  1. A fella I work with has been catching crappie at Tablerock in 40 feet of water for about two weeks. Water temp past weekend was 52. Fish suspended about 20'. I would suggest chartreuse and grey jigs.
  2. I agree with Buzz. The clevice that holds the spinner may be pinched too tight. I have made some of these and the components I purchase are too tight. Depending on the type used, not a whole lot you can do to fix it rather than return them. Rooster tails are bad about this. Some of them have to have pretty good current drag to function properly and your line tie has to be really tight.
  3. I know where you can get a custom made smallie rod. Probably don't want to put it behind the seat of your truck though. Berkley Rods are pretty good choice, but they are getting ugly. Fish don't care what they look like. If you are confident in them, go for it.
  4. Troutman I would freeze them. The day before you plan to use them again, set them out in the sun and mix a bit of cornmeal and flour with them. They will get stinky and thicken up a bit. If you don't use them all, drop them in a frying pan and eat them! Not really, don't want to eat them. You can wrap some old panty hose around them to keep them mushy rascals on the hook.
  5. Riverrat I sent you the story. I'd rather be a black bullhead than a bleeding shiner any day!
  6. Riverrat I appreciate your concern. It could happen to anyone! I might tell the story in the short story forum.... but not today! If we are on the same page I feel for you.......
  7. Well Chief, I would rather not go there. However The Spaghetti Incident was a total bomb for Guns-N-Roses! I will tease the story a bit and admit that it is true, and I cried a little bit! But it was a manly cry. Thought you would have forgot that by now!
  8. I am a newbie to this site and would like to let you know I have recently completed a website for custom crappie jigs. It is at www.crappiecrippler.com . Has not yet been picked up by Google or Yahoo, but can be accessed using your browser. If you like, please havea look. I will be happy to tie any color pattern you want. Thanks for your time. Discovered just yesterday that some of the jigs also catch trout and goggle eye!
  9. As a newbie to this forum, I have not had the opportunity to look through ALL of the information that is available. I may be posing a question that has been asked before. If so, I apologize. I do not own a bass boat. I have a 12' V-Bottom pond hopper and 3 float tubes. I like to fish many of the local MDC lakes and local creeks. Have some success most times although I am far from the angler most of you are. My question is... would anyone be interested in a belly boat/float tube only fishing get together? When I am out and about I never run across anyone else fishing out of a tube. Surely I am not the only one??!!?? If you have never tried it, you should. Would like to get some feedback if anyone is interested. Thanks... and watch for snakes!
  10. Regardless of the State waters you were in, those are some dandy fish for Spring River! I almost recognized one of the big rocks in the background. High Five to Chief and Buzz.
  11. Well Chief.... I guess I can show you a picture of it. What better way to promote my goods! This is a 1/32oz. minnow head with red hook, silicone tail with root beer flash. The brown/black body has gold tinsel woven in.
  12. Not a bad day fishing. Did not have much luck until around noon. Finished the day with 4 rainbows, 1 brown, and several chubs! Tyler was in stalking mode and pulled it out at the end of the day. Tyler 7 Dad 5 . Most were caught near the RV park. The secret jig turned out to be a winner this time! Talked to a couple guys that thought the creek had not been stocked lately. I don't know.
  13. Taking the boy to Hickory Creek today. He is itching to wear his new waders! Hope to be there around 10:00 this morning. If you see a tan Ford 4x4, come give us some tips on the hot spots! Hope to have some pictures later. Should be a great day to be out and I tied up some secret jigs last night for a trial
  14. Hello everyone! I am new to this forum today. Chief Greybear introduced me to this site just this morning. Looks like I will have no trouble finding information on Missouri streams! I fish mostly small area lakes, creeks, and streams. Don't have a big boat, but the 12' V-Bottom does the trick. Also enjoy fishing from a float tube. My kids and I enjoy wading in the various creeks around the area. Mostly catch and release unless we find some crappie. Some of those don't make it back into the water. I have years of experience fishing with Greybear... from sitting atop a 5 gallon bucket at a pond, to tipping a canoe! He is a pretty good guide
