  1. I am sorry...I have been out of town and a have had my hands full. The 70 is going for 1500 an acre ...I believe. Please call Dennis and Valerie Bartlett and they can help you with any inquiries [417-967-2298]....417-967-3396..........and 888-303-2298. Bartlett-real-estate.com The price is firm. It is a good piece of land. A couple of ponds ...Good for cattle and I have seen many turkey and deer over the years. It would be easy to take it back to a prairie...this is a pretty property.
  2. Hope this finds all well today. The house and the 10 acres just sold. Waiting on the check. The remaining 70 acres is left but I am thinking ...not for long. If interested in 70 acres in the heart of the Ozarks please contact the reality in the OP. Thanks Old Larry
  3. Hey guys and gals...I am sorry I should have updated this last week. It seems the economy has made this property hard to move as fast a we would like.. We as a family would like to let you know that we have reduced this property to sell. The house and ten acres will now be going for 119,000. This is a considerable reduction. Take a look. Larry
  4. Maybe we can explain catch and release to the giggers. Or maybe just fish ID chart? As far as that stretch....I don't go there any more. The fish are just small.......and they have been that way before the otters were introduced. Size limits or better yet slot limits IMO would be beneficial. Of course giggers don't generally care about any of that. It is a great and wonderful sport. My folks used to do this every winter on the Big Piney. I don't ever remember eating a bass. Otters? Al makes some good points. IMO we are are the culprits and nature has a way of balancing itself out. It may or may not but we do have the ability to control ourselves. Well......... some of us can.
  5. Thanks Bill..........it has been a wonderful place to grow up and Dad taught us how to build things while restoring the house and equipping the barns and lot with water and power. Nobodies lived until they had a chance to put up hay in a dead run before the rain came! I agree it won't be up long at that price. I just thought I would throw it out there. thanks again.
  6. Hi guys....I am from Raymondville, Mo but live in STl. My mother recently passed away and left the house and 80 acres. I thought I would tell you folks about it because it is on the road to Cedar Grove State Park on the Current River. I have fished this stretch since the early 90's for trout and have done real well. If you cross right at the park Montauk State Park is right over the hill or you can go through on Ashley Creek Rd. to the Park. You are also not that far from the Jacks Fork and it is inside of ten miles to Dogs Bluff on the Big Piney River in Houston. This was my teenage fishing favorite! It is great small stretch for fly-fishing for panfish and smallies! There are more honey holes but .....I'll let you find them. LOL! The place is a Historical Century Farm. The House was built in 1860 and the barn is the old livery from Raymondville and was moved by mule in 1923. The house has four bedrooms an 3 baths. We are selling the house and 10 acres but one could buy the whole deal. House and 80a. The house has innumerable updates and is ready to move in. I just put in all new appliances and my late father and I are electricians and it is more than up to snuff electrically. It is on city water and has an all new septic system.. All the bath rooms are new and a lot more are new or close to new. All new windows and doors plus a new roof. The place is not expensive to heat and not hard to keep cool. I won't go into much more but on the 10 acres and the house their is a pond [two more on the remaining 70], and some out buildings. I have to say it is a shame but one has to do what they have to do. The house and 10 acres are only going for $138,900. the listing number for this property is #52420. We have it listed with United Country/ Bartlett Real Estate. The Entire property, house and 80a, if one is so inclined is going for $239,900. Please call Dennis and Valerie Bartlett and they can help you with any inquiries [417-967-2298]....417-967-3396..........and 888-303-2298. Bartlett-real-estate.com I will answer any questions you might have here though...... . This is a very beautiful place. We moved there in 1973. We planted all the trees and I will miss it dearly. FYI If one buys the 80 acres as well...It has ample turkey and deer with nice center corridor for a stand. Bonus..........There is a great all you can eat catfish dinner place right there in Raymondville! 1 mile from the door. These things are important. Thanks guys old larry
  7. I also want to try for a Big Muskie on a fly rod but I have to admit doing it in a kayak is something I can't quite see. I have been involved in landing a Muskie in a bass boat and it took two full grown men to subdue the thing too retrieve the lure. I have a solo canoe and have caught a couple in Minnesota..........26 to 30" ones. One leaped out of the river and rolled in my lap. It was a mess but when I got the hooks out of my leg every thing got a little easier. I have been pulled around by a decent sized bass.............a 40+ inch muskie. Hmmmmm I do have a suggestion. I have a desire to go down the Eleven Point, Current or in the pools around Wappapello and fish for the pickerel. Some can get into the mid 20s. A 25" fish is not a Muskie of 40+ inches but it should afford a similar fishing experience. Just a suggestion. I kind of envision this as how it would go.
  8. I think those trips are fun but it takes a bit of planning and they don't come cheap! I liked it but to tell you the truth I caught bigger fish in Minnesota streams on the way up and back from there! Had a buddy go on one this summer and when they got there it was a busy lake! I could not believe it! He said he saw boats from other than his camp every day! Not good if you ask me!
  9. I like the waters in the Ozarks as well but the Rivers in Minnesota churn me up! I am sure they are not as pretty as our waters but the size of the fish is quite a nice change. I like western waters as well but the distance is just so daunting. The John Day is hard to beat for beautiful but I was on a couple of creeks in Washington this summer that were indescribable in their beauty. If I want a pretty stream the Jacks is all that! I have my compass set to the north country when ice melts...............fish on!
  10. I live in Rock Hill. Just a couple of minutes from Hargrove's.
  11. I actually like the one that got away stories. I have a lot of those! But the fish this young man caught is about the size and width of the fish that I got into on the North fork of the White a few tears back. Most of us have landed "a nice one" but this fish was a surprise to me in that it wasn't a lot bigger. It was in a deep hole and took a double top secret wooly bugger of mine. I would have swore I had hooked an extremely large fish but after a lengthy battle I could see this fish was not going to set any records. The rainbows in the N Fork of the W. have been stream born for oddles of generations and a fish this size put up a fight I will never forget in my little stream fishing life.
  12. A little help? I just signed up to the forum, Greetings! A couple of weeks ago I was browsing this forum, I think, and saw Al's set up article for canoes. I could not view the attached photos because I was not signed up and had a little trouble doing so. Now I cannot seem to find it! If I could get a title or maybe I am looking in the wrong forum. I would appreciate any help. cheers
  13. Hey Guys, I am Larry and I live St. Louis. I have quite a few friends on this forum from the Missouri Smallmouth Alliance. I have not been fishing much the last couple years due to time restraints and some nagging injuries but reading the posts hear on OA sure gives one the fever. If I have learned anything in my few years in the SMA it is if one listens to the experience of others ones fishing only gets better. Cheers
