  1. I do know that cats and dogs both will follow laser pens. Mike Iaconelli and some other guy on TV say they work.......... But will this Laser Lure work ???? or is it slick advertising ?
  2. Pine Squirrel streamers ? PMS... pale morning stone ? I don't even use those here. I am afraid there is not much to go on.... I have no idea.... Private Message System ?? But that's not a fly.
  3. I'm going to edit my response against my own will. That's just funny though...
  4. I once saw a guy at Rim Shoals in Arkansas fumble and lose his spool off his fly reel. The water carried it until all the fly line and backing were off. 150yds or so. He walked out of the river with fly line and backing in either hand. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen on stream. I would never wish that to happen to anyone.
  5. So we've had seasonal lows in Taneycomo for how long now ? It's great that they are recognizing it in Arkansas.... but seriously... MO has substantial water quality issues.
  6. 38.8lbs caught on a marshmallow / corn sandwich down in Arkansas. Was it Huey Manley ? Not long before the same thing happens here. Probably gonna happen off your dock someday Phil.
  7. I'm not sure why they are doing it either. Something to do with the raceways being too small. (they are replacing the aquirium glass, so they can't hold em)
  8. 20 plus pounders..... I think I've seen 2 swimming. Not counting the 4 or 5 in the hatchery aquirium. By the way - they are turning 90% of those fish loose this week.
  9. fishinwrench wrote : "Obviously it is a technique for a few specific conditions...not all, by any means. " Not correct, its a technique for any water ... really. Low, high.. swift, slow.... anytime.
  10. dgames wrote - " When using 2 flies, I also usually go 1x smaller for the 'between flies' tippet than I use to the top fly. For example, if I am using 6x to the top fly, I go 7x for the dropper. This way I only lose 1 fly if I hang the bottom fly and I feel it also provides less drag on the top fly. " Excellent advice. Exactly what I do - unless the waters running. Then I use same size.
  11. Fine then. We agree that you disagree with two fly setups. Still no reason to kill others confidence.
  12. " per chance " ??? Lining up is exactly what I'm doing fishing a dual rig. That's what you do sometimes to catch trout.... no ?
  13. Slow your roll, wrench. Advice should be given from experience. I get plenty of fish on the first bug... scud / sowbug and anything as a dropper.
  14. Everyone should try a dropper. Why ? It works. You gotta be able to control one fly to try two.
  15. The gray PT is dyed gray. The pheasant tail is gray and the wire is gray. ?

Al Agnew wrote : " I simply add an 18 inch length of tippet to the end of my leader with a surgeon's knot, tie the top fly about six inches down the tippet with a palomar knot, leaving the rest of the tippet section as the tag end (don't trim it), and then tie my bottom fly to the end of that tag end. " You know - I've spent so long trying to keep the tag end as short as possible on re-ties and dropper rigs.... But that techinque really makes sense. I like it. I'm going to use it. Thanks Al. ohmz138 wrote : " As a tip with tangling less droppers, open your loops up a bit and make sure your not making your foreward cast too soon. " Excellent casting tip. I hope those who read it will try it / do it.

Lets hope for more cooperation on Sunday. Will it get below 699.99 ?
  18. I guess I'm old school. I would never put split below my flies. Here is how I rig : 9ft 5X leader, add to that 16 inches of 5X, then 20 inches of 6X. Add your split shot above surgeons knot from 5x to 6x. Cut the 6x in half - so you've got 8-10 inches of tippet below your split then your add point fly (or first fly). Add the remaining tippet by tying an improved clinch off the bend of the point fly and add your dropper. I generally will fish a scud and a san juan.. or a scud and a midge... or a scud and pheasant tail.. If you're fishing a beadhead then you just tie the improved clinch right off the bend and add your dropper. I cannot see the logic in a proper drift if the lead is at the bottom of the rig.

  20. I use a stiff 9ft 5wt TFO TiCr at night with a Rio Windcutter II flyline on it. Seldom will I throw anything else. Woolies, scuplins, leeches, streamers... the rod handles anything.
  21. For me, it was terribly slow for trout. I'm pretty sure I hooked some trout but they were biting rather shy... not commiting fully to my soft hackle. I did catch 4 bluegill and 6 chub minnows on a Crackleback though.
  22. What a fantasticly humble guy. Must be pretty cool ... bet he aint sleeping tonight... Has he registered on the forum yet ?

  24. That's so funny that guy says " is that including the bucket or not ? " And when Scott said he couldnt remember his own telephone number he was so excited. Should be a new 4lb test line record with IGFA too ? Right ?
  25. I'm pretty sure Phil told me it was 28.8lbs. 38 inches with a 24.5 inch girth !? I might have that wrong.
