  1. first of all, oil is proven to contaminate water. If I were to dump oil into a lake it could kill fish. You say that I say "in the same breath", but there is a period there and I simply made the statement that using the lead in the lake is not harmful to the fishing, and I have seen no studies to suggest otherwise. I don't have my exact words in front of me, but you seem to be trying to argue that both are the same type of pollutant. I have to disagree with you. Oil is very harmful to water when dumped into it, a lead weight dropped into water does not seem to have any ill effects. Your argument as the age of earth is off topic and I don't see where it has anything to do with a lead ban. I can argue that one thru email if you wish to continue with this discussion. As far as your argument as to where to buy tungsten spinnerbaits. I can get you all that you want. It's not a hard thing to find, you just need to take the time to google tungsten spinnerbaits when you are not trying to save the world LOL. That was just a joke, but you can buy non lead fishing equipment, but you have just chosen to use lead. And just because someone is a scientist doesn't make them know the truth about everything. Check it out, they are wrong all the time and will continue to be wrong on lots of things that we don't have enough info about.
  2. Very well put wayne, I have never heard of anyone that knows what they are talking about blaming lead problems on an 1/8 oz bullet weight.
  3. OK, this is it then I'm going back to the Stockton forum where I belong. Before I get told to go there. I saw this and figured this is the answer to the lead ban. Here is what them scientists are going to try to sell us now... "Some scientists have speculated that effects of humans - from hunting to climate change - are fueling another great mass extinction. A few go so far as to say we are entering a new geologic epoch, leaving the 10,000-year-old Holocene Epoch behind and entering the Anthropocene Epoch, marked by major changes to global temperatures and ocean chemistry, increased sediment erosion, and changes in biology that range from altered flowering times to shifts in migration patterns of birds and mammals and potential die-offs of tiny organisms that support the entire marine food chain." OK, I personally believe in God and that he made all of this that we live in and see around us. Some mistakenly believe in a large explosion blew an ape apart and it landed unharmed all over the world and grew up to work for the govt, or something like that. But either way, this proves we can use lead. If I'm right then God has everything under control. If they are right, then when we enter the anthropocene epoch age, then all the lead will melt from the heat (also known as the end of times if you believe in God) You see, if you read the above from these very smart people (sarcasm), then you will see that the shifts from the migration patterns of birds and mammals would lead them away from us dirty filthy humans and thus, they would be far away from our lead litter that we made up. Either way, problem solved. Ready, aim, cast away!!!
  4. Check your inbox for a pm from me. I sent you some details. Good luck
  5. Then I say we start a group that bans all liberal groups that are interested in banning anything that we don't want banned.
  6. If you are into catching the white bass this time of year, go to where they usually surface. Over the past 2 weeks, the fishing has been excellent on cloudy days and early and late. Had 15 large fish this evening, and who knows how many thrown back. Throw rooster tails or something like that at them and you can really catch fish on just about every catch. It is an excellent time to take that kid or kids out fishing. It doesn't get much better than seeing a 5 year old catch a 2 lb white bass on a square bob underpants rod (or whatever his name is) The walleye, crappie and bass were all the same as the last report before the rain. Gonna go out tomorrow and give it a try so will let you know if anything changes.
  7. The only waterfowl I've ever seen talk was donald duck and I never heard him complain about lead.
  8. August 26, 2010 Water temp 85 We are about 2 low Walleye are good to excellent on 1/8 oz jig heads and a 1/2 night crawler. Fish 15 to 20 foot of water on the bottom on main lake points and flats. You will catch several smaller fish, but the big ones are in there. Had some people out last 2 evenings and yesterday morning and they had at least 3 each on 4 hr trips. Lots of big crappie are hitting on brush piles in 15-20 foot of water. Use 1/16 oz jigs or a slip bobber with a minnow. Bass are hitting crankbaits, and plastics on deep main lake points in 20 foot of water and in main lake brush piles.. Catfish are excellent on fresh shad drift fished over main lake flats. Awesome bite and great to take the kids fishing. everyone is catching something. white bass are excellent in the evening where surfacing. use a rooster tail and you can get one every catch. We are coming into that time of year where lots of fish can be caught. Remember you need to follow the shad and the fish shouldnt' be far behind. or under. Use these fishing reports to give you a general idea, but remember that as the water cools, the fish will move. If you don't have any luck deep, move up a little shallower. Oh yea, and never be ashamed to wear a lifevest!! Give me a call if you have any questions.
  9. the sea kitten fish off is oct 9th, safe light to 3pm ruark bluff. all kittens will need to be 15" long, and please treat all sea kittens with respect. Don't talk bad to them just because they are smaller sea kittens. Any questions as to if you qualified send me a message, email or call me. This is the end of the year tournament, team format, and you must have qualified AND have your partner in the boat with you (this is just to clarify since we had a problem last year) I will post everything about the tournament in another week or so, but it is oct 9th. Thanks
  10. Got out for a little bit this evening. Water temp was 85 and teh water was .5 foot low. clarity was about normal. Caught several walleyes an 1/4 oz pony head jigs with crawlers drifted across the humps and flats in 16 to 20 foot of water. several good fish caught, but lots of lil ones. Crappie are biting jigs in 20 foot brush piles lake wide. Big fish and great catching. just have to find them brush piless.. I can help if you want to go on a trip, just let me know or I have some cards with brush piles on them that you can get. just give me a call catfish are good on shad drift fished on the flats in 20 foot or less. several big cats getting taken. good luck to everyone and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks
  11. WOW i'm just glad I took the time to post this one. No telling how many responses we might have on this. Personally, don't agree with PETA. Waste of money and time. I am getting ready to eat some ribs and fry some sea kittens for dinner. In the morning I will eat some sausage and eggs and then I'm going after some more sea kittens. there ain't nothing wrong with going fishing and eating fish, meat, pork, chicken or wearing any of the furs (although I can't afford them unless its a coon skin cap) See you all on the lake and don't forget to practice catch and release or take some home for dinner. A little management is good, but peta is ate up with the dumbs.
  12. had a 5 lbr last night and 3 other keepers. Don't know why but they seem to be biting better all the sudden. I think cause I've been calling them sea kittens and they seem to like that better.
  13. On a guide trip this past monday and was told that peta was trying to change the name of fish because they didn't get enough respect. I figured it was a joke, but it's on their website. So guess for no2 on instead of going fishing, we all go trying to catch a few "sea kittens" I knew they were all a little wacko, but calling a fish a sea kitten is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Never seen them protesting outside a bait store trying to protect the lonely night crawler, but looks like it's coming. Good luck sea kittening this week. They are biting and the sea kittens with the teeth (used to be called walleye) have been biting better the past week... Frequently Asked Questions Isn’t eating fish good for your health? Fish absorb all the contamination from the water they live in, so fish flesh is laced with toxins such as mercury, lead, arsenic, PCBs, pesticides, and even industrial strength fire-retardant. Just two servings of fish per week can elevate your blood mercury levels by 700 percent, and study after study has linked fish consumption to fatigue, memory loss, and decreased mental function. Click here for the facts about fish flesh and your health. So what does the fish industry have to say for itself? It ignores the fact that fish flesh is toxic (the breast milk of some Inuit tribes is so concentrated with poisons from their fish diet that it meets the Environmental Protection Agency’s standards for toxic waste) and points to small amounts of omega-3 fatty acids in fish. But you can get plenty of omega-3 fatty acids in nuts and leafy green vegetables … without losing your mind. What’s wrong with catch-and-release fishing? Have you ever seen an injured dog who has been hit by a car or a cat who’s been seriously hurt in a fight? Unless they are treated by a veterinarian, these animals are likely to die from their injuries. Fish are no different: A hook through the mouth causes a serious and extremely painful injury that is often fatal without treatment. But anglers just toss injured fish back into the water—often without realizing what they’ve done. In addition to the wounds that are caused by the hook, fish released after being caught can suffer from loss of their protective scale coating, dangerous build-up of lactic acid in their muscles, oxygen depletion, and damage to their delicate fins and mouths. Upon being returned to the water, these fish are easy targets for predators and other fishers. Researchers at the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation found that as many as 43 percent of fish released after being caught died within six days. Catching fish is cruel and unnecessary, whether they are killed on the spot or thrown back into the water, injured and exhausted. Didn’t Jesus eat fish? It’s an interesting question, but Biblical scholars agree that the appropriate question for Christians is, “What should we be eating?” The Bible clearly says that our bodies are temples and that we should take care of them. Yet it’s a fact that all fish flesh today is contaminated with heavy metals and other toxins. In fact, fish flesh is just about the most polluted thing that humans put into their bodies. On that basis alone, Christians should not be eating it. Today’s fishing practices are also horribly cruel to God’s creatures. God cares for all His creatures, and the Bible counsels compassion for all beings. We all understand that it is immoral and contrary to Christian mercy to torture dogs and cats. It is equally unchristian to torture and kill (or pay others to torture and kill) fish and other animals. Although they may not be able to scream out in pain, fish have the same capacity for suffering and the same right to compassion as all living beings. 14. crappie and white bass hit today. Had a couple different trips and everyone caught fish. White bass were up early, but bit great at sunset. the early bite was ok, but not great. Crappie were in 20 foot still. lots of nice fish and lots just under the 10 inch limit. lots of pleasure boaters that are unable to see 3 guys fishing from a 21 foot boat, so be careful!! going to bed now, see you all out there tomorrow evening!!
  15. Water temp is about 86 and the lake is 2' high To catch a walleye is a great question. After the best spring and early summer i've ever seen, the walleye have been a little slow. 1/8 to 1/4 oz jigs with a crawler has been the most effective. the people trolling have been saying they have been picking up white bass, but very few walleye in the last week. The walleye that have been caught have been in 24' of water around main lake points and flats. Sorry can't give you better info than this, but it has been tough for the past 2 weeks. Bass are still a little tough also, but the bigger fish have been in brush piles 20 foot deep and hanging off ledges and deep points. Several fish are coming on dd22's and large worms. try to parallel the ledges and bluff drops and cast across the points. Windy points seem to produce better fish. Crappie are still biting after the rain, however they are not as active. Jigs and minnow fished in the main lake brush piles are producing some really nice fish. It is very possible right now to catch a limit of fish, but plan on being on the lake at 530 and you will have lot better luck. The afternoon bite slows until just before dark. Night fishing in the same areas is going very good. Drop a light and fish verticle. White bass are surfacing in the mornings and will hit pretty much anything you can put in front of them that looks like a shad. This morning they were all over the place from 60 foot of water up to the points. I wasn't ready for them, was going crappie fishing, but I will have stuff tied on for them tomorrow morning, which should keep them from comeing up like that again. Catfish are very good on fresh shad drifted over the flats and points in 10 to 15 foot of water. Lots of nice catfish being caught and if you have a couple people in the boat you can stay pretty busy catching fish. Good luck to everyone and see you on the lake.!!
  16. That shockley guy is all laid up and bored. you can't listen to him cause he aint got nothing else to so all day but play on the computer. However in this case, what he has said is pretty much right on, however it was a lucky guess. I've been using jigs only and catching them about a foot off the bottom in 20 foot brush piles. and it seems that most of the white crappie are on the brush. the shad only adds to the bite. the crappie don't hit the healthy shad, just the injured dieing ones. so the reports of "to many shad" i don't believe, it takes shad to draw in th fish to get them together. then you drop down and act hurt, then you will get bit. if you are getting on the lake after 9 am and leaving before 6 pm then you are probably, i say prpbably because someone always proves me wrong when i say always, not getting them my bite is over before 10 am or so and picks back up after 6 pm. the bite in between is very very lite, and you better be ready with the hook set. i'm going out at 6 in the morning. i will be in my stratos with 225 etec and a guy and girl should be with me. if you see me feel free to stop by and say hi and do what i can to get you on some fish. and yes i have noticed that when they are pulling water the main lake bite is tuff. soemthing to think about if you are going out for the day good luck and keep the hooks sharp
  17. ive been fishing early and late for the crappie, but none at night. shouldn't matter, they are in 20 foot brush piles 1 to 2 cranks off the bottom. hit the right pile, and you will get a limit pretty fast.
  18. I hope you didn't show up to fish. Had 2 boats call with trouble making it and we have only been getting 7 boats per night so I really hope I didn't get you to the ramp and nobody was there. If so I am very sorry. and I have to agree with the fall and winter thing. this hot weather is doing me in!!
  19. Hey do to lack of boats on thursdays and several of our regulars have boats down we will not be fishing the rest of this year unless you have qualified for the fish off. Sorry for any inconvience.
  20. Hey do to lack of boats on thursdays and several of our regulars have boats down we will not be fishing the rest of this year unless you have qualified for the fish off. Sorry for any inconvience.
  21. I'm booked the rest of this week but I'm open next week other than wed and thur evening I think. Give me a call if you want to go out, caught some walleye last night and crappie have been biting good
  22. We had 14 fish caught, weighed and released into the lake. we did lose one fish but it was due to gill injury and couldn't stop it. The other fish were released into the lake after going thru a post traumatic stress interview with Brandon Inman. After finding all of the fish physcologically fit for the lake, brandon released all but one back to the water. The results from the interviews will be used for later tournaments to help decrease the amount of stress that these poor creatures go thru. I personally feel they have a great life. They get to live on the lake, eat whatever they want. take free boat rides to activities on the other side of the lake, and then can swim back. Well since all of the bass were found to be mentally ok to be put back into the lake, here are the results. 1st place went to Jody Beach and Jim Flora who caught 4 fish that weighed 11.46 lbs 2nd place went to mark Ruggles and Rob Shackelford who had 5 fish that weighed 11.27 lbs Very close tonight and some awesome fish were caught. Big bass went to flora and beach with a 4.66 lb fish Don't forget next thursday take off 6 pm open to everyone!!!!
  23. I can only hope they bite tonight. I've had 2 bad weeks in a row. I need big fish!!
