Got ahold of the Beaver Corp project office. They keep a few of the sites up and running all year, and they are all first come first serve. Thanks again for you all's help

Thanks all, i will give them a call. I have stayed at the Hid-a-way when everything was shut down due to the ice storm, but was wanting something a little more south.

Looking to come down and camp for a week in mid march. Found that all the sites say not available, and that they are only open from April 1 on. Is that just the reservations can only be made for those times, or are the sites closed, water and electric off? Thanks for any help

http://www.beaversafari.com/ This website has some good places to start for walleye, gets very detailed with both striper and walleye reports.
  8. We found them deep in the mouth of the cuts when they werent in the back end or shallow water. Had our best luck letting traps sink down to 15foot or so then bringing them in slow and erratic. Also had good luck on medium sized swim baits.
  9. Camped at Hickory for 6 days and had a blast. Fishing was tough on us though. We concentrated on stripers, draggin bait all over the war eagle arm and even up to around hwy12 bridge and spots in between. Only landed 2 all week and missed maybe 5, both landed around 10lbs. Durning the afternoon we would run into the back of Piney creek and load up on monster whites, also could freshen up our shad back there, they are thick. Also mixed in several largemouths and spots at about every spot we fished up to about 3lbs.
  10. Good reports guys, thanks. I am headed your way tomorrow and will be staying at Hickory for the rest of the week. Had planned on fishing the war eagle for stripers, but sounds like i will need to run up to prairie and give it a try.
  11. This ramp is real close to Rambo creek, is this the one you are talking about? If so it is useable and free. Its between the Hide-a-way and Rocky Branch
  12. How did the latest winter storm treat you all? We got about 5 inches in nw OK, looks like the Tulsa area had alot more, just wondering if the lake got lots of snow or if it ended up being rain? Anyone seen what the rivers look like? Thanks for any info, head that way in 2 weeks.
  13. Man it would be nice to be able to see the War Eagle out of your window. Sweet
  14. I was there two weeks ago and saw several wood ducks, a lot of geese, a few mallards and some odd balls around the southwest corner of Deer Island. Dont know if that is open for hunting or not, but they were there. Also saw 4 does swim from the island to the north towards the mouth of Prairie Creek, would have been an interesting collision in a boat.
  15. We had a tough weekend as well, boated a few spots and some sand bass and missed one good hit on a freelined shad on Saturday. Sunday we did a little better, landed an 18lber at first light on a planer board shad around deer island, and caught one more on a redfin at dusk in the same area. We blanked Monday morning in the same area, and didnt mark much at all so we moved up lake around point 5, but had trouble fighting the wind. We landed one nice spot that evening and that was it. Mud line was just below hwy 12 bridge on Saturday, and was above the bridge as we drove by around noon on Tuesday, water temps mostly in the 62-65 range.
  16. Thanks for the update jeb, that is close to where we plan to fish friday night/sat morning. Looks like the lake topped off around +5ft, i would rather deal with the dirty water than the logs and other floaters, especially at night time.
  17. Thanks for the update Blue Wave, hope the lake is fishable next week. This spring when i came i struggled to find a campsite due to the ice storm, the year before was flooded and when we found a campsite we missed a tornado by about a 1/4mile and we had high muddy water. You all let me know when you need rain and i will plan a trip that way. We are going to be showing up around midnight friday night/saturday morning next week, any updates on water clarity and debri in the water will be very helpfull as we plan to show up and fish through the night.
  18. I saw where Rogers was under a Tornado Warning yesterday, any damage in the area? Will the lake be muddy for a while? Headed that way in a week, hopefully we get a little better weather.
  19. I fish for stripers with spoons quite a bit, but not very often at Beaver. I like the heavier slabs, 1.5oz to 2oz. I make my own with a mold from Do-It. From late summer till mid winter i do best with them, sometimes drop them to the bottom and burn it up through the school, and others more of a violent jigging action and then some days you just barely move it. here is a pick of the ones i use
  20. Thanks for the heads up, we are planning to stay the the Hide a way, stayed there last year and the folks were as nice as could be, but we had just planned on showing up and getting a spot. We will go ahead and reserve one, thank for the update.
  21. Well we have our trip nailed down, going to show up late on Friday the 16th of October and stay until the following Tuesday. We plan to bring a hundred shad or so, but sounds like that time of year shad are catchable out there? We will BYOS for sure, but usually start losing some after 3 days or so. Are the trees changing that time of year? One of the folks going is a big nature photographer and was curious. Thanks all for the help.
  22. Looks like the weekend we will be there will be the new moon; in my night fishing experience this is not a good thing, but usually makes a great dawn and dusk bite. Anyone ever tested this theory at Beaver? Also what depths would you focus on this time of year?
  23. Thanks for the point in the right direction.
  24. Planning a mid to late october trip down your way this year. I have only fished Beaver during the Spring when we mostly target the river run areas of the lake. Do you all focus more between the dam and say rocky branch at that time? Looking to get a cabin for a weekend or so and trying to end up close to the area of the lake we would be fishing. Also is live bait king this time of year? Thanks for any inputs and pointers towards nice areas to stay.
  25. We brought our shad with us from Western Oklahoma, shiners were purchased at hook line and sinker in rogers.
