  1. "This is the third attempt to get Walleye to stick in Beaver, they are not a native fish like they are in the lakes up North." Actually, they are a native fish to the White River according to Lilly's article in the "walleye" section of the forum. http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5245 In my humble opinion, we have a responsibility to ensure that native species remain in the system after we make changes to it, such as building dams. I'd think the big stripers in Beaver would be more of a threat to the largemouth bass population than the walleye will ever be. WM
  2. You could order some in bulk from here. https://www.walleyecentral.com/classified/new/adviewer.jsp?adv=10642 WM
  3. Nice Walleyes, SS. Those are the two I was looking for Sunday afternoon. If you don't mind my asking, what was the water depth you were fishing? WM
  4. It was a great, although short day of fishing, Straw Hat. I'm just glad I remembered to wank it! WM
  5. Headed down to Stockton for a weekend of fishing, relaxing...and working on the camper. Fixed a couple of water leaks on the camper Saturday, checked the weather and it looked like a storm was gonna pass over the lake about every hour. Tied some spinner harnesses and kicked back in the camper all afternoon. Went out today about 11:00 AM and fished for about 2 1/2 hours. Decided I wasn't keeping anything as I wanted to fish as long as possible before packing up and heading home, and didn't have time to deal with cleaning and packaging fish. Fished a main lake points and hauled in six keeper walleye and two small bass pulling bottom bouncers w/crawler harnesses. All of the fish were chunky 17-20 inchers. They hit hard and fought like they thought they were bigguns'. All were returned to the water and will be there for others to enjoy. WM

  7. Well BB, that first picture tells it all. Either that's a really nice bass or you have unusually small hands! WM
  8. For some reason I'm not receiving your messages. I'll send you one. WM
  9. Glad you found some walleye Bob! I made the trip down from Nebraska this weekend to get the camper set up and do a little fishing. Unfortunatly, I spent more time working on the camper than I was expecting. I did fish for a couple of hours Saturday afternoon. Threw rogues on some points and jigs w/gulp minnows between the mile long bridge and the dam. No luck. Got back out Sunday afternoon and trolled crank baits for a short time. Then switched to a crawler harness, caught a nice, fat 20" walleye right off the bat. Fished another couple of hours and had a couple of strikes, but no hooksets. On Sunday I stayed south of the mile long bridge in 16-20 feet of water. The walleye was released for another fisherman to enjoy. Keep the reports coming. I'll be back in a couple of weeks, with parts to fix the camper and hopefully have more time available to fish than I did this weekend! WM
  10. Thanks Vette! WM
  11. Thanks Bob. If I have any luck I'll let you know. BTW nothing wrong with surviving off of crappie all spring. Heck, I went on a fishing trip one time that we had to eat bass or go hungry. Yuck! WM
  12. I'm not seeing one eyeman. Did you get the one I sent earlier? WM
  13. Could have been a muskie that ate the duckling. WM
  14. I don't know what brand it is, but my boss has one of those chargers on his Tracker Tundra 24 volt trolling motor batteries. He loves it. He says when he fishes in Canada, he doesn't charge the batteries with electricity all week. They do make some long runs, though. He has told me he will never have a boat without an alternator charger again. WM
  15. Thanks for the report Bob. I'll be down this weekend, which will be the earliest in the year I've fished Stockton. What areas would you suggest to target walleye during the spring? I would assume the spawn is over? WM
  16. Looks like I picked the right weekend. Little bit of wind in the forcast, though. WM
  17. Sounds good eyeman. I'll be down this weekend getting the camper ready for summer and fishing a bit as well. Might look for some morels too. Anybody finding any yet? I have a blue/gold/white Ranger Reata 210 w/Evinrude motor. Tow vehicle is gold Dodge 3/4 ton or white Chevy Tahoe. We usually put in at the old State Park, sometimes on the RB Road ramp if it's not busy. I'll post reports when I can, although usually my reports are related to what isn't working! See ya on the water, WM
  18. I've never fished Sherman. I've heard it's a great numbers lake with many fish 1/2" short of keeper size. I've heard that the past couple of years, which is wierd, you would think there would be a lot of keepers in there now. Any more, I generally only fish Stockton, Devil's Lake ND (one week trip every year) and Mozingo Lake in NW Missouri. Hey KCB, sorry for hijacking your thread! WM
  19. I have, but it was a long, long time ago. Walleye Central would be a good place to post questions about Merritt. There are several guys on that site that fish Merritt regularly. WM
  20. I'll be down at Stockton Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning. Will be getting the camper ready for summer residency much of Saturday, so I won't any reports on what isn't working before you head down. I'll watch for ya, I'll be taking my Ranger Reata 210/Evinrude 225 ETEC on it's maiden voyage. I haven't decided what part of the lake we'll be fishing (the wife and I), but we ususally put in at the old State Park Marina. My vehicle is easy to spot...it's the one with Nebraska plates. Best of Luck, WM
  21. I use smoke colored Fireline and Fireline Crystal on most of my reels. I haven't had to change the line in several years. It does tend to fray at the ends over time, so I cut that off ( six feet or so) and re-tie occasionally. Haven't been bit off by any fish with fireline. WM
  22. WB, I can certainly understand your interest in heightening the opportunity to catch large bass in the Ozark's Lakes in Missouri. I pretty much only fish Stockton, and I have to admit, I almost never target bass. I usually load and unload at the old State Park Marina, and I have seen some pretty big bass being weighed in at local tournaments. I would like to see you start a thread to see what the weight of the biggest bass was that anyone has personally caught in Ozark waters, and what the weight was of the biggest bass that they personally know was caught in Ozark waters. You might be surprised at how big they get in the Ozarks, anyway. I agree with many of the other guys, I wouldn't change a thing about Stockton...well maybe it would have been cool if the pike would have survived! Great discussion topic, though. See ya on the water! WM
  23. Glad to see you changed your pic back, Bob. Keep up on the reports, I'll be down the weekend after Easter and I'm counting on the lake being on fire! WM
  24. I don't know Bob, some filets frying in a big ol' cast iron skillet might be more appropriate. WM
  25. Hunter, Here's a link to an earlier thread about this same issue, lots of good ideas. http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21051 WM
