Kwall, I'm in the second camper to the north of you. Mine faces north and south as opposed to east and west like all the others in the row. C'mon man, we need more info from ya! A limit is nice, but how'd ya catch 'em. Jigs, harnesses, rigs? I wanna know how kwall does it! Nice work hooker! You caught 'em in a little bit different kinda spot than I did. That's good to know. They must be everywhere! RM, if you are you are gonna come to Stockton over Memorial Day, you better make some reservations pretty soon. I look for it to be real busy with the flooding at some of the other Ozark area lakes! WM

You'll catch fish on Stockton, Rangerman. Probably not the lunkers you are accustomed to on Bull, lots of nice eaters though. I pretty much use only slow death rigs and always have pretty successful outings. Too bad your not coming down over Memorial Day weekend would be great to finally meet. WM

Trolling motor is still for sale. Will be at Stockton Lake Memorial Day Weekend if anyone needs me to bring it down so they can purchase it! Lol! WM

The wife and I fished Stockton Saturday May 7th. Beautiful day on the lake. Put in at the old State Park Marina (Hartley?). Headed out on the lake at about 12:30. Hit a main lake point and immediately started hitting walleye trolling Bottom Bouncers with slow death rigs, all shorts though. Moved into a secondary point in 15 feet of water, pea gravel bottom, 62 degree water, along submerged brush. Started hammering walleye on slow death rigs (and night crawlers). We got two limits of walleye by 4:30 PM. 15-19 inch fish. Caught around 20 walleye in all, not a single bass or crappie. Headed back to the camper and had a nice supper consisting of fried walleye, morel mushrooms, grilled asparagus, and jacket fries. Worked on and around the camper Sunday so we didn't fish.I believe Kwall was at the campground, but didn't get a chance to introduce myself. Hopefully he had some luck as well. Will be back over Memorial Day Weekend...cant wait! WM

Nice rigs, RM and JBE thanks for sharing! You should hit Stockton sometime RM. I haven't hit any huge walleye there like the pic that Marty posted, but I'm gonna. I really like my Reata Gilly. It's a fish and ski, not a hard core fishing boat. I'm no guide or tournament fisherman, just a weekend fisherman, so it suits me fine. It rides smooth in the water and is comfortable for the wife...although not as comfortable as the Celebrity runabout we had before. I've survived huge waves at Devils Lake with it, and the Evinrude will troll down to 2.5 mph. I use the bow mount for most of my trolling so I don't put a ton of hours on my big motor. One of these days (years) I might look at mounting a kicker on it. If I was a hard core fisherman, a 620 like Rangerman's would be the way to go. For a weekend guy like me, the Ranger Reata 210 is an awesome boat. I haven't been in a Triton fish and ski like JBE's, but I got a good look at one at Stockton last summer. I gotta tell ya, it looked like a sweet ride. WM

Oh Bob, you are too funny. Although Marty told me you were cropped out after you backed off too far from eating the spray from his wake...just repeating what he told me. Yea Predator, it's tough to beat the flexibility that a good john boat offers. Nice rig! Hey Dennis, is that the old State Park Marina? If so, I generally launch there. I'll watch for you. WM

Nice...thanks for sharing the pics. Marty, how'd you get that overhead pic running down the lake, from a bluff or aircraft? I've driven past your house and admired your boat from afar. Lol! Zarra, gald to see another Ranger brother! Those 692's are nice rigs. Have you owned her since she was new? I'll be looking forward to your pics Gilly. I'll be down this weekend as well. Look for me, tan Dodge 2500. We'll be the only two guys from Nebraska at Stockton this weekend, shouldn't be hard to spot each other! I store my boat with A&A through the summer...gravel floored storage units and no varmint problems so far. C'mon guys keep 'em coming. I'm as proud of my current boat as I was my first boat, a 1983 Chris Craft Tara with rotten floors, weathered seats and a 90 horse 'rude. I don't think I have any pics of that boat, and that's a shame. Lets see your pride and joy! Heck, even if your rig is a truck to get you to your favorite bank fishing spot, show it off! WM

Big or small we love 'em all! Stop and say hi if you see me on the lake. Post pics of your rig so I know who to go to for fishing tips! 2006 Ranger Reata 210 Evinrude E-TEC 225 HO WM

Sounds like a nice weekend, hunter. Did ya happen to notice any mushrooms while you were out in the timber? WM

For bank fishing, don't forget the slip bobbers. I started using wave buster slip bobbers a couple of years ago and I really like them. They won't support a lot of weight, but they cast like a bullet. Also if your bait is set too deep, and hits bottom, they lay on their side, so you will know if you need to adjust your bobber stop. http://www.cabelas.com/floats-stops-wave-buster-slip-bobbers-2.shtml Suspending Smithwick Rogues might be another crank bait to consider. I prefer the clown colored one's. Berkley Flicker Shad's have become my go to shad style crank bait. They're cheap and they produce. Purple Tiger is my favorite Stockton color. Chrome Clown and Blue Tiger have produced as well, however I generally troll the flicker's behind my boat. They are supposed to suspend, but they seem to rise a bit on the pause to me. Some stick on weight should fix that. http://www.berkley-fishing.com/products/hard-bait/crankbaits/flicker-shad Best of luck to you, hopefully I'll be down to Stockton for the first time this year next weekend. Have been talking with some guys at work about hitting Mozingo in the near future. We'll be targeting crappie and walleye. Anybody been fishing Mozingo this spring? Any luck? Water temp? Thanks WM

I predict 8.14 WM -
Nice 'eye Dan! Don't even bother seeking treatment for your new addiction...There's no cure and you'd just be wasting money that would be better spent buying crankbaits, trolling gear and other walleye tackle. You also need to take care not to cover up your sponsors phone number in the background of your pics Keep the reports coming! WM

Some of those pre-made bobber knots aren't worth a hoot. Generally, they work fine, but I've had some that wouldn't hold either. Try another one and pull it good and tight. If the knot still fails, throw 'em away and try another brand. Good thing their cheap! I've got a buddy that just uses a thin rubber band to make slip bobber knots. Just cut the rubber band in half and tie it sround your line, it will slide up and down like the pre-made knots. WM

That's easy...a 2011 Ranger 621! Unless you can't afford 70k for a boat. Seriously, choosing your boat is a very personal decision. I would never dream of dropping any of my hard earned cash on a bass boat. But, a bass boat doesn't fit my style of fishing. For Stockton I would recommend at least an 18' glass or aluminum multi-species boat. A Lund like Crackleback's is a great choice, a Ranger Reata, or Crestliner, or Alumacraft...the list goes on and on. I would target at least a 115HP outboardon an 18 footer. You gotta climb around in some boats, decide how you want to fish and then start looking for the rig you decide will work best for you. I have a Ranger Reata 210. It's a fish and ski boat, but it works great for a weekend fisherman like me. I've had it on Devils Lake ND in 30mph winds, so I think it will handle most days on Stockton. Best of luck, be sure to post pics when you buy your new rig! WM

Stockton has an excellent walleye population. I have been boating on Stockton for years, but have only been "fishing" there for a couple of years. The kids are all grown up now, so the skiing and tubing have given way to fishing. I have found Stockton walleye to be much like the walleye in any other lake you may have fished in the past. I troll spinner rigs and slow death rigs with crawlers much of the time. I also troll cranks as well. The wife has had some luck jigging with gulp minnows (she doesn't like handling live bait, but I'm not much for jigging). As far as the size of the fish, I generally don't have many problems boating a limit, however I never seem to catch many above 20". I'm gonna work on trying to find bigger fish this spring and summer...we'll see how that goes. I have a camper at the lake and try to get down every couple of weeks, hopefully gas prices don't hit $4.00 cause I've got a four hour drive. The camp ground won't have water for a month or so...I'll start posting reports then. I have no winter/early spring experience, so as kwall says, do a little research on the forum. lotsa information on here. Best of luck! WM

I wear polarized Oakley Half Jackets. I really like 'em, in fact I'm on my second pair after losing the first pair to Stockton Lake a few years ago. WM

But, the best time to catch walleye in Feb is during a blizzard. Too bad the Ozarks never have blizzards! WM
