  1. 3/16 oz Owner jig head with 5 inch smoke or salt/pepper or smoke pepper Yamamoto grub on 6# maxima
  2. A resort owner told me it had come up a foot and a half after this past rainfall.
  3. To answer your question about the grub at night, yes you can catch fish on grubs at night. Might not be best thing to throw at night but when you can't get anything going trying a grub on some pea gravel banks at night does work for the smallies.
  4. You can catch the Walleye on rogues during the daylight hours if you have some good wind as well. Caught 5 or 6 fishing for bass last Thurs/Friday fishing for bass. Also caught some on grubs as well.
  5. I know for a fact that this is what he was throwing. Mark has done this in our club at LOZ in spring and has done well at times. I believe he likes to throw at the big concrete pillars at back of dock walkways in spring. I believe he throws a 1/2 oz white or chartruese I would think.
  6. Champ, You are correct on the old Curados. Best reel ever made for the money IMO. I think that is why Shimano changed design and bumped up price $100+. I have 10 of the old Curados that I bought way back when Grandpa Pigeons went out of business. Payed $75 a piece for them and they are still going strong. Just bought another one from "PaolaCat" on this board. You will pay $250-300 for a reel these days with their quality.
  7. I had Shimano spinning reels (Sedona and Symetre) which were OK, but went on vacation with inlaws which live in Florida. We were going to go flats fishing so I just had to buy another rod/reel set-up. Was looking at spinning reels and the inlaw said that the Okuma reels are good so purchased one. I now have 4 of them. You can't beat the drag system on these reels, smooth, smooth, and smoother. Price is around $60 depending on which model you choose. Good spinning reel for the money I think.
  8. Yes you will, had a 9.11 at TR in I believe 1998 and RELEASED. I can still see that fish jump today.
  9. I would agree with hiring a guide if you can afford it. I hired Bill Beck and I can tell you it was WELL worth it. The guides on this board would also be well worth it as they all talk when they are out on the lake. I know that Mr. Babler was talking with Beck when I was with him. With what I learned the guy in the back of my boat last spring had a 5.28 lb smallie, this guy was a newbe just getting into bass fishing. Any by the way, thanks Mr. Babler and other guides/TR regulars for posting your reports on this forum.
  10. We were at mid lake. Do not want to say resort because we have been going there for years and are good people, not their fault. Took boats from Schooner and also from Fischer Creeks. We found 2 of our boats floating up against bank in Schooner along with 2 others that were not ours, and the other boat of ours was in Fischer Creek. We believe it was used to haul everything in because it was a single council boat with plenty of floor space and it had a heavy tow rope tied to it. As for keeping our composure, it is and was not easy. One guy he stole from is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet, but when he gets the ugly face you better steer clear! He now knows what this ****head looks like. God help him if he ever comes to the lake we are at. We keep saying to let the fisherman have him, he WILL talk and give up the others. As for the civil suit, I said that to some of the guys. What is the most you can sue him for? One guy lost nearly $7K, another guy $3K and another $3K in hull damage. I believe their insurance companies will be going after him as well? If you see this guy add an extra boulder for us! Tight lines.
  11. The investigation is still ongoing. We have been watching this guy on ebay since after we got hit at Table Rock on April 5th. One of our guys actually got his reel back from him thru ebay and could prove that it was his. We had a 2 day tourney and were going back out Sunday morning when going to dock 3 boats were gone, what a bad feeling. We cancelled day 2 of tournament. I believe they got 9 or so boats that night. The guy in club received his reels thru mail so sending stolen items thru mail I believe is a federal offense. It was so frustrating watching him sell all of these items for thousands of dollars when you knew he was the thief, but we knew the authorities were watching him. I don't think they can get him for any thing but selling/receiving stolen goods as of now. There may be more arrest, as stated the investigation is ongoing. We actually had his address and thought about making a road trip but thought better of it. Not worth going to jail ourselves, we knew it would be just a matter of time. Hopefully they get the whole clan of dirtbags. Like someone said in earlier post this is not first time he has been arrested for this. I know one thing, if we ever see him at a lake it won't be pretty now that we know what he looks like! Anyhow, happy fishing all!
  12. You will not be disappointed with getting one of these guides. I took my father out with Bill Beck 2 years ago and we had 18 keepers that day. Another guy in our bass club has been out with Babler and said he was great as well. A group of the guides all talk with each other on the lake to keep up with the changes for the day if they start to struggle. Good luck with the fishing, this is a great fishing lake with all 3 species of bass to find.
