  1. Being a die hard Chevy man, I take offense to the "nancy boy" in the Silverado ad. He looks like the dishwasher at Panera bread. LMAO Can we loose that clown and put Tim's pic in there ? I'm a dishwasher at panera bread and I must say the resemblance Jimmie and I have is striking. Me and Jimmie a couple of nancy boys driving around in our Chevy's.
  2. Glad to have you, lots of good information floating around. Where are you located on Table Rock?
  3. I've had no trouble on The Finley but I have a weird way of attracting crazy locals who give me all sorts of grief. Thanks for the report and your new kayak looks great,I think my friend is going to buy the same model.
  4. Hey man, glad to hear you had a good time and got to catch some fish. Did you have any problem with the locals? That's really the only thing that has stopped me from trying it in the past.
  5. That's what I would say.
  6. There are those who feel that the bio-accumulation of chemical compounds that are not removed by treatment plants or that are flushed down the toilet into septic tanks is a real concern for anyone who consumes fish that belong to the higher trophic levels of this lake. I feel that if this was a real concern there would be a species that would act as an ecological indicator alerting us to the high levels of a chemical pollutant, be it animal, plant or human. While I have not researched this in depth, I've found no published evidence that would indicate that such a species exists. I do know a person that catches and keeps fish from the lake and has been doing it for years and to my knowledge he has no health problems related to chemical or heavy metal poisoning. We had a discussion related to this not too long ago and I'm sure that there are those who will disagree with me. But I feel that if fish are harvested and eaten with moderation then you should have nothing to fear.
  7. Yeah I'm pretty sure you have it reversed, warmer water makes the bait sink a bit more. There's the solution to my problem, these will be the jerbaits I use really early in the year. And thank you again Randy.
  8. Man, I'm so cheap I can't bear the thought of wasting my money. But you're probably right though, if the strike indicator doesn't work I'll bite the bullet and take the loss.
  9. I was thinking today in class that I could stick some strike indicators to the belly. That would have about the same effect.
  10. Maybe I should have stayed at home over spring break and fished Springfield Lake instead of Table Rock. Caught nothing but short spots pretty much all week down there but at least I caught a lot of them. Nice looking fish. I have a question, I bought a couple of suspending rouges in Branson West and they are sinking instead of suspending. I've downsized the hooks and the split-rings but they are still sinking ever so slightly. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get these guys suspending?
  11. I knew it was something like that, don't listen to me guys, I shouldn't have posted anything being that I never fish for whites. Excuse me.
  12. What's that old saying, "when the dogwoods are blooming the white bass are running". I think that's right,
  13. Thanks for the help S&M,I hope this cold weather hasn't crapped on my annual spring break trip to Table Rock. Last year during this same week the fishing was great, if this year is half as good I'll still be happy. Regardless of how the fishing is at least I won't have to work or sit in class and listen to a professor drone. I can't believe Stacy King only weighed in a fish, that's crazy, he's a Table Rock man. Does anyone know the top ten's patterns?
  14. I'll be fishing in the aunts creek area, the closest deep cove with timber I can think of is Hodge Hollow. I may paddle over to the creek arm that's west of the aunts creek boat ramp and fish the brush-pile the MDC put out. Any help would be great and thanks for the response.
  15. Is anyone finding anything remotely shallow, say around 10-15 ft.? I'm going to spend all of next week on table rock and I'll be fishing out of my solo canoe, and fishing deep water out of a canoe sucks.
  16. I bought one of the extreme casting reels about two years ago and it crapped out on me after 6 months of hard use. I would not recommend buying one. I don't know about the pro-qualifier, it may be a decent reel.
  17. That's funny, I have a friend that is looking into getting the fishing model they have at BP and I was going to post the same message you did. Very interested to hear what people have to say on this subject.
  18. Most of the guys at the reel counter seem to know their stuff, but one guy in particular is always really helpful and knows what he's doing. Alberto, when you go to BP walk up to the reel counter and ask for a man named Carl, he'll be able to get you a good reel that fits into your budget. And also I would suggest the same thing sore thumbs suggested, go on-line and read some of the customer reviews that are up. Good Luck
  19. Has anyone been hassled by the locals for being up there? My landlord said he used to go down there and the locals wouldn't be so nice about him using what they thought was their private pond.
  20. "Outspoken??? Well I guess you could have worse. But in reality, though I have a couple on this forum dogging me for my comments, I feel that if there weren't people expressing opinions, weather critical or constructive, it would be the same ol', same ol', herd mentality. Without such disscussion it would be very hard to move forward and grow" (Chief, 2010). This is why I like you Chief and why I think your a valuable asset to this forum. Stand up and be counted, even if your the only one standing up.
  21. I could probably get one Thursday night off a month. Sounds good, but if Monday or Wednesday night is better for most people that would work better for me personally. Either way, as long as the meetings don't interfere with my school schedule and as long as I have enough notice to ask off of work I'll be there.
  22. Of course, of course, I wouldn't expect you to, just kind of curious. I'm dieing to to get into some smallmouth, the LM at Springfield Lake are nice but they are no replacement. Thanks.
  23. How far down was the smallie found? If you don't mind. I was thinking that some fish might come down to the slow water to winter.
  24. I forgot to tell you guys that I was on here in case anyone wanted to get a hold of me. I can't blame anyone for being too busy, the only reason I was able to show up is because after days of begging my boss he let me have the afternoon off. We'll grow, I'm not too worried about it. Gary, if you could let me know about the next meeting a couple of weeks in advance that would be great. My schedule is really tight right now. Thanks.
  25. I usually don't like using an anchor in moving water because of the safety issue, but when I'm fishing lakes I like to have one to keep the wind from blowing me all over the place. I think I may try the dumbbell system that Wayne is using.
