  1. What are his hours? Is he next to Quik Trip or over by the Antique shops or? thanks, saves me a trip to Fin & Feather hopefully!
  2. nicely done - where's the video camera when you need it. Guaranteed million views on YouTube for something like that.
  3. We got on the water around 3pm on Sunday and fished till dark. Put in at Aunt's and hit some secondary points with the fish doctor and wiggle wart = nothing but clear water and snot grass. Motored over to the island around point 10 and got on a nice pattern with a camo colored sassy shad on a 1/16th oz jig head. Three of us boated over 20 in the remaining daylight. Had 6 keeper whites and one keeper toad kentucky which was released. Several 9 to 13 inch smallies were boated too. Fish were chasing shad and busting the surface from 10ft to shore. Had a blast. Had to fish just fast enought to make the tail wiggle - they hammered it.
  4. I've caught hybrids at LOZ in that size range while fishing for largemouth. A 3lb White would be a blast... especially on spinning tackle. Nice work!
  5. lol - I'll be adding more pics as they come in. My cameramen are a little technically challenged.
  6. We spent the week at Point Randall Resort from 11/15 - 11/20 (Great people btw) Water was very dingy from all the rain. We couldn't find the whites but we did get on a great crappie pattern that had us limiting out on each trip. 1/8th oz tube jig in black/chart. We held our boats in 30 to 35ft and slowly brought the jig over a bluff ledge in 15ft. It seemed like one of the five of us had a fish on at all times. The bite was very very light. We fished this same area all week in all kinds of conditions (rain, overcast, blue bird sun, wind, calm) and the bite never let up. We also caught 15 or 20 blue catfish on jug line/noodles in 20ft of water. The average size was 10lb on the blues. We fish LOZ every year around this same time period and this was the first time I've ever experienced such a slow White Bass bite. What are they doing this time? Are they schooled up deep wating to feed shallow or has the shallow bite already been and gone?
  7. Eric was kind enough to answer the same question about Buttermilk for me back in May. Here is his response; "Buttermilk Springs is called Cedar Hollow up the James River on most maps. From Little Aunts head up the James about 4 miles and you are there." hope this helps, and thanks again to EP!
  8. My uncle and I went yesterday evening out of Aunt's Creek. We stayed near the launch fishing points while getting buzzed by jet skis and pleasure boaters. Had one 17" keeper largemouth on top (tiny torpedo of all things) right at dusk. From 6pm till dusk we caught a dozen or more short fish with the majority smallmouth. We caught them on a light colored Norman DD 14 (kind of a pale sexy shad color) using a stop and go retrieve. As the sun got lower we switched to top water and only had the one keeper. I caught one short kentucky on a spook before we left. You would not believe the bluegill we were catching on that big crankbait. Lots of fun. On another note, my uncle showed me pictures of his catch from this past Monday. After the rains stopped, he and my cousin went out in the Indian Point area. Using the same crankbait, they had two 4lb smallmouth, one 3lb smj, and a 5lb lm. Same stop and go retrieve, boat in 20 feet of water throwing toward the bank and just digging the crank on the bottom. He said the largemouth was right on the bank and hit as soon as his plug hit the water.
  9. Great story! Reminds me of my favorite early-spring-after-the-rains float on the Roubidoux from Plato bridge to Grove's Angus Farm.
  10. As his agent, I must inform you that his hourly fee is quite steep. There are a few things he requires in the boat at all times; lots of ice cubes to throw into the water, the bottom of the boat must be clear at all times to ensure that he gets to top speed at the end of each sprint, and the horn must be fully operational. Oh, and Chee-tos, lots of Chee-tos.
  11. I think it is called Little Aunts Creek. We were way back into it and in the mouth of a another smaller creek. That 2nd fish was caught a little deeper (maybe 15ft.) in some standing timber but still on a 1/8 oz shakey head. I use the Chompers brand 6" shakey worm - watermelon green on 6lb test clear mono. The bite was very light.
  12. Took my 3 year old out on the boat for the first time. We were in Aunts Creek fishing a shakey head worm in 6 feet of water -- when I wasn't chasing him around the boat trying to get him to sit still. Boated this one first after losing a keeper kentucky... Then, after I let that one go we got back to fishing. My partner caught a nice smallie right before the little man found the button for the horn on the old Ranger. There were other people trying to fish and he was just a little chatter box. I did my best to quiet him down and then I boated this beauty... Maybe the key is to take a noisy toddler with you??? The first one was 21.5" long and the second was 22". I don't know what they weighed. I hated to leave but the little guy was getting cold. The Rock keeps getting better every trip.
  13. Fishing in Aunt's Creek area tonight (point 11) from about 4 till dark. Boat trouble cut our fishing time down to about three hours. What little time we were able to fish was enjoyable. Boated 6 with 3 keeps. Two spots and one largemouth all on the shaky head worm - RIGHT ON THE BANK. They'd take it lightly and start swimming toward the boat - it was a blast! Water was 67 and dingy. At dusk, we found fish blowing up on top in a cove but they wouldn't take a buzzbait or a spook (sounded like a toilet flushing). Stick with it Hawghunter!!
  14. I like to throw a Zoom Fluke Jr. (4 inch) with a #2 Gamakatsu wide gap hook unweighted on 4lb line. Smallies tear it up on the rivers around here.
  15. Fished Little Aunt's yesterday from Noon to 5. We had a great time for the first hour or so with the white spinnerbait (1/4 oz, Silver willow, small copper colorado). We boated eight with three keeps and then they just shut their mouths. We switched to soft plastics and got a few short fish the rest of the day. Water temp at noon was 63. I think it was 65 at 5.
  16. When do you expect the shop to be back online? thanks, Troy
  17. I'm wanting to buy some McStick's but I need them quicker than most internet vendors can get them here. Any ideas where I can find a reseller closer to home? TIA, Troy
  18. Got on the water at 5 tonight and fished till dark. We stayed in the Aunt's Creek area and fished the Eakin's the whole time. First fish was a fat 16 inch spot at 5:30pm in 57 degree water at a depth of about 3 feet. We had one other keeper, a mean mouth, at about 6:30 right on the bank (same bank) and then a short fish in front of a dock in deep water - again, same bank. Several bites but they just wouldn't hold on to the bait long enough... or I'm getting too slow. We fished three main lake points and two other coves but couldn't find water over 54 degrees except for the first area we started in. It was a nice change from Sunday's 40 degrees and zero bites.
