Anyone every tried these? They look almost identical to a sculpin except it is a goby. My link

From the parking lot, head towards the river and you'll see a path leading down to the river. As for where to fish, just start somewhere near your access point and head upstream towards the bridge if you even decide to wade that far.
-
With the water level the way it is, I don't think we'll be able to wade fish for awhile. Hopefully, it won't be anything like last year, with all that running water 24/7.

Below the dam is always a good bet if you will be shore fishing. Keepers (9"+) are hard to come by but they can be had if you keep at it. If the white bass/wiper/striper bite is on, be ready for some topwater action as they turn on as fast as they turn off so I suggest two rods. How do you know when it is on, everyone will be bunched up and chucking at them. If you will be fishing from a boat, you can always hire a guide for a day and going back the next day on your own if the fishes are still there.

Haven't been out in this area since summer but glad to hear something positive. Might have to hit it up once more before the license expires. Any size to these hybrids and white bass? Did you happen to spot any top water action?

Not to take away the beauty of reading a great report but I enjoy these visual reports, make it all worthwhile when I'm not able to put a rod in my hand.

Made A Run Up To Cabelas In Kansas City
Evolution replied to Paola Cat's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Not fly fishing related but did you happen to see any salmon rod while you were there? I should have took advantage of getting one last year but now regret it. Last time I headed up there (July), they really didn't have anything that was appealing to me. -
Indeed cool pix. That quite a bit of water flowing through but on a side note did you catch anything?

Got lyme disease a few years ago and have ever since then avoided going into the woods in the spring until the leaves start to fall down. While hunting for doves on my parents farm in shorts, I happen to forget the bug spray, chiggers had their way with me (ankles). The itching for the first few days were the worst but it has gone down recently. Anybody have any remedies for these microscopic bugs besides the usually hot showers, anti-itch cream, rubbing alcohol.

Haven't really throughly read the MO regulations but isn't illegal to transport live game fish if you aren't going to eat them. This is illegal from where I used to reside in (CO) and would result in fines if caught.

ouch, I feel your pain. I have never caught anything decent there, yet I always go back there for more because I know that there has to be a "big" fish in there with my name on it. Have you ever tried the other bigger lakes around that area (Oogalah, Skiatook)? Usually a hit/miss but I have don't well a few times at these places.

Hit up Keystone dam in the wee hours today even though moon was shining brightly and prediction of rain in the early morning. Saw carps and gars busting shad. Tried to imitate them but no luck. Tried a bunch of lures/jigs but donated a majority of them to the rocks. Fowl-hooked a few gars with rat-l-traps. As the sun started to rise on the East, the clouds started to rumble and overtake it from the West. Right before the rain came, I hooked onto a fish (I believe it may have been a fowl-hooked carp since the same senario happened at zink) and had it take my drag for a long ride before it broke loose. A short while after this, the rain came down and I mean it came down hard. I already lost a bunch of lures/jigs so decided to hit up BPS. Little did I know people in Tulsa can't drive, accidents occurring left and right on my way to BPS. Loaded up and headed back to give zink a shot since the rained started to slow down. The water was very murky in color and fishing produced the black and white except for the fowl-hooked carp which took forever to land since it ran with the current, putting more stress on me since I didn't want to lose this fish. Did a lot of walking and looking for spot so hopefully next time these spots will have a fish with my name on it. The prediction of SWPA having Sat. with little generation and Sun with no generation should make good fishing as long as the weather holds If I didn't live so far, I would probably give it another shot but I'll just have to live through what others post on this section for the time being.

Good Job, Sir. He should have bought you dinner instead but something will come into your favor someday.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the Dept. of Wildlife have a free booklet called Close to Home focusing on fishing in Tulsa. Take a look at it, it has lots of water within the Tulsa city limits.

Way to go, sir. This place has been a hit or miss for me but I haven't given up yet. I know they are in there, I just have to find them, that's why it's called fishing not catching.

Thanks Bill, found the "park" with ease but fishing was a different story. Got there before dawn thinking I might be able to catch the morning bite but no dice. Threw a pencil popper on one rod and everything else in the tackle box on the other. Gave up around 11am and headed to zink to see if anyone was having any luck. Saw two guys wet wadding which was interesting especially with the water flows at 5k. They did pull a few fishes before I left so the fishes must be in there. Might come back to fishing the Ark once more before the summer is over if I hear of a decent report. With more spots to choose from, I'll get them sooner or later.
-
Haven't seen a report of this section for awhile since they are still running water but after doing a little research, I came upon this park which seems like a make or break fishing spot but there is no real precise location of where this spot is located so I was wondering if someone could guide me to where it is located (an address would be great since I can just GPS it)? Are there any spots accessible by foot since I'll be on my two feet? If all goes well, there should be a report here even if I don't catch anything.

Never fished it but have heard stories of some being "mistakenly" caught down in the lower section of the lake while fishing for bass using typical bass lures. There is a reason why these fishes are called fishes of a 10,000 cast because they are mysterious fishes and are usually caught when you least expect them to.

PowerPro (moss green) gets my vote also. Where I live, Sports Academy have them for $10.99 for a spool of 150(?) or so yards. This is pretty decent compared to other stores (walmart).

While I've never been to this area before, I would like to make a trip down there before the summer is over but for one, I don't want to be targeting trouts but rather the stripers/hybrids/white bass that roam in this river. I know that many tend to keep the down low in this area but if someone could point me in the right direction, that would be a good start. From what I have read, when they are generating, stripers tend to be more active but where would be my best bet from shore? The dam? I also have some trout swimbaits that might come handy since they stock trout there regularly. Thanks.
-
Got a chance to get out there today. No luck, only fished for an hour or so (2-3:30ish) before the water started to rise. The stripers/hybrids/white bass are in there but they are small from what I saw. The place is filled with spoonbills so prepare for a long fight if you hook one up. Had one drag me from near the turn to almost the south gates where the heavy slingers were fishing before it broke off. Cats were pretty active if you have live bait/gills.

Cutting Braid
Evolution replied to OzarkFishman's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Nail clippers will do the job. I always carry a pocket knife in my pack so this is my source for cutting braid. $4 for scissors, you can just go to walmart and get some cheap-o for less unless you want to pay more for the Bass-Pro logo. -
I've seen plenty of crappie come out of the spillway below the dam all along the shoreline but many are undersized, but I'd rather take the action over the fishes anyday. As for using a boat, I have no idea but they are in there, you just have to find them since many will not give up their holes.
-
Warm temp. may be good but low water along with it would make it even better especially if it's on a weekday.
-
From what I have read on the 'net, now should be a prime time for striper action but with the river flows the way they are, has anyone being having any luck with stripers? With the water level at 12k or more lately, how does the water levels look like and is there any chance of catching something from shore?
