This didn't happen in Missouri (Lake Conroe) but it's another good reminder to be extra careful when fishing at night. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/neighborhood/woodlands/news/article/Lake-Conroe-boat-collision-leaves-3-dead-5596811.php

I got mine at BPS last year. I'm not sure if they still sell them in the store but I bet they could order one for you if you ask. -

Springfield Lake

If you do rent a canoe or kayak, you are limited to using it in the river system only. They won't let you use it in the lake section. I also went out this morning, EARLY. I was on the water by 5:30 and had my first bass before 6:00. This time of year it's the only way I can get a consistent bite. Started off by throwing top water (Z. spook jr.) then switched to a red fin. But I caught most of my fish on a 4" swim bait I picked up at Fin & Feather. Chartreuse buzz bait is also a good go to. I caught all my fish today in 3 ft. of water or less, I was off the water by 10:30. For what's its worth, surface temps are 78-80 degrees where I was at. -
New To Springfield, Want To Fish Fellows

Do many guys fish Fellows out of a jon boat or is it too windy? -
Wait for the Dogwood's to blossom, it never fails.

I went out twice this week to Splfd. Lake with some success. As for the A-Rig, I was able to catch some fish on it. Only caught one using 5 swim baits, then I replace the two dummy ones for gold willow leaf blades and had more hook ups. I used 4" swim baits and I think 3" would work better, I had several short strikes. Fished it mostly in the channel and not the main lake. It definitely is a chore to cast it for long periods at a time. I recommend a back up just to give your arm a rest. I was able to catch some on top with a Spook early in the am. The most successful lure for me was still a 3" s. & p. grub on a 3/8 oz jig hook. I also was able to pull some out of cover from over hanging trees using a shaky head. Was told by a Crappie fisher that they're bellies are soft and filling up with eggs and should be spawing soon.

Has anyone attempted to throught the A-rig out at Fellows Lake? With all the attention it's getting at T-Rock I'm sure some have or will soon. Curious if the results are/would be the same.

It comes with a Minn Kota trolling motor, 3 batteries (one is a Pro Guide). It has a brand new butt seat and brand new cover it. It also has a 2 Garmin fish finders, a live well, and an oar. Call 417-619-1549 with any questions. Thanks. I fished both the river section and parts of the upper lake region.

Got on the water early today but didn't get any bites until around 8:00, which is when I changed lures. Second cast caught a 19" L.M. On a Zara spook jr. He nailed after a short pause. Also caught some on white spinner. And a Spro frog. Water temp. is 67.

Launched my boat this moring around 6:30 and went straight for grass beds, which are not hard to find. Started with top water to no avail and eventually switched to chert. buzz bait. This produced the only success for me today. I never lost sight of the boathouse, so I didn't cover a lot of water. Headed back home shortly after 9.

Springfield Lake Report
motexan replied to OzarkFishman's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
OF- What type of plastic are you throwing. I fished a chub crawl and shaky head on Tuesday all around grass and weeds with no luck. Are you staying on the bank or are you fishing the weeds? How about the channel? -
I'm selling my Old Town Loon 100 kayak. It's the angler edition. I bought it new last summer from BPS. They are still selling this model for $450. I'm asking only $400 and I'm including the oars that I bought for it as well. I only took it out on the water a total of 5 trips (on on Springfield Lake and once on Niangua). It is 10 ft. long, weighs 47 lbs. and has a capacity of 300 lbs. It has two rod holders located behind the seat and bungee ropes for storage. It has has an anchor. Rides very nice and is easy to fish from. The only reason I'm selling it is b/c I bought a small boat that I'll use more and I need the space in my garage. It has been garage kept all year. If you are interested let me. You can PM or call my cell 417-619-1549

I fished Lake Springfield this morning. Didn't have much luck early on but after a warm cup of coffee from the boathouse and new stragety caught 4 large mouths. They were all caught at the lower end of the James before the lake throwing a spinner opposite of bluffs. Casted parallel to bank on the edge of grass beds. I think they are in a pre-spawn by the way the reacted and their location. Not sure what the water temp. was.
