  1. Yep, definitely catch and release. I haven't cleaned a bass in over 20 years! I always hope their memory is short enough that they will bite again next time! Mahto
  2. Yakfished from Pineville to home (across from Mt. Shira) Sunday. Put in at 11:30, out at 7pm. Caught over 50 fish, all on a 5" finesse worm, green pumpkin seed, rigged wacky. caught over 15 keeper size smallies, biggest over 21" (5.5 or so) in a big sycamore just past Hog Heaven; one over 20"; three over 18"; and a bunch in the 15+ range. Bite was solid all day wherever there was cover. Sorry no pictures, but I have lost a good camera and a good phone to water stupidity!! Great day, no other floaters!! what a memory!! And, of course, all catch and release!
  3. Where are the items located?
  4. Here I is!! I enjoy you all more than you know. mahto
  5. Once again, thanks to you and Jean Ann...what great hosts! Enjoyed the clean-up and look forward to the opportunity to do it again soon (before COLD water!). Craig, Karen and I really enjoyed meeting you and Scotty...keep after it, man, an you can retire to paradise with the rest of us! Everybody come see us when you're down near the narrows. mahto
  6. Hey Guys! Just wanted to say I really enjoyed meeting the two of you, as well as Scotty and Craig yesterday. River clean up was great fun, and Karen and I enjoyed the dawgs (and dogs) and the hospitality. IT IS A GOOD THING THAT YOU DO FOR THE RIVER!! Stop by when you're down by the narrows. Mahto
  7. Russ, Karen and I would like to participate in the cleanup efforts this weekend. I will call you at a decent hour tomorrow (Friday) and make our reservation. Thanks for all you do for the creek. Mahto (Bill Dobbs)
  8. I went down behind the house Sunday evening about 7:30 and fished for a couple of hours. Caught several fish, and most of good size. BM @ 18", SM @ 17", 15", and several 12-14". Just drifting a wacky worm in the current mostly. Conditions were just about ideal for my kind of fishing. Mahto
  9. We've been floating some, mostly late Sundays after the river settles down. Seem to catch several fish, but "speed" past a lot of likely looking cover. I have much better control over my "presentation" (haha) when I wade. I tried a small buzz bait one foggy morning with NO results...gonna have to get it back out. I'm trying to figure out good colors, but obviously need more experience/practice/education. Always enjoy reading your posts, look forward to meeting you. Mahto
  10. Been really good fishing in the hole behind the house, especially right at dusk. SIL caught several last night in the 12-14" range and then finished off with a BM that weighed in at a little over 4lbs...what a great fish . He was using a dark, bottom-colored craw. I have been having good luck fishing a 6" senko-type, mossy green wacky worm. Last night caught 7 SM ranging from 12-14", with the biggest going just over 16". Water here is scary clear right now (just down from Shady), but wade fishing has been solid. Sorry, no pictures. I'm challenged that way. Lovin' creek livin'. Mahto
  11. I've been reading the forums for some time now, and have enjoyed and learned from the experience. I grew up on Elk, Sugar and Indian creeks, and as a kid fished and floated every chance I got. But, like most, adulthood struck, priorities changed, and I drifted far from the creeks and the outdoor life. But, that's about to change! DW and I have signed a deal on our own little piece of paradise on Elk River, and should be moving in the next month or so! We're excited...She with the five acre "homestead", Me with the river, night floats, panfishing, and floating with the grandkids. Thanks for this wonderful forum. Perhaps I might have information to share with you as I "rediscover" my youthful ambitions! Adios, Mahto
