  1. A couple days ago, 5/11/09, my friend and I decided to rent a canoe from the Fellows Marina, but much to our dismay the gate was closed. There was a handwritten sign on the gate that said it was closed due to damage from the storm. What a shame since it was an absolutely beautiful day; no wind, little cloud cover, very gentle breeze, and the temperature was just right. So we decided to park nearby and walk over to check it out. Now, I only had the camera on my phone so the pictures aren't the best but they'll give you an idea. These are the steps that used to lead onto the dock, and this is where the dock is now relative to the steps. If you're not familiar with the Fellows Marina then you should know that it is approximately 100 yards from where it was and is now facing the opposite direction. We ended up going to McDaniels instead. He caught a couple perch and one small crappie, and I didn't catch a thing. A lady showed up next to us fishing with worms and within the first 15 minutes she had three small perch and a nice sized white bass. Better luck next time I guess.
  2. I have seen a couple otters in Zone 3. One was close enough to touch. They haven't bothered me too much, but I know they eat all kinds of fish.
  3. Hello all. I went to McDaniels today to find this crappie hot spot. I found the trail okay, and the fallen cedars, but no crappie. I tried many different places all along the bank where the cove meets the lake but still no luck. Do you have any more tips. Such as, what type of bait/jigs to use, or the best time, of the year or day, to fish this area. I did catch one white bass and a smallie, but neither were keepers. After I made my way off the bank I headed for the bridge. There were three guys and one lady catching alot of smaller crappie, but unfortunately after I showed up they stopped biting. Better luck next time I guess.
