  1. That's pretty much all I know of. I think Prarie Creek has a shop. Also there is Bryce down at the Beaver Dam Store. Hook, Line and Sinker has two shops, so if one doesnt hae what you are looking for, you might check the other. Edit: Rogers Outdoor Center(across from WalMart and behind Andy's Frozen Custard carries a good line of rods and lures.
  2. Now thats Bull Sh*t. Which outfitter was this? Tyler to Maumee I am guessing wild Bills?
  3. I am thinking about implimenting this SWEET FLY as a dropper under the coffee bean fly.
  4. Honestly......I am pretty sure Ranger is in good shape. Not perfect, but good. Genmar went in the hole because they overextended themselves into to many genres of boat. The way Ranger works, there is no boat built that is not ordered. All boats have to be ordered by the dealer or customer. Basically this means there are no boats laying around at the factory. The cost goes to the dealership for the most part. The other companies that Genmar owns do not run production this way. All that to say......I dont buy the "ranger wanted to move it to save costs". I think of Hot Springs as more of a travel destination than Rogers and alot more for out of towners to do. Just my humble opinion. It will be odd not having the circus though.
  5. I wasnt sure how many of you knew or would care, but there will be no FLW Tournament next year. They decided to move it to Lake Quachita. I think the big bass boats get obnoxious on teh water during the tourney, but it was a big source of revenue for the city and local businesses. Here are a few articles about the subject: http://www.4029tv.com/money/20055117/detail.html http://www.kfsm.com/news/northwestarkansas...0,1956166.story
  6. My favotire "tool" to take fishing would be Michael Kyle......but I dont think that is what you meant. I have to say my hemostats(actually hemos, knippers, etc, all in one) would be my "gotta have" on the water.
  7. Check out these guys next time you are in the area before buying a boat......http://www.ozarkmtc.com/ I dont know about the shuttle costs. Seems about what I have payed anywhere I went. There are only a few outfitters on the river, and they have to pay for their concessionaires license. Not an excuse by any means....just a thought.
  8. It is always worth bringing the fly rods......kayaks will depend on water levels. I would recommend waders and do some hiking along the creek. It is a beautiful place to fish, and not very crowded.
  9. River levels are fairly good for floating and fishing from last weeks rains. Crawdad, minnow and top water flies are the best bets. Larger flies are picking up smallmouth and smaller flies will get you sunfish.
  10. There is still low water at Beaver. They have yet to start drawing down the lake. The water is low in the river and the trout are very spooky. Long fine leaders, tiny indicators and small flies are working. The best are in sizes #18 - #22. Midges sowbugs and copper johns seem to be the best flies.
  11. Bluegills and other sunfish are biting best on the south side of the lake. Small dark woolly buggers and popping bugs have been picking up good numbers of fish. Crappie and white bass have been hitting minnow type flies trolled through the center of the lake.
  12. I agree with the fact it is scented. Could you use corn if there was epoxy all over it? I try to err on the side of caution with such things.
  13. Great report. That is a killer section of water. It is very hard to fish when the water is low, but it doesnt get hit as hard with canoes as some of the others. One very cool thing about the rivers we have here is the abundant wildlife. I almost enjoy seeing them as much as having a fish on my line.
  14. Well of course the Corp knows more than the rest of us......... Great looking boat.
  15. Discharge was postponed till this coming Friday. http://www.nwaonline.net/articles/2009/07/...9rzdrawdown.txt

  17. Just an FYI. I posted this in the Beaver section, but it will have effects on down stream.....Table Rock, Taney, Bull Shoals, etc. http://arkansasmatters.com/content/news/fulltext?cid=239612 http://www.4029tv.com/news/20119994/detail.html
  18. Just an FYI for anyone looking to fish it or those who ight be traveling to fish. http://arkansasmatters.com/content/news/fulltext?cid=239612 http://www.4029tv.com/news/20119994/detail.html
  19. As of yesterday, they had not started the 24/7 running of the generators.
  20. IMO..... This statement is about as far from teh truth as it could be. Waterpatrol is definately a necessity.
  21. Ryan Riley and myself snuck out Saturday morning to do a little warm water wading. I had been neglecting the smallies and panfish and decided it was time to revisit them. I also needed an excuse to break in the new ZAxis 9' 3wt I had recently acquired. It was gorgeous weather and with these smaller creeks, you rarely ever see anyone else. We were throwing all sorts of terrestrial patterns with abundant success. My favorite was a ant pattern. About the time it hit the water, the fish would attack it. What a blast. Size wasnt an issue on this trip. It truly was the old "just glad to be out fishing". Probably 40+ fish caught on a few miles of stream. Here are a few pics.
  22. http://www.flyfisherman.com/midwest/dwcarp/index3.html http://www.madriveroutfitters.com/c-219-carp-flies.aspx http://www.flyofthemonthclub.com/store/pro...;category_id=82 About any of that would be a good start. The main issue I hear is that they are very spooky. Also the fact that when distressed, they secreet a pheremone that will cause the other carp in the area to stop feeding.
  23. Whitlock has a few carp patterns.....he is a carp junky.
  24. This is totally out of left field, but could it be setup for the left hand versus the right(I am assuming you are right handed). On most reels you can setup for left or right, and if somewhere along the way, someone swapped it over to the other hand, then tightening the drag wouldnt matter. Is there an affect on your reeling of the line in? I know this is kinda elementary, but worth a mention.
