    4/5 Trip

they dont HAVE to move up to spawn...i heard wally marshall in a seminar one time that crappie dont have to move up to spawn i.e. conditions if females have been pushed deep lets say 21ft due to weather or flooding and they are ready to release thier eggs then they will do so where they are at. i had never thought about it before but it makes sense, and with the wierd weather this year you just never know what those fish are going to do!
  4. the pictures of the two days
  5. Met up with group of friends friday night at the Aldrich ramp around 6:30pm water was dingy and water temp was around 64. we tied up and fished over brush in 13 to 16 ft using minnows.i left at 10:3pm with 7 keepers. the action was quite a fast as it was three weeks ago my boat really had to work hard for those 7. i dont have an offical count yet on how many keepers the group had but when i left one boat had 12 crappie 2 white and few good gills and the third boat had 4 crappie. i was suprised on how few bugs there were flying around our lanterns thought with the warm weather there would a lot more. i left early because i had made plans the meet chase26 @ 5:30 the next morning. we put in a Bona at 6:30am fished a spot we have real close to the ramp water was clearing up and 65. i had decided to use a minnow under a bobber. threw it up on the bank and it didnt sit more than 3 minutes and i had my first keeper. i think with in the first 10 minutes we had 4 keepers in the boat and caught a small bass. that spot was on fire from the time we pulled in till about a hour after daylight. i think we heard ever gobbler in the area also. we caught fish on crappie jigs and minnows from right on the bank to about 6ft off. after the first hour out of day light we thought i was going to be along day untill one of use had broke off and chase26 backed off the spot for a few minutes and then i tried to make a long cast to the bank from where we were at (sitting in 25ft) i caught a keeper crappie in 15ft about halfway back to the boat. and then right after that i dropped a minnow to the bottom 25ft and within seconds caught a 15.5 walleye! the fish had backed off the bank! we left that spot with 3 keeper walleye and around 12 keeper crappie between to two of us! didnt matter what color jig they hit everything at this spot. we spent the rest of the day between high boat and the island outside of turkey creek water had good color and was 65. here u seemed to have to have chartuse mixed in on ur jig. and we still caught fish with minnows the rest of the day! we finished the day with 25 keeper crappie and 3 keeper walleye! awesome day on the water!
  6. sorry to hear about that i've been there and it sucks, what goes around comes around!
  7. be sure to report anything, even if your truck hasnt been broke into.if you get back to the ramp or show up to the ramp and there are trucks with smashed windows call the county and let them know the more calls the county offices get the better the patrol will be!
  8. looks like they are at it again...i got broke into a couple of years ago at the Bona ramp and hadnt heard of any break-in last year..i worried about it saturday nite at aldrich but no issue. i hate a theif!!!

  15. I know where ur at! dang weather wish it would have stayed cold really thought it was going to get really good! well just hope the water doesnt warm up too soon this spring and those silly fish dont get the itch early.
  16. there is getting more and more pressure every year from waterfowl hunters, hunting the lake ,but i dont think theres enough pressure to spend money to improve habitat. thanks for the info on the green signs.
  17. those green signs they hang on the trees on the bank that indicate the brushpiles, does that mean that the brush in inline with the sign or just in the area?
  18. i think that camp ground ramp is open to everyone once the "pay to camp" season is over. i think pay to camp runs like april 15ish to october 1st.
  19. IS the new biologist a wildlife or just a fisheries biologist? i have NO complaints with them stepping up there work to improve the brush, but if there was something that needs work is the waterfowl habitat around the lake. i know projects cost big bucks but any thing would be better than what we got now.
  20. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS ANY WATER IN GREASER CREEK AND IF THE LITTLE BOAT RAMP IS ACCESSIBLE???
  21. did any of you that fished cc today see any ducks or hear much shooting that would have been waterfowl hunters?
  22. there used to be a Willard bass club dont know if it still around?
  23. the only problem i got is with some of the bass tourny guys...i am one also but i/we never cut any one off or crowd some one... some of these guys think they own the lake whether they are prefishing or fishing a tourny. i have run into this many times i.e. right after take off times or an hour before weight in. since dad and grandpa were hard core tourny guys back in the 90s i generaly just give these guys there room, let them fish through cuz they aint going to be there long and they aint crappie fishing. i do get pissed enough to say something is when i do the right thing and then they set up and fish right beside you and then ask can you back off WE dont need the fish disturbed in OUR spot. guys need to learn if they come to a spot and someone else in to just move one...the problem is they dont have enough spots with fish and they become rude. i have also learned that you have to become territorial during the spring spawn also after afew good keeper crappie if your not careful you wont even have room to cast. rant over
  24. water was 57 degrees yesterday around cedar ridge, i wasnt bass fishing but we did see some guys bass fishing they were catching some fish looked like most of them were using a crankbait or a football jig or a pastic with a football head with no skirt. i know isnt a ton of info but i hope it might help
  25. thanks for the info i thought that was private...good to know probily done fishing in my rig this year but that will be good ramp come waterfowl season!
