  1. Weird night last night. I headed out last night after 4 calls to the darn from 8-8:45 stating no generation. Thought I would get there right after dark, as I am pulling in around 9:15 I call one more time and yep you guessed it they had a unit running. So I venture up to #1 to try my luck. Not having much I head up past #1 to cable and finally land one around 10:30. Next few casts I realize my drift isn't happening anymore and the water is dropping. I call the number again and now the water is off (no horn). Since the flood I don't really like above #2 with no current, so I head down to below the rootwad. There I land a another 14 inch rainbow. Next cast something thumps my purple hibernator and I set the hook the fight is on. Several good runs and I know I got something big on, get it close and I can see it's Leonard's brown or Leonard's brown's brother. I am guessing 23 inch carp, lip hooked on a purple hibernator given to me by guess who? Leonard. No picture, I was by myself and trying to keep it from breaking my 5x tippet. Didn't expect that at all, was slow other than that but nice to be out.

I am not sure either I drove down there mid week two weeks ago and saw the sign, I drove up to the white house to ask but nobody was home. I didn't park down there as I was afraid I was trespassing. I am curious also if anyone knows if this is closed or not? Is that a county road or is a drive way that they can block off?
  3. F2F I was the other truck that was there and sitting in the flats, I was doing well on a black and blue hibernator until the lake bottomed out. I too was catching big fish and fat. Also caught one white bass. I packed up and moved down to the big hole for 30 minutes then headed out (had to get to work the next day), but it was a very good night. If you see my truck down there again feel free to yell at me. Cad
  4. I also hit Rebar yesterday morning caught a few on a scud. Switched to black #14 bead head woolie bugger and caught 15-20 dead drifting it (one small brown). Went up to #1 and really did well on pretty much anything I threw; bugger, midge, SJ worm, scud, even a couple streamers. Had one bow that would have pushed 21-22 inches (didn't have camera on me), nice football shaped bow. Had plans in Springfield or I would have been there until generation started, took out of there at 10:00 with over 50+ fish to hand. Cad
  5. Well I made it down last night and hooked up with Leonard. Have to brag on the guy, he took time to show me the ropes and even donated few flies. Had a fantastic night, learned a lot. Brought my brother with me who is a 3rd time fly fisher and Leonard had him in double digits on fish last night. We were stripping hibernators mostly, it was enjoyable to watch Leonard work. Guy could catch a fish almost every cast if he wasn't taking the time to help us. I appreciate all his patience and generosity. Left around midnight, wanted to stay longer but had to get up this morning. Cad
  6. Thanks for the reponse I tried from the Big Hole up to #1, I was there from about 8:30 to 11:30. Wasn't using anything of good size mostly #14 woolies with a bead on them. Thanks for the tips I will give it a try. Hope to see you down there sometime. Cad
  7. Leonard, I was down there last night for my first attempt at night fishing. Been down there several days and had great success, thought I would take a stab at night. Any helpful tips I was there for about 2.5 hours only had one fish to hand? I was primarly throwing woolies and leech patterns. You said hibernators, do you weight your flies at night, go bigger, and do you dead drift them with no indicator? Any help would be great. Cad
  8. Now that the whites are starting to run, anyone have any suggestions for flies to use for them? Cad
  9. I was up there today from 1:30 tell they turned the water back on at 4, fish were rising and jumping like crazy. I had 30+ fish in the 2 1/2 hours to hand. Nice to have the water down again. Black and Olive Woolies were the ticket for me. Hope to see this again this weekend! Nothing like having the water off down there, the fish biting, and having almost the whole lake to yourself!!!!
  10. Leonard, I think I was across from you up at one and you were dead on it was very slow. I caught 4 when there wasn't a flush going on and 4 when they were flushing it and I was up there 2 hours. Didn't even see fish at my feet when wading. Pretty slow, but at least it was good to get out.
  11. Got out this morning right around daybreak rigged up for a nice cool November morning. Wanted to get 3 hours of fishing in before I had to head back for turkey. Haven't been wading since beginning of October get in the water to find my waders were filling, hole in the right leg Oh well made the most of it caught 5 real quick before the foot started getting real cold then headed to the house. Being postive time to ask the boss for new waders for Christmas! 20 minutes, 7 hookups, 5 to hand, was shaping up to be a good morning.
  12. I was down there yesterday morning during that rain and did pretty good. I got out there thinking this would be a short storm that would just pass, to an hour and half later being wet from head to toe. I did pretty good drifting a #18 tan scud about 28 inches under my strike indicator. I had to get the depth right to get a bite, but after I located that I was getting strikes about every throw.
  13. Friday a buddy and I went down to Taney, we got there right at 5am to beat the crowd. We rigged up and headed to the rebar hole, beat everyone down there and got our spots. We setup across from each other right by the rebar. Right as daylight hit a dad and their two teenage sons set up shop directly in between us dropping their flies at their feet and drifting them downstream. We couldn't even cast and drift 5 feet before running into them. I didn't say anything to them figuring everyone has the same right to fish there, but it seemed very unethical to me. Would you guys have let it go and moved away and fished somewhere else, or would you have approached them? Ended up doing pretty good, but just didn't get started off on the right foot.
  14. I am new also to Taney and checked out the website, but prior to heading down there I want to be sure once they turn the water off at I night I am taking it drops enough that it is wadeable, or are you still fishing outlets?
  15. With the rivers swelled and the Lake up, do you think they will be running a lot of water through this weekend, barring we do not get anymore rain?
