Looking For A Certain Strike Indicator
Adam B replied to Adam B's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Zach I just thought that maybe my problem with not catching any fish was maybe because of the strike indicator I use? I just use those little pinch on sticker floats in white usually and I thought maybe they were scaring the fishys. Oh and Zach you think some time next month there would be any good low water for a guided wading trip on Beaver or if you even had a guide available around then? I might hopefully be able to get out of some work. Thanks Adam -
Well... I was about there for around an hour until my Scott rod broke right at the tip! Not good but the rest of the weekend went by pretty well, and sexy too! haha. Thanks for the tip earlier Zack.

Me and my sweetheart are heading up to Sugar Ridge Resort for the weekend and I might be able to sneak down to the tailwaters for a little while. Will the water even be any good or any idea on the flies I should use or the time you think they might be generating? Any help would be Greatly appreciated! Thanks Everyone! Adam

Me and my Girlfriend will more than likely be there Sunday for our first trip to Roaring River to fish. We usually stick to Beaver Tailwaters but we would like to try something new. Maybe I will see some of you guys and I am hoping to make it up to Tim's Fly shop also. I haven't been to a real fly shop in a while. I might have to buy me some good stuff!! See ya there. Adam

Since this weekend is the last weekend to fish the Roaring River I was thinking about finally making it up there since the snow held me back last weekend. I was wondering if this coming Sunday it will be open? I would think it would but just wanted to check before I drove up there. I thought it would be a good time to go since most people would be watching football. Thanks everyone!

Just wondering if anyone knew the road conditions from about Fayetteville Ark to the Roaring River? I dont think it should be a problem so I might try and head up there Sunday afternoon. Any info would be great if you checked the forums this morning! Thank you
-
I dunno about you guys but we had 6.5-7 inches of snow and ice here in Van Buren. I wont be able to make it this time. Hope everyone is safe!
-
I wanna go!! As always the reports are greatly appreciated! I will be up there to get in some fishing time as soon as the water comes down a little.
-
Thanks alot Sir! Maybe I will come visit that fly shop. It has been quite a while since I have been in a real fly shop. The roads or anything arent too bad here yet (Van Buren-Fort Smith AR area) but I have seen Fayetteville on the news and it looks pretty rough! OKC looks like they have it really bad too. But I will for sure check in with you if I plan on going. Thanks alot again. Hey do you have any nice hook sharpeners and nippers there? Or like a good Sharpener Nipper tool? I could buy one from you mail-order or something if I cant make it there. My local place doesnt really have one and I dont want just some junk one off ebay. Thanks once again :-)

The Best Fish Finder?
Adam B replied to solus_vero's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Well it is a little pricey but I have personally owned quite a few Lowrances and I have loved all of them but... One of my employees just bought 2 Lowrance Side Imaging units for the deck and console of his boat and man... Those things are sweet! We met up with a Lowrance Rep at a local boat show not long ago and looked and some more and they are unbelievable. He had some different pictures of all kinds of structures, sunken boats, and fish. Absolutely amazing. But like they say, Its really not cheating but the fish think otherwise. haha Adam B -
So it is still fine to fish if the park is closed on Sunday? I havent been up there much at all, where is this fly shop located at? Yeah I will for sure check the weather. The river is about 2 and a half hours from where I am at. Thanks everyone!
-
Thanks man. The park office will be open on Sunday correct? And they said that place doesn't sell the license so is anywhere close that does if I am coming from Beaver lake area? Any Particular flies you like up there? Thanks again for the quick response! Gotta love you guys.

I was planning on taking my first fishing trip to the Roaring River last weekend but couldn't make it, how do you think it will be this coming Sunday? I know it is going to be super cold but I'd like to try it. The shop and everything will still be open won't it? Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks, Adam

Thanks alot everyone! I really appreciate all of the answers! Ever since I have been looking at this forum you guys have been extremely helpful. I really dont know many people that fly fish for trout so you guys are the best.

Hello, I was wondering what an out of state 3 day pass and park pass costs here? I never really have fished here but I would like to go this Sunday since all the other waters seem to be running pretty high. Anything I need to know? Will it be crowded? Certain spots I need to fish or stay away from? Any certain flies I should bring? Thanks in advance for all the help! Adam

If you wait a little while and hit www.Patagoina.com and go to the top left and look down a little for the web specials you can usually find a 300.00 pair for around what your looking for. There warranty is the best and I love mine. The web specials just came off the other day but they should be back soon if you can wait. Sign up for there newsletter and they will send you an e-mail when they come back. Just my opinion though.

Yes sir about crossing at the Trophy area sign on the turn around I have been there quite a bit on the other side. I have walked down too far before and was it some pretty high fast water trying to get back. Definatly not fun but I am glad I didnt have anyone else with me to not put them in that position. Woo. It made me want one of those inflatable wading belts ha. If you know anything about the drawdown do you think it will be going on pretty heavily or have an idea of the time?? Any info would be much appreciated. I will try some of your tips and some of your reccomended flies I have seen aren't really readily available to me (I shop at The Woodsman in Ft. Smith AR since its only like 10-15 mins from my home), its a small shop feel but my rods or anything else come from McLellans in Fayetteville. There all really nice and the tyer at the Woodsman is supposed to make me up a few. Thanks though I will try it all! I have fished a day after stocking and I arrived at night for an over-night stay and wooh. 6 or so fish in an hour or less. Good times. If you don't mind could you give me an idea on guiding cost at Beaver or where ever you would like me to go? Half day or Full day how ever is good. PMs or anything is good if posting prices isnt a your thing I completely understand. Thanks alot again. It is much appreciated. Looking forward to maybe getting some hands-on info from ya!

Well I only wade in the waters, and I try to wade as little as possible. The 2 most common places i go is just down a little from the new bath houses to where the erosion breaker trees on the right side (if your aiming down stream) are. Just a little before that and at that spot. I seem to like it there. And then also around Parker downstream just a little to where those shallow riffles are and then a little upstream from the handicap ramp where the big deep pools are on the same side as the ramp. I do use indicators, not yarn but those little sticker style and usually only use white ones. As far as casting I try to cast to pods of fish if I see them and other than that i just cast where i see some rising or just to deeper spots. But I have fished some days and landed about 10 fish but never had a 20 or 30 day like i hear some of you guys talk about. But I have had alot of times of 5-6 hours straight fishing and not land one fish. Maybe im just not cut out for this fly fishing stuff but i like it sooo much ha. Thanks Adam Oh and I might have to look you up for a guide pretty soon. I bet I could learn quite a bit more that way.
-
Oh yeah? Thanks man. I've been doing this and practicing casting for a few years but I just cant seem to get the hatch and patterns right. I have so many trout come and take a look at my flies about to sip it in and they just turn around. I have tried all kinds of tippet sizes and fly sizes and patterns and I just cant get the hang of it. I'm probably just going to start hiring a guide and learning from them. I'm not too worried about catching a fish with one I just want to learn and soak up as much information as I can so I can start hitting places all over and not look like a nooby haha. But any and all help would be very much appreciated. Since I cant seem to catch many trout and I go to Beaver tailwaters at least 2 times a month I have just been going for panfish during the week so I'm not a horrible caster. Do you guide or anything around here like Greers Ferry or Beaver? Thanks alot! Adam

Anyone Live In The Van Buren, Fort Smith Are?
Adam B replied to Adam B's topic in Beaver Tailwater/Upper White River
Oh and Natural dam up there is really nice. Fishing has been a bit slow but if you have a kayak when the water is up you can go off the dam like we did haha or take it down to the big part of Lee creek, its the large stream under the old bridge on the way there. -
