  1. How is the water below the dam at the park. I have not been out there in since the rain this past week. I am guessing from your post it is still wadeable.... "wadeable? Don't know if I can use that one in a scrabble game" Nice pic of the goggle.
  2. That's right, gay bass have rights too! It makes more sense to me now.... I wondered why I had more success with catching bass on a 10" and 12" worm.... They did not like that shorter 4" and 6". Fellers, apparently SIZE does matter when bass fishing.
  3. Are you kidding me?!! I have three little girls under the age of seven that don't whine this bad! My family lives up north near Lake Of The Woods, in prime muskie country where they have fished their entire life for that one trophy muskie. If you have ever really fished for muskie, you would know that you will find yourself casting until your arm falls off and still have a very slim chance of one looking at your lure. Sucks you had to drive 4 hours to "catch a BUNCH of gay bass". I almost started tearing up...... give me a moment.....How did you make it, what a horrifying experience. Most people would love to have that opportunity! I went over 2000 miles to south Mexico and all I caught was one gay fish (how could I tell? It smiled at me when I threw it back into the water). I forgot to look for a forum where I could blame everyone for that. Most people that catch muskies in this area are not fishing for them. Maybe you should start fishing for gay bass or prissy perch, and you too might catch a muskie. In the future, if you want to whine and blame others for your failure, write to Oprah or Dr. Phil, not OA.
  4. Got done with the honey do's (not all, I think more were added to the list) so I went down to the park for about an hour. The bass are right on the bank. Lots of them! Used old faithfull, 4" black power worm, weightless. I managed to catch 3 that were nice size by sight fishing. You have to move slowly, the water is clear and they spook easily. Was havig a great time and then I saw "THE ONE". I think I will call him "Walter". I would have to guess it was pushing close to 4 lbs. I bugged that thing for over 20 min. and could not get it to even look at the worm. It is nice to see the river picking up. I can't wait to take the kids out there. Bluegill were everywhere. Great place to keep the kids entertained, self included! I am heading back out Friday to see if I can convince Walter bite. If anyone else happens to catch him first, please remember to release so others can enjoy the same experience in the future!
  5. Fly, I found a great spot on Wednesday for my tube. I went up to Stockton to the Masters Rec. area. There are some great shallow points and brush everywhere. I would recommend going early since the wind likes to pick up out there in the afternoon. I caught 4 nice walleye and way too many bass to keep track of, all of them were shorties. They are right up on the banks. I was hunting crappie, but all of the bass and the wally's were just as fun. If you get your tube, give this area a try. There is a $3 fee for boat launch, I paid it even though I was in a tube. If you have not used or fished out of a tube, make sure you get a good PFD that is comfortable. I bought a new one this year at BPS and you can not tell you have it on. You do not want to be out on the water without one......
  6. Fished out in the Masters rec. area on Wednesday. Picked up 4 nice walleye that had to go back. Were all within 1 inch of being legal. No crappie and too many bass to keep count. The shorties were everywhere 1 to 1.5 lb range. Using a small wild eye shad and road runners. Water seemed a bit cool still in that area. Still better than getting skunked....
  7. That is some great info BK. I have been wanting to try behind the dealership. I have been told there are some great spots down there. Are you able to put in there or is it wadeable? I cross the river on 65 every day on my way to work and always think it looks like great smallie water.
  8. Back in Honey Creek is always good hitting points and the docks. I have been going there for several years and always do well w/ soft plastics. Power Lizards in a pumpkin seed and also black. I can go out there all day with these two colors and catch fish. You will have to work around all of the crappie fishermen back in there. Whites also start running too.
  9. Got the wife to agree to let me buy the canoe!!! I think I complained enough about the lack of places to bank fish and told her how much fun it would be for the kids as well. If anyone knows of some good deals, let me know. It will have to be the first part of April before I can buy one. Had to re-work budget (kids don't need diapers for a few weeks... lol)
  10. Went to the Ozark Park for a couple of hours yesterday. One short one on 4" black power worm. I did see a few snakes sunning them selves on the rocks by the fishing piers. Almost stepped on one. I could not tell what kind they were, nor did I care to get close enough to find out. I have been in my tube in a pond in Okalhoma when a ticked off water moccasin decided to chase me like a puppy after a Ford. It is amazing how quick you can scoot your butt off the water when a snake decides they don't want you in their area. Someone told me Lake Springfield is known for having snake issues.
  11. thanks for all of the response. I called the marina and they told me the same thing. no.... I find it strange since most of the boats I see out there are "not so eco friendly" to say the least. Some look like they leave a trail of oil so the boater can find his way back to the ramp. Oh well. I hear there is good walley on Fellows, guess I will need to convince the other half that it is time for a boat or canoe. fishinokie1
  12. Thanks for the info! Went to your web page...nice day on the water! I think I saw those "bubbas" from your boat ramp incident at Wal Mart buying lunch (30 pk Nat. Light and a can of vienna sausage). Going to give Lake Springfield a try Friday. That is, if the honey do's don't get in the way. I guess I could always make a 3 hour "trip to Lowes".
  13. I love to fish from my float tube. Moved to Ozark and found Lake Springfield and Fellows. These lakes look like great for tube fishing. Does anyone know if these lakes have regulations or allow tube fishing? Also would anyone suggest the Finley river for tube fishing? Any info on this or any suggestions on where to go would be great.
