  1. give me a call and I will help you out with the download onto your graph. catch lots more crappie if you know where those brush piles are located, unless it's dark and 100 degrees and gilly is in the boat.
  2. Took a man and his grandson out this morning. Had some electrical problems with my graphs, but got that fixed and started getting serious about 6:45 am. Ended up with 5 keeper walleye and 13 big crappie before the heat made us give up. They did about 90% of the catching!! The last fishing report I posted is still the same. Fish are biting great early and late, and on cloudy days. Not sure if they bite in the hot sun, I usually try to get off the water before it gets to hot. Good Luck!!
  3. Stockton Lake Fishing Report 08/26/2011 Lake Surface Temp 85 Lake level 863.37 Normal 867 Water condition is normal to clear With the low water level, you need to be very careful when boating around flats and points. Walleye have been biting great. Fish around flats, points, and channel drops with 1/8 oz jigs tipped with crawlers. I have had several trips in the last month where we have caught up to 20 walleye in 4 hours. If you can locate the fish, you might have to weed through a few short ones, but we are catching some really good walleye. If you can’t get them to hit the crawlers, a spoon ripped across the bottom of the lake in 20 foot of water is also working good. To catch walleye this time of year you need to stay in water over 15 foot deep and I personally don’t fish in more than 25 foot of water. Crappie is another great choice for fishing right now. Main lake brush piles in 15-20 foot of water are producing some excellent fish. In the past 4 weeks we have been catching keepers probably in the ratio of 10 to 1 short. Minnows seem to be the bait of choice for these fish, and they don’t really need to be big minnows. I have tried jig fishing several times, and even talked with some people that have been using jigs, but it’s just not working very good right now. If you decide to go crappie fishing, bring a few minnows just in case. We are catching several fish over 12”, and that makes for a fun day of fishing. Bass are hitting jigs and large worms in 20’ brush piles from the twin bridges area to the the crab tree area. Work the lures through the brush piles slowly. You really need to use the graph and get the lure in the shady part of the brush. This is a great bass lake and a great time of year to catch some big fish. It will take some time to find the right places and the right presentation, but it will pay off with some work. Fish up to 6 lbs are being caught in these brush piles. Catfish are still hitting fresh shad fished on a plain crappie hook drifted across the flats in 15 to 20 foot of water. Again, some good size fish are being caught. Just let the wind blow the boat along the flats or across points and stay close to the fishing rod. White bass are surfacing in the evenings on flats and points from the twin bridges to the dam. I haven’t been up the little sac to verify, but I’m sure you can find them up there too. Just watch for the fish chasing shad in large schools and throw rooster tails, rattle traps, or about anything into the middle of the feeding fish. I had a 4 year old catch a 14” white all by himself using a square bob underwear fishing rod (or something like that) The thing was so stiff I couldn’t even tell he had a fish on it, but he knew. It’s a great time of year to have a fishing rod close if the kid is in the boat with you. If you have never seen the white bass chasing shad you can’t mistake it for anything else. If it’s a large school of the whites, it looks like the water is boiling all around you. Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions and good luck fishing!!
  4. yes that is 4 over 18". My mistake
  5. come down sometime. you are missing the best lake in the state for crappie and walleye and bass. it is on fire!! you will change you view of this lake fast!
  6. lake temp is about 85, and the water is getting a little clear. level is down about 5 foot. walleye are awesome. No better word for it. great time to take the first timer walleye fishing and show them how to put fish in the boat. I had 3 people out tonight for 2 hours and everyone caught walleye. We probably had over 20 total, but of course they were not all keepers. Got enough to feed on though. now you heard about how much fun I had with my group, here comes the way we did it. we used a bottom bouncer with an intense action crawler hook on about a 2 foot leader. 1/2 of a crawler ran straight off the hook, and drifted or used trolling motor to work areas in 20 foot of water. good strong hits, stayed with the worm, and continually put fish in the boat all evening. They were thrilled, and that is what it is all about!! Crappie are on main lake brush piles on jigs and minnows. i put jigs because someone out there is outfishing me with a jig. i hear about limits being caught using a crappie jig. i pull up, catch one, then have to go to a minnow. fish about 18 foot down. big big crappie are biting. very few you have to measure. Bass, catching them while crappie fishing on brush piles. haven't had time to go after them only. catfish are still on the drifting pattern from my last report. you can catch 10 per day!! whites are surfacing. I believe you can only have 4 over 15" so check your rules. don't want ot pay a fine for a white bass. great time to take a kid fishing. right before evening, get on a flat or point, and wait for the fish to start chasing shad. I still have a couple days open next week, so give me a call and I will help you and your friends or family catch some memories!!
  7. lake temp 84 water was clear/normal Walleye started off slow, but picked up about 9 am. we ended up with 5 keepers, all but one on jig/crawler in about 18 foot of water. The other walleye, and the first one, came on a minnow. After catching a crappie on the crawler, one of the guys decided to put a minnow on and try for a crappie, then he caught the walleye. The bite was very light, and most of the fish (even the shorts) were caught after feeling some extra weight and setting the hook. Pretty tuff way to catch them but they still got caught so I guess that is good. Seems like the fish are just under 15" or over 17". doesn't seem to be lots of fish getting caught between those, at least by me or anyone I am taking fishing. Crappie are really biting good. I cleaned a total of 26 fish today, with several over 11". Minnows still seem to be working best, but I have talked to people that say they are catching lots on a jig, couldn't prove that by me though. The crappie are coming off brush piles in 15 to 18 foot of water. The bite was good yesterday, but even better this morning. We pulled 8 big keepers off one spot in about 15 minutes. If you refuse to use minnows, then fish slow and as far in the brush as you can get. If you are using minnows, stay just over the top of the brush. Went bass fishing finally and I know now why I miss it so much. The bass are in brush piles in 15 to 20 foot of water and are hitting on large worms texas rigged and worked through the brush. Some big fish are being caught!! Find some good brush piles close to deep water or ditches, or along channels. Darker worms seem to be working better. I use a lighter weight, around a 3/16 oz, and a 6/0 hook. Some pretty good size bass are also chasing shad. I thought they were whites and had one of a guy throw a rooster tail into them. He pulled out about a 4 lb black. Nice fish, and a big surprise on an ultra light. Catfish are still hitting fresh shad on flats lake wide drift fished in 15 foot of water. Again, some pretty good size fish are being caught. White bass are hitting about anything you throw at them when they are surfacing late in the evenings on flats and points. Just look for the fish chasing the shad. Good luck!!
  8. hey give me a call tomorrow. cant let a 12 year old go out and not catch fish. I haven't been down there for a couple of days, but will make some phone calls and confirm they are still hitting. was going tonight but the wind picked up.
  9. we don't enuciate down here. not even sure what that means. Is it like a rooster tail?
  10. 08/05/2011 water temp is 90 degrees. Level is 3' low walleye are hitting jigs and crawlers on flats, long points, and around the shallow parts of the islands. the best fishing is early and late, but you can catch fish in the middle of the day. the temps are almost unbearable, but fish the brush and logs on the shady side and they will bite. crappie are hitting excellent. the jig bite is horrible, but he minnow bite is awesome. fish from 11" to 13" are very common and fish under 10" are almost unheard of. Of course as soon as I post this the small fish will be every where. fish brush piles that are in 20 foot of water. I have been doing great in brush piles in 14 to 15 foot, but the water is 3' low and the fish are moving to the deeper piles. this might mess up the size of fish a little, but the fish will are still there. catfish are awesome and a limit of catfish are not unheard of. if you can throw a shad net, then you can catch catfish. take a gizzard shad and thread it on a large minnow hook. then drift the flats in 15 to 20 foot of water. this bite should keep up until the water cools off some. Bass are biting, because they will starve if they don't. I just haven't been bass fishing much because of the hot temps. your best bet would be deep brush piles that are above the thermocline. throw large worms and jigs. White bass are surfacing on flats and points in the evening. Fish with rooster tails or small spinners and cast into the surfacing fish. Lots of fun to catch these fish! With the hot weather, it is really dangerous to be out there all day. Looks like we might get some cooler weather so maybe things can get better. also, take the time to mark some of the brush piles that are showing right now. makes some great bass and crappie fishing when the water gets back up!! I have seen lots of them over the past couple of weeks. I have also had lots of cancellations do to the floods up north, and the tornadoes south and then with the 100 degree months of june and july. If you want to take some short early trips to catch crappie or a late evening trip to catch some catfish, give me a call. I have also had some people splitting days with an evening trip then fishing the next morning. Don't get much sleep, but we are catching lots of crappie and a few walleye. I have some openings for the month of august so if you can stand a little heat, then I'll help you get some fish for the kitchen (that is a little play on words) Good luck to everyone, and give me a call if you need any help, I will do what I can!!
  11. Everybody needs to be watchin pretty close When you pull in there And all the other ramps too. If anything looks suspicious Call the sheriff
  12. Yeah I'll try to fix it when I get to a computer. In the meantime nobody throw their kids overboard
  13. I'm gonna try to put a fishing report On here with the voice Feature of my android phone If you see anything that's way of Then that's why I think the last time I get this I report the crab fishing Was going pretty good. The lake is about two foot lowWater water camp is about 88 degrees luckily I install a window air conditioner in my bass boat that's sarcasm if you didn't know. The wall I are hitting kids and nightcrawlers in 14 in a half to 17 foot of water on flats and points. I've also had some pretty good success Fishing with a 1/8 oz pony head and nightcrawler. On days for the wind Is not blowing The fight is getting extremely hard. About the only thing I found that works on these days Is a slow death rig. I don't do much trolling So I can help you out on whether or not This is working very good. Crappie And really big ones thatI Are hitting minnows In 18 to 20 foot brush piles On the main lake. Getting them to hit a crop the g 8 Has been really tough But they will every once in awhile. If you really want a mess Of crappie Then bring some nino's.minnow are hard to stay alive So you better bring some ice Or even an air pump. Catfish Are hitting fresh shad on flats and ten and a 20 foot of water lakewide. Will get you some really good channel cat if you get on the wright flyer. This year I think I've got bigger catfish Or no ok people got bigger catfish then anytime I can remember. If you never drifted 4 catfish All you need Is a little bit of wind Big crappy hook and enough split shot good keep it on the bottom. yourself some fresh shad and thread it on the hook. Cast it out and let the boat Drift with the wind But don't get too far Away from your rod Unless you're wanting to buy a new 1. If you don't catch 1 In about 5 or 10 minutes Then you're not in the right place. This works best Early in the morning Or late evening White bass are surfacing in the evenings on flats. Rooster tails. Small crankbits or jigs all work great. Keep cool. Be safe. .
  14. All the crappie were catching Our troops are in the deep brush piles And most of those you're coming on the nose I'm having a real tough time with a jig bite.
  15. Great detailed report!! I can't stay up that late anymore, but sounds like lots of fun!
  16. I finally got your joke about the crab. I tried speaking the fishing report and my phone transcribed it. didn't do to bad, but I didn't see the crab fishing until just now. got it switched back right. Technology just amazes me sometimes.
  17. the catfish are going crazy. i am booked thru next thursday unless someone cancels, but if you can come up for an evening, maybe we can go get some of them! I thought last year was awesome fishing, but this lake just keeps getting better.
  18. just got back home from a morning trip. crappie were a very light bite, but we got a limit of them and only 2 fish went under 11". That is a pretty awesome limit of crappie. We only caught 1 short fish. minnows by far worked better than jigs. i jigged till my arm was sore and it just didn't work. about 1030 put on the minnows and caught most of them before 1130, so 1 hour of minnows was as good as 4 with a jig. I don't like using them either, but sometimes you gotta just do it. just thought I would give a quick update. All of them came on main lake brush piles in 15 to 20 foot of water. Good luck and keep your hooks sharp.
  19. Lake level .5 low Water clarity is normal temperature 85 degrees Walleye are getting gigs and crawlers In 18 foot of water On point and flats. On a trip this morning We had 4 keepers in the first hour. Had several short fish also. It was a really light bite so you gotta really pay attention free needing it feels out of the ordinary. Crappie are biting great iN 16 to 22 foot of water On main lake brush piles And again 22-25 foot of water In the standing timber From .9 to the greenfield access. Minnows are working the best. But we are picking up some good keepers on jigs. Catfish are bitng really good on fresh shad drift shad between 10 to18 foot of water. This is the time the year Or you can pick up the limit of catfish Pretty fast Bass are still Hitting large worms in 16 to 20 foot of water on the main lake brush piles. After a couple weeks of slower fishing It's really picked up the past few days. I've been a little slow returning some phone calls I completely forgot to call back straw hat but if you have any questions give me a call and I'll see what I can do to help you out And remember never be ashamed to wear life vest
  20. Did everyone figure these spots out? I can help some if anyone still needs itiu
  21. Thanks for the list, but still a little weary of some of these. if you go to the website toptiergas.com and read the requirements for making the list you will see that all grades of gas must contain at least 10% ethanol, and then they list conoco as a top tier gas. it can't be on both websites and be ethanol free, so I am just wondering if the owners are giving us the truth, or just trying to get our money. If anyone knows for sure, would love to hear from them because ethanol isn't good for our outboards!!
  22. my new boat is here, and i have to sell this one. it is going to go cheap, so if you are interested, call me and lets work a deal. the engine has 431 hrs on it. the lower seats need to be fixed, but can be done for about 100 each. 84 lb thrust motor guide. stainless steel wheel covers on trailer, swing away tongue, hydraulic jack plate. humminbird 777 up front (taking the 1197 csi off at this price but can leave for additional 2k) Nice boat for the money.
