Lilly, I believe that the limit for suckers taken by gig is 20 per man. I have never gigged Taneycomo, but have gigged several of the rivers in the ozarks, it is a blast. Great to get a group of boats together and have a big fry afterwards. I have not went yet this year but, will try and get out once it cools off.

No I have not tried that, how are you fishing the night crawlers, are you setting them up like a Carolina Rig or are you just letting the set on the bottom?

Went with a budy last night, had a pretty good fish on and was bring it into the boat when it got off. Was the only action we had all evening. The water was high, and moving pretty fast out of the dam, there was alot of grass in the water.

Do any of you live in the Springfield area, I have about 6 to 7 giggin holes and am always looking for new ones. I don't expect that most will tell me the directions to their honey holes. But am wondering what waters people are gigging in this area. I gig James River a little don't much like it due to the pollution, Dry Creek, Beaver Creak, and Bennett Springs. I also gig the Gasconade but it is a pretty good drive for me from my house. Always wondered about the waters that run off of or into Stockton on the South side. Just looking for any other waters that are close to Springfield.

The Honda EU models are pretty sweet, I was thinking of getting one but would hate to see that nice of a unit in the river if something happened. I expect that I will use my current system this year and maybe upgrade next year. To answer MO Carps Question I normally go about a dozen to fifteen times a year, only went twice so far this year, but am going tonight if I can find out where some fish are that is within 50 miles of Springfield. So if anyone has any suggestions let em rip.

Currently I have 3 500 watt halogens, running off of my generator. With this system I have plenty of light, but I am wanting to run the HID with a few batteries to cut down of the noise. I am thinking of either putting 3 200 watt or 3 150 watt HID lights running off of 3 12 volt batteries, have been told that I will need to by a converter to run the lights off of the batteries. Kind of an expensive upgrade venture guess I will have to save my pennies for a month or two. As far as my results this season I have only been able to go twice this year, I went once to the Gasconade and we limited mostly with hog suckers, not many yellows. And I have went once to Beaver creek, we killed about 25 pretty hard gigging, water was dingy, not many fish and they where fast as hell. Needing the temperature to drop and clear the water and slow the fish down.

I agree with you that these gigs are not nearly as well made and will not last nearly as long, and they will for sure break easier than a hand made gig. I just wish that the Baker gigs where a little smaller, if you don't head shot every fish it tears them up so much that they are a pain to clean. I have one of your dad's gigs and I expect that my great, great, great grand children will still be using it, very well constructed. Well worth the money.

You can buy fish gigs at fin and feather in Springfield, MO They are not as heavy as Don Bakers gigs. But they are cheap at $20 a piece I bought a few for spares. I think that Bakers gigs are well made but they are to big for the suckers that I have been in the last few years, great carp gig if you are in to that. Any of you all every used High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights?? I was thinking about changing out my halogen and tryn them, but was wanting to know if any one else has used them. Thanks in advance.

Went up there with a buddy of mine about 2 weeks ago and I caught one short and a trout and he caught a whale, she went almost 7 pounds and was a little over 26 inches long. Kind of slow but was worth the trip for that one fish.

Where is Moon Shine Beach? What part of the Lake and where is the closest access to there?? Thanks in advance.

We where fishing below the dam on the south side of the lake, started right at dark and fished to around midnight. Like I said I am pretty new to this walleye fishing, alot of casts per fish caught, but it is fun and I hear people pulling out 10+lb fish so that would be a blast to hang one near that size. I am going to pull off my 12lb monofiliment that is on my baitcaster and put on some braided Pro Power, I always used that stuff when I went flats fishing in the gulf and figured I would work well. I am going to try and go in the next week or so, may take the boat and see what we can find.

Went walleye fishing Tue. night, with a couple of friends. Water was really rolling out of the dam, one of us caught a 20" walleye and I had a few nice ones that we did not land. Not much of a walleye fisherman but it was fun and I can see it being addictitive. Any one on here have any pointers I would be open for any advice, going to try and go again sometime in the next week or so. Thanks

Have fished around the McCord Bend 3 times this year I have caught a ton of crappie and only about 5 white bass. Most of the fish that I have caught have been further down the lake. Went Sunday 04/16 evening for about 2 1/2 hrs and caught 6 keeper crappie and a few shorts. Fishing was not that good until the wind died down just before sunset then the bites picked up.

what type of line do you all use for crappie? I bought some of the BassPro crappie line and it is horrible, it is either the line or the reels that I bought, bought some ultra light Browning reels and I have to reline them about every time I fish. Has any of you ever used a light braided line when you crappie fish? Just tryn to get an idea of what I should put on them. Thanks

Thanks Vonreed, the holding water above the Linden bridge looks like great fishing, and it would be very close for me if there was a way to get in. My problem is I only have a small flat bottom boat, which I don't believe would be very good to float a great distance on that small of a stream. I wish there was a place that you can put in that is close to the Linden bridge hole. I guess I will have to do some research. Thanks again

I went fishing mainly for whites on 03/29, had a pretty good trip. We put in the water about 1:30 in the after noon and was out of the water at 5:00 so we only fished for about 3 1/2 hours. We put in at cape fair and went up the James branch of the lake. We caught a little of everthing, caught about 5 largemouth all prett small and caught about 15 to 20 crappie (about 10 keepers). We only caught one white bass, but she was a hog, and even caught a catfish on a crappie jig. The lure of choice was a pink and white bass assassin. Fishing tree structure, finding most of our fish in the transition part of the bank line. Had good weather, (little windy) but all in all it was fun and caught some pretty nice fish, but we didn't find the whites that we where looking for.

I hear several people refer to the Barker hole, can anyone tell me where it is? Is it between swan and beaver or up from swan toward the dam? I am kind of new to area, but love white bass fishing and am trying to get use to all of the local names of these holes. Thanks in advance

Canyou tell me where the Barker hole is from Beaver Dock?
-
When you are referring to the Hwy 10 bridge are you talking about the one that is about 5 to 10 miles above twin bridges on the spring river? or are you talking about the one that is south on the main lake? I put in at twin bridges Sunday and motored up Springriver (what seemed to be forever) and came to several docks on the east side of the river, I fished across from them and did pretty well caught about 30 whites, only kept 10, caught alot of small males. I was wanting a place to put in closer, looking at the map I see that hwy 10 crosses just north of there, is that where you are referring to? Thanks
-
Is there any way to get into the water above the Linden bridge, I know that all of the property on te north side is private property, but can you put in any where on the south or up stream and get down to it. Has anyone on here fished it? if so what is it like? Am I right to assume that they can not make the river private property?

Just stopped by Fin & Feather and they have about any color you would want. Got some of the smoke with metal flake and talked to a guy who had been going over to Grand lake in OK and he said that they where using a yellow and white color, so I picked up a bag of them also. I was thinking about taking a ride over to Grand, was told that they are catching them where the Spring river and the Osage feeds into the lake. Has anyone on here ever fished there and where would be a good place to put in. I only have a small flat bottom with a small out board and a electic trolling motor, so I would like to put in close to where the fish would be (a short trip is a long ride in my boat). Thanks

When you are bumping them off of the bottom for White Bass do you run these weedless, or do you just run a jig head hook through with hook sticking out of side? Thanks
