself live in the N.central part of Mo. there are plenty of places to fish up here, but think that the forum really should be kept the way it is. The reason being, is that it's called Ozark Anglers. I understand why you'd want to expand the site, and too a point I also agree. But, why not try this? Us fly fisherman from other areas will post regularly (sorry ducky, that leaves you out on this one ), and if there are enough posts in a given area, or body of water, then create a listing for it. I personally visit the site, so I know what to expect when I go down to branson to do a little fishing. Perhaps a sister site, dedicated to midwest locals possibly??

thanks for the tips. I've only been there once, and that was back in oct. So I'm pretty sure where ur talking about parking the truck. with this winter weather the company I work for isnt sending us down that way(babies), and being me an my g.f. just moved into our new place finally, I probably wont get a chance to get down there now till around spring time now. maybe I can sneak down there this weekend.

Being that I live up in columbia,mo it takes me about 4-5hrs to get to tanney. So I was wondering what the best times to go fishing would be. I know that the generation has alot to do with the best times, but not sure how to read the tables. One option I have is that I'm a truck driver who gets around the area quite abit, just unsure where I can park a 70' rig anywhere close.

I've been wanting to get a new fishin vest for awhile now, and figured now is the time to get serious about getting one. I've seen a few great ones from fishpond I'm lookin at. either the wasatch, or open range seem to be the best choice for me. My main components im looking into are a bladder for drinks, plenty of room to store all my gear(right now I got a shorty wading vest), and something that is adjustable so it can be worn in the winter time over a jacket. leaning towards a tech pack, seeing as how they have backpacks as well for all day trips.

it takes me about 4hrs to get to taney from columbia,mo. If they're gonna limit the number of fish by the number of tags sold, I dont think that will really be a problem. Now, if they limited the number of fish, by the actual number of visits to the water, then yes, I would agree that we're in for some hard fishing in '09

Im gonna be heading down to taney next week to do some fishing on sun and mon. was curious as to where I can find a camp site that still lets you pitch a tent. All I'm finding are Rv sites. are there any areas in Mo that allow tent camping? If so, where are they located, and how much do they charge for a nite?

If I wanted something that a shop doesnt have I generally ask if they can get it for me. I mean after all, the reason we go to the shops in the first place for me anyways, is the experience, and knowledge I can gain from there. many times I have gone down with a question and had it solved within a few minutes. Perhaps an order sheet would work. If someone wanted an item you dont have in stock, or dont carry, and needed it shortly they could still get it from you, and not have to go to a competitor. I personally prefer to go to a local shop where I can see my selection and know what Im getting, then order something online, and not know for sure if its what I particularly want. thats my two cents. p.s I agree with gavin. I used to live in S. Cal. near a big fly shop down there. It took me 3hrs to get through there. small shops are great. more personal, and able to assist the customers better.

Had a trip planned right after the season started this year, but unfortunatly the trip that was planned was canceled out by the flooding. So now I'm gonna be taking a trip in about a month from now, and hope that the weather is good enough for this trip. What kind of fllies should i tie, and in what sizes do I need em in?

Columbia,Mo. not much for trout fishing at all except for the off season park. So am hoping to get down to Tanney, or Bennet Springs before the winter freeze starts up for a few days on the water. Otherwise I'm doin alot of Bass, n gill fishin in the nearby ponds and lakes around here. Oh, and Im an optimist, so I always hope for the 366 days in a year. lol

hello group. I've lived in the mid mo area for a few yrs but just recently moved back after being a long haul truck driver for a few years. Now Im here to do some serious fishing, and see how many days in a year I can spend on the water. My goals 365 days .
