  1. Absolutely Mrs.Ducky no tiers denied and all are welcomed. I was gonna have the sign up date a week from the original post but since there was a delay in responses ill give it more time the more tiers the better. Youll see when u get all the new flies back from every one else in the mail!
  2. Randall eight "so far" include one for yourself so that all return sets are the same...hopefully there will be a few more entries the actual number of flies for every one to tie will be determined when the sign up is over and a deadline will be set for tiers to get them done and mailed to me for redistribution... Glade you're excited tho so am I....lol
  3. used to hear one day a year your choice like December 25th lol ....could have been an urban myth tho
  4. the heading "watch your knee caps" was enough to get me to read this thread  so maybe I like the carnage
  5. Randall, I think I'm gonna wait to choose until after everyone else gets there patterns named that way I hopefully don't get anyones favorite fly and they will join the swap. Believe me my three favorite and most productive fish producing flies have already been named which only goes to say good things about the luck people will have actually using these flies. Flysmallie, Wets, Softwackles or flymphs can be as ornate or as simple as one would like them to be the R.C. pattern given above is a example of ornate side of the list for sure, but Danos pattern is comparatively very simple but is also the very pattern (except that I use mallard and pheasant for my hackles) that I have used and catch tons of fish with on almost any given trip. Thanks for participating everyone I think that Im gonna at least wait till the end of the weekend for the end of the signup JJ http://globalflyfisher.com/patterns/flymphs/ Above is a nice link to patterns and there uses http://globalflyfisher.com/patterns/bergman/ And the one above is for those who wanna challenge or to show off some of those hard practiced tallents
  6. sounds great Jody ill add it to the above list
  7. So logged in and "WOW" ya all have responded, finally and over night . So I started a list in the first post to help all keep track of whose gonna tie what good start but we still have room for a few more to enter Thanks all!! JJ
  8. Clinton J9 "Has a arrow head on the cowl" once I get to it while cleaning the garage ill probably have a model number at least. This old fella is a third generation hammy down and haven't a clue about value, actual age. Anyone know a good place to find info on this make all I have found is posts by others with the same questions that I have. Thanks JJ
  9. I really enjoy the writing of John Gierach don't think that it falls under fiction but his approach to things makes be believe we could be fishing buddies. And as far as a good reading magazine would half to be "Grays Sporting Journal". I hope I never miss another fly fishing edition
  10. Well I figured why not another swap. It helps keep the fever away for me. Lets give it a week for sign up (End of sign up Mar 15th)and then depending on the response well set the deadline. 12. Phil when you come to St. Louis your supposed to let a few of use know so we can buy you lunch sometime JJ
  13. Leonard what are your favorite sizes# types X's of hooks for streamer patters I could probably guess since u were nice enough to open your box at the NYD gatering but, Why guess at success ?..btw figgured you might get a hand crafted tin from me for hosting swap so once I get a warm place to paint Ill get thos started Thanks JJ
  14. Beautiful Fish looks like that buck was still in breeding colors and very nice report its all ways great to have pics to drool over. Even tho with this cabin fever I've got. A leaky faucet causing ripples in a breakfast bowl gets me thinking about rises. JJ
  15. Hasn't there been a "No Fly Rod Rule" put on zone three at Bennett (tho its not worded that way) after the new definitions or regulations came out in the last couple of years? JJ
  16. I would gladly take the hook tester job at EgaleClaw even if it evolved a little bit of spilled blood... My father has said for the longest time that after he retires. He wants a job at Wally Word as a greeter. My reply one day was but wouldn't a BassPro greeter be a better gig and he stated "well after the discount there. There prices would still be more"... I should have quit trying to out think "Old man river" along time ago. JJ
  17. Snow Fly beat me to it! To be perfectly honest tho, and I hate to admit it. I've never caught a Trout on a fly in still water, and its a personal goal of mine to do so in the near future even tho it will probably be stocker set loose for the urban fishing program. Sure would prefer that it would come out of a spring fed lake with a reproducing population. I would be happy to trade a dozen or so still water fly patters for a one day pass tho Nice fish and please think a little bit of us poor slobs out here drooling about your pond next time you have a take form a nice one. JJ
  18. Gundog I have used all of the above at BSP and cant think of a single reason why any of them would considered illegal.... hope I never haver to test the system tho
  19. I use plastic baggies trimmed to the approximate size needed most the time! Howdy neighbor , well have to plan a trip or swap a few tying tips over the vises sometime
  20. Every time the Peppy Scud is mentioned. I look at this little schnauzer ( not a true salt and pepper has a little tan mixed in there also ) and think does it need another cut yet
  21. Sweet lookin pattern "Hello my name is JJ and I have a serious soft hackle tying and fishing habit." That said if its not to stiff of hackle. It can be used for a soft hackle. I really think that there effectiveness is more about proper (or which way the fish seem to want them) presented on any given day if you can figure out swing speed depth then hold on to your line tight. Just my very humble opinion JJ ps. maybe there needs to be a soft hackle swap
  22. Welcome to OAF ! Glade to have ya here and I see you've met some of the comic relief already...
  23. Very insightful posts, and Terry where did that fly come from? That is something that just happens to combine my two favorite obsessions
  24. I have noticed the same thing about the "view new posts" not always giving me all the new posts. I'll use the "todays active topics " to double check for the ones it seems miss. JJ
  25. Opening a new tab to at least get there catalog sent. Its been a while since I have gotten one.
