just thought i'd put these up incase no one's seen them yet. the blue's 124 lb's,current world record the flathead's supposed to weigh 123 lb's and caught on a zebco 33 and 12 pound test but i just dont know if any of the flathead stuff is true, look's like it could be 100 though.
-
i agree with catbuster, big blue's. i read in the catfish insider that some guy's were fishing over 90' of water and pulling out a bunch of huge blue's from it. what you seen was almost exactly what they described, big blue's hanging right of the shelf. where exactly was that at anyway? i've been wanting to catfish on the lake sometime and dont have a clue were to start.

i thought id try my new bass reel out while my women went to the mall so i was there for 4 hour's yesterday. fished the crappie cove. mind you i only had one lure 4' kicking minnow by storm. there was a couple guy's there that seen me lose a bass that might have went 4 pound's and i just blamed it on the new reel i never used...lol lost another little largemouth and caught one small one, couple bluegill that bit got foul hooked. shad are running. LOT's of boat's before 3. not many bank guy's at all. there was a family that showed up and was cactching GIANT crappie right on the point where the current hit's the slackwater in the cove. ill be going out on the river around tuscumbia tommorow so i'll let everyone know what i get.

i went out to a log pile with some fresh bluegill for flathead's and catalpa worm's for blue's or channel's. i got to the log pile '' this was 3 day's ago'' with my flathead setup ready to go,put on the bluegill and got him in the water and the catalpa worm. then picked up my bass rod cause i was at the mouth of a creek with just to much swirly water to pass up. my flathead poll took off....so i droped my bass pole and let him take it for about another 3 second's...he was biting it weird though??? i figured a flathead and that small of bluegill he would just gulp it up and go. 3 and a half pound largemouth that was sitting in them log's wanted some of that little bluegill,he got it...and i got him. then my catalpa worm was getting some good bite's and i set the hook.....normal sized white bass. i thought what the hell's going on,im catching all the bass on catfish stuff. then i was fishing a crawdad colored crankbait around the log's where the 3 pounder came out of and caught a 2 pound spot. went back downriver and fished a small eddie by the bridge and got a 3 pound channel. that was my afternoon on the osage and everything was released. i'll be going to bagnell monday afternoon to try and get lot's of bait for my trip to indiana and try and get into big flat's n blue's,here monday and there when i get there. for those of you that dont have google earth, you should get it, i have found lot's of fishing hole's that i didnt even know where there. if you do check out the river at grayville indiana and that's where we are going flathead fishing....2nd time out for just one certain fish. it's a old train bridge it look's like that's fell apart in the middle right in the river and a GIANT logpile right on it with a sandbar behind and in front of the brigde.

i traded my guitar stand and some burnt dvd's for a abu garcia black max baitcaster and soon will be meeting someone that want's my 17 point buck antler's and is going to give me a 2007 ar velocity bow ''700 dollar's'' with almost 300 buck's of stuff put on it and 100 cash. he own's a taxidermy shop and want's them for it. so,so far i've had good luck,no one's tryed to kill me either.

OOOOoooo i've been upgraded to a ''banded pygme'' lol.

no,i dont get to buy many lure's,they have got to expensive for me to buy many so i get one or 2 at a time and by the time i have money to get more i've lost the other's one's in tree's or snagg's. i loved terminator inline's.....whatever happend to them...i cant find them in any store or in bass pro mag. mann's baby minus i use alot also. not much on plastic's but will if i have to,just dont care to,not my style. starting to like the beetlespin's alot....i hated them after i learned how to fish decent and thought i just needed all teh 10 dollar lure's to catch anything. they have done good, and there cheap...lol.
-
yeah i think you said you were catching alot of 3-4 pounder's at the dam if i remember right.
-
also, the bass in the 9th pic was caught at the mouth of the creek were it dump's in the river catch a couple there everytime also and last year went out there in the morning and white's were jumping EVERYWHERE. i couldnt beleive how many there were and i caught atleast a dozen nothing real big but lot's of them.
-
alright well let me know, ill be checking the post's atleast 2 time's a day to see if anything new's going on.
-
if you dont wanna drag your boat i could put mine in and show you the good spot's around there, i'd be me and my women most likely. seen crappie in there around big tree's in the water when it's clear. it was muddy yesterday should be cleared up soon though,if it dont rain. i just have a 16ft jon too, nothing fancy. the bass i've caught hit on this mean looking minnow lure i bought from the baitshop at the lake and they like roadrunner's too. decent cat's toward the mouth of the river.
-
thanks! i NEVER keep any bass anymore no matter how big. i might keep a mess of catfish 2 time's a year. everything else goes back also. the bass's that were in question about what kind are in the 7th 8th and 9th pic i think. you ever fish the saline creek?
-
anyone have an idea of how much that cat weighed, never got him in,had the camera with me and had a feeling he'd get off,no dipnet and only 12 pound mono so i fought him for atleast an hour. all the spoon's were put back. the drum and the bass were caught by my women. there's a couple bass i was almost sure that were largemouth's but the jaw didnt extend past the eye. biggest hybrid i've caught at the dam,i think it's a hybrid..could someone let me know for sure about the all the bass. the drum was caught on a bass lure, just to let you know and before anyone say's something about the stinger on the spoonbill i had it on there and put in the water until everyone got to the campground to see it so i could take pic's and release as quick as possible. had to put the pic of the turtle stretching it's leg on here.

yeah i feel much better since i got home and took a shower.might take the boat out tommorow night and try some spots. not sure if i want to try the dam or the river around tuscumbia. i seen some people on the vfw side getting into some there at the end of the drive were people sometime put there boat's in. i like that side for number's i guess i've never caught anything over 3 pound's there. right downriver a little way's from there though is a good spot also, has a rock cliff and is kind of deep, not sure how deep but i've caught a couple 5-7 lber's there, using stinkbait. im gonna have to start bass fishing there again,i did when i first moved here and then just started catfishing all the time. i have a creek by my house that has TON'S off bass in it that average 2 pound's. the saline creek. catch the hell out of all kind's of bass there anytime i go,unless the water's muddy. caught a couple smallmouth out of it. not very big though. im gonna post some pic's of some fish i caught,im not sure about some of the bass,if there just largemouth's or spot's or small's so ill see what everyone else think's. also some spoonbill i accidently got,and a cat that got away last year that i took a pic of cause i knew he was gonna get away...had no dipnet and only 12pnd test on a small baitcaster.ill put them up in a sec.

my women never want's to go fishing. she wanted to go today. i knew it was not going to be fun. i took her. spent 15 minute's getting bait, half hour fishing the mud bank's. we all left and she think's i had a small heat stroke...lol. my arm's and face were red and blotchy, couldnt hardly breath awfull cold chill's and still have a massive headache. seen some monster spoonbill's and got some bite's on cut shad but we didnt really stay long enough to catch any. just little nibble's. they shut the gate's at 930 this morning. not much else really to tell other than it was too hot to stay out there for very long.
-
i fished the osage today also at tuscumbia and going up river about 5 mile's. fished 5 different spot's the first spot i had lot's of hope for something big, lot's of big rock's n ledge's with small channel's along the rock's and....part's like a mini wing dike about 10 foot long with the water swirling around the back of the dike.....when the water's down. so i figured i knew where everything was so i got set up and the current was just to stong, very disapointed about that spot. then just worked my way downriver toward the ramp after that. lot's of bite's again, only caught one...again. not to big. used shad like i do most of the time, thought about getting nightcrawler's but figured i'd just end up getting a bunch of drum. sunburnt bad, probly wont be fishing for atleast 3 day's. fished from 12-4. lot's of people out today for some reason, never seen that many out on the river around tuscumbia before. does anyone know if the jeff city river is down cause that's where i plan to take my next trip, there or truman.
-
well...i didnt get to fish the log pile's....women was to scared of the current...i also cant go more than 5mph when she's in the boat...lol. took over an hour to get 3 shad, had to get them at the ramp instead of the normal place...nothing running for the dipnet and nothing in the cast net. got to fish for maybe 2 hour's. she caught the first one, about 1 pound i caught the next and last one, about 3 pound's. fair amount of actual bite's instead of like last time where the school's of fish ran your line over. just little catfish i think cause i couldnt get them to take the bait. everyone else was catching fair amount's of small one's also. i was using small cut shad for bait. i caught 7 largemouth in my cast net about 1 pound each, let them go. gar are still heavy and everywhere and the carp are jumping out of the water around the generator's alot, seen a couple spoon's break top. last time i went im pretty sure the water was a little lower than this time,i think they didnt have all the generator's going last time. didnt see how the crappie and bass guy's were doing, around 10-13 boat's i'd say on the water when i left, bunch of bank guy's like usual. umm...i think that's all i got. have the catfish started there nest guarding yet? i wanted to blam me not catching anything for 7 hour's last time i went on the spawn...lol. also im thinking about going to truman sunday sometime, never been there so if anyone is around tuscumbia and is going so i can follow let me know. anyway...i'd say the fishing is....in the middle, not good, not bad, hell of alot better than last week.
-
i planned on the log jam's if i can see them good enough to get rite in them and the current's not to bad....lost an achor there once, dont want to lose another one,i had one of the biggest bite's of my life there fishing a live bluegill, didnt hook him though. i was goin to go now but im goin to wait an hour so my women can go so i should be in the water by 430-5 o clock.
-
i'll be going out in a couple hour's probly until around midnight again.....if the bite is good,im not gonna sit there for 7 hour's again not getting any bite's i'll watch how the bass and crappie guy's are doing and ill be doing my cat thang...i'll let you know when i get back.
