    Favorite Movies

Bump. Lonesome Dove was outstanding. Been scratching my head looking for books to read and that one came to mind. I read it probably 25 years ago, and never read any of the others. May do that, and watch the movie again. Watched Treasure of the Sierra Madre the other night. darn. I have African Queen DVD from Netflix waiting to be watched. Anyone else a fan of the "Special Features" on DVDs? I really love that stuff but fear it's gonna go bye-bye as we stream more.
  8. Nah -- Capital One bought the credit card bidness. That was a real money maker for Cabela's. They didn't disclose a price, but Citigroup bought AMEX's Costco portfolio for 10%. Cabela's receivables were around $5 billion, so say another $500 million for that. This is a biiig deal, and Johnny doesn't have nearly this much cash. It'll be interesting to see who invested and what they want, because they'll have a big say in how things go. Just like the private equity guys were pushing Cabela's to make changes and/or sell, Johnny now has investors or bankers to keep happy. My tummy tells me this is the beginning of the end. Too much brick and mortar, too many employees, too much competition. Cabela's shareholders are the winners. Maybe.

    What's Cooking?

LOL. You can't tell it from the picture, but that is an extremely thin layer of taters and gravy

    What's Cooking?

Little bowl was melted butter for the bread. As for amount of chicken: Portion control, baby.

    What's Cooking?

Corn on the taters, then the gravy. It's important to do it in that order ? That was her with gravy on the chicken.

    What's Cooking?

Well it was the full-blown fried chicken dinner at ness BnB tonight. Ho made mashtaters, cream gravy, corn (note placement, both plates; what a woman). Lot of work and a lot of clean up, plus the house will smell like fried chicken for a week, but what the hay.
  15. I've fished Roaring River at least once a year for 15 or so years and have never seen one marked like that there, or anywhere else.

    What's Cooking?

That sounds outstanding. I've never made it, but that's got everything I like in it (well, 'cept the cilantro, but we've been over that already).

    What's Cooking?

No, never ketchup on eggs or mashtaters. And I love ketchup. I've got a niece that puts ketchup on mashed potatoes and turkey. It's no fun looking at her thanksgiving plate. Blech. Now I'll put hot sauce or a good 'taco' sauce on eggs.

    What's Cooking?

That looks pretty dang good. But that corn needs to be on top of the taters ?

    What's Cooking?

I grow them and pickle them too. This year was a bust though. Roasted is good too -- I'll add them to a salad sometimes.

    It does to me.

    What's Cooking?

I like all those things, man. My hate list is short -- raw green pepper, cilantro, Yukon Jack and Southern Comfort.
