  1. Matt Jones is the designer and sells them with Tailwaters Fly Shop. (Good Guys) http://www.twintailclothing.bigcartel.com/
  2. Great info guys! I am sure it has been done and I know that if I plan things right, I should have no problems landing one with my kayak. I will have some help so getting things under control should not be a problem. 2 kayaks vs one fish, should be able to slow him down enough to gain some line. I am thinking a cradle is the only way to go when dealing with trying to land one of these from a kayak. A net is just a big no-no in my book for any species that has enough pulling power to be able to roll you etc... I fish out of a Native Ultimate and I stand and cast 100% of the time, so casting the 10wt with some sinking line if need to be is not a big problem. I am trying to mark off, musky from my list of species to catch from a kayak on fly. Here is the plan, take 2 weeks off and head to a couple of different locations trying to catch one of decent size, I hope to not hook into a monster but if so, I will deal with it accordingly.
  3. Ron, it just really depends on the location and the water structure/column.
  4. I have a lot of experience fighting fish / landing from a kayak so that is least of my worry at this time.
  5. Guys, I want to catch a Musky on fly with my kayak. Can this be done in the Ozark region? Any help is greatly appreciated. Cole
  6. I am going to float it this spring and see what happens.
  7. Last week I fished in the morning from 6am until 3pm. I had my kayak with me and decided to head to Gore landing to check it out, well I fished upstream and downstream with ease while they were generating. I had a blast and can't wait until this spring, I will be doing some striped bass fishing down there as much as I can. I want to break the 20lb mark on fly this year! ______________________________________________________________________________ I want to add that if you do decide to kayak fish during the winter, you must take some precautionary measures in order to make sure you are safe while fishing/paddling. The last thing you want to happen is to get turned over somehow and drown in your waders or die from hypothermia. So use your head and plan ahead for the unexpected. If you fish Gore Landing, you must pay close attention to boat traffic up and down river.
  8. Thank you for some insight. Yes the LMFR had a ton of damage and it took a lot of resources to fix it, I think once lost creek is back to normal, they should be back up to where they were before the flood. I like fishing there it's just that there are a ton of poachers on the weekend and it's like combat fishing. I don't like combat fishing, but if you can get there during the week, you can have the river to yourself. During the winter mid week is awesome fishing all by yourself!
  9. Right on man, that one area looks so good, but under no generation is is simply dead water. I posted this to see if things are still moving forward as "imho" the Lower Illinois trout fishery needs this.
  10. I know that ODWC had put together something for the Watts area as far as providing more trout habitat. Is this still moving forward? Watts_Plan_Document2.pdf
  11. I do enjoy, thank you.
  12. Nice fish, man!

  14. Sorry to hear that, what were they hitting on?
  15. Drove, by today at noon and they were not generating. Would have been a perfect day to be casting a fly. Cool / Overcast skies!!! Too bad I had to be in Fort Smith, by 2. The week before Christmas, I will be fishing a lot. My kayak will be in tow and I am going to do some exploring!
  16. Where is everyone getting together at in the morning, before heading to the river? (Buy flies etc...)
  17. I might try this as well this year.
  18. I am pissed that I didn't get to go. When you guys want to go again, I am there!
  19. S**T! Your darn right it looks like I missed out.
  20. Whats up brother, when did you call? My phone has been messing up here a lot, I think it is time to switch to a Tulsa number. Your best bet is to shoot me an email if you can't get a hold of me. Did you head up that way?
  21. Of course every time I have something going on and have to be out of town they have a day with no generation. I am dying to wet a line anywhere right now.
  22. Just keep checking the charts, I have been waiting for it as well.
  23. I thought about it, but decided against it. I might try next week, if they keep running water on the LI.
  24. I am done with this warmwater stuff, it is time for me to get into some cold water! I can't wait for them to cease generation so I can head down that way.
