  1. It's a good thing I don't fish weekends. I'll be getting ready tomorrow to start packing for Sowbug. I'm leaving here Tuesday to help Jimmy T get his booth ready. Plus I'm taking another guide trip with him on Wednesday. Should be an interesting week and the usual great Sowbug. Never a dull moment with T-man. Mike
  2. shows nothing predicted thru Monday night. We've had a consistent 2 units for about the last 36 hours after the last 1 1/2" of rain so it will be nice seeing no water. Of course this is all subject to change and since I posted this .. I'm sure there will be generation. Mike
  3. Got to fish JFK park for a while today. The first fish of the day was about an 8" brookie that was my first brookie in quite awhile. There was another guy fishing that same stretch just a bit below me that got one also. The hot fly today was a red Zebra midge with copper wire and copper T-bead. I got a couple fish also on a UTC olive green .. actually labeled olive green and not olive or green .. with the same copper wire and T-bead. About the last hour before dark I found a pod of fat rainbows and probably caught a dozen of them. The biggest of the rainbows was about 14" and lots of fun. This will probably be the last report for awhile. I have grandpa duties to pull tomorrow .. babysitting a sick grand-daughter so momma can work .. and then I'll be in the VA hospital next week for some testing. Since I don't fish week-ends because of crowds it could be after Sowbug before I fish again if things work out with the VA. Mike
  4. If there is low water and if the weather co-operates, can you imagine what kinds of crowds will be at the bridge and Libby on Saturday? Good thing I don't fish week-ends. Mike
  5. Cody .. when you deal with the Corps of Ingenious there's always a chance something can/will go wrong. Mike
  6. The date for the maintenance is now the 7th of March .. or this coming Saturday. With access to JFK being limited I would imagine that the rest of the public access points will be covered up in fisher folks. The generation schedule has been a couple hours in the morning and again in the evening with no generation this past week-end until later last night. A pattern maybe? I hope so. Mike
  7. I don't know the reason why but the date has been changed to the 28th of Feb for the maintenance. Mike
  8. I have a "back of my truck version" of a Fishpond display. There's the Dragonfly lumbar pack, the Waterdance Guide pack and I just recently .. as a Christmas present to myself .. purchased a Wasatch Tech pack. They will all have their uses and will be used this coming summer. The Dragonfly is my low water set up and the Waterdance will be for shorter days on the water where less gear is needed and the Wasatch will be for all day adventures. I picked up the Wasatch because I like all my Fishpond gear .. including a back belt .. and the choice of water bladder. Mike
  9. Here's 2 articles. Hopefully this will work. By Associated Press Story Created: Sep 2, 2008 at 2:30 PM CST Story Updated: Sep 2, 2008 at 2:30 PM CST Federal and local authorities say they've arrested a missing Arkansas man who faked his own drowning. In a release issued Tuesday, the U.S. Marshals Service said 42-year-old Matthew Alan Sheppard of Searcy, Arkansas, was arrested Friday in Yankton on felony fraud and embezzlement charges. On February 17th, Sheppard's wife reported her husband fell into a river near Heber Springs, Arkansas. He was not found despite extensive searches. The U.S. Marshals Service says Sheppard disappeared shortly after he found out his employer wanted to speak to him about discrepancies in his expense report. Authorities say he is suspected of stealing thousands of dollars from his employer. Part 2 of the story November 08, 2008 For Monica and Matthew Sheppard, a walk with their dog landed them in jail. Former Searcy resident Monica Sheppard, 30, was being extradited from Iowa to Cleburne County on Friday after the U. S. Marshals Service found her living with relatives in the Des Moines suburb of Urbandale, Iowa, last month. Authorities say the couple's Labrador retriever, Fluke, is the same dog that Monica Sheppard reported that her husband had tried to rescue from the Little Red River near Heber Springs on Feb. 17. At the time, she told police her husband - who was facing legal trouble in White County - had fallen into the water and drowned. Rescue workers never found a man or a dog in the fastmoving, 39-degree water. But Aug. 29, members of the Marshals Service found Matthew Sheppard, 42, after they spotted him walking Fluke in Yankton, S. D., a Cleburne County detective said Friday. As marshals entered the home, "Monica Sheppard started screaming, ' He is not here, '" according to an affidavit prepared by Monty Vickers, a criminal investigator with the Arkansas Insurance Department. But Matthew Sheppard was there, "trying to hide underneath the bed," the affidavit says. The Insurance Department became interested after Monica Sheppard reportedly filled out a claim in April on her husband's life-insurance policy worth $ 657, 000, with double indemnity for accidental death. In January, before he vanished, Sheppard had raised his company life insurance policy to the maximum amount allowable, according to the Cleburne County sheriff's office. Authorities did not issue an arrest warrant for Monica Sheppard, who they said was using an alias, until Sept. 23. "By the time the charges were filed [against her ], she had left that area [of South Dakota ]. It took a while to... run her down," said J. R. Howard, U. S. marshal for the Eastern District of Arkansas. The Marshals Service finally found her in late October, when she, too, was spotted taking Fluke for a walk in a Des Moines suburb, where she was living with relatives, said Sgt. Alan Roberson, a detective with the Cleburne County sheriff's office. Now, both husband and wife are in custody, being held on $ 50, 000 bail each. Matthew Sheppard is charged in Cleburne County with committing a fraudulent insurance act and in White County with felony theft of property by deception. White County authorities have said he stole tens of thousands of dollars from his former Searcy employer, Eaton Corp. Monica Sheppard is charged with one felony count of filing a false report with law enforcement and one felony count of committing a fraudulent insurance act or knowingly interfering with the enforcement or investigation of possible insurance-related violations. Roberson said Matthew Sheppard had posted a resume on the employment Web site Monster. com and was supposed to start a new job the day he was arrested.
  10. Hopefully sooner rather than later. Everything with the family situations seem to be slowing down so maybe in the next couple weeks? Mike
  11. I know this is late and I'm sure it's been updated somewhere here on the forum so if it is, please excuse the new guy. The missing man was found in South Dakota .. must have been a heck of a current .. and about a month later his wife was arrested in Iowa. Mike
  12. I have access to a Hach kit that is used to check water quality. I'm trying to arrange a DO test at the dam and in the Pangburn at least once a month. If I can get Bob to do it I'll post. Mike
  13. Thanks Dan. I'm even fishing the "glass" once or twice.
  14. On February 14th there will be maintenance done on one of Greers' flood gates. There is to be a seal replaced on the gate. Access to JFK and the hatchery is to be re-routed since Highway 25 is to be closed in the area of the dam. I don't know what kind of generation pattern to expect prior to and just after the maintenance but I'll post again as soon as I hear anything. Mike
  15. There's a few guys here that know me. I spend as much time as I can on the Little Red. Hopefully Trout Troller .. Cody .. and I can give some fishing reports to help everyone. I've been reading the Little Red forum and it seems he has a good start. I'll be hanging out there giving a hand on the forum. If anyone has any questions don't hesitate to ask. Between Cody and I .. mostly Cody .. we should be able to find an answer. Mike
