  1. So I went to Estes Park and RMNP. Went hikng, fishing, and relaxing. I posted some pictures of evrything I saw. The elk were everywhere it was great. I am not much for words so I will let the picutures talk. http://picasaweb.google.com/JKribs/Colorado?feat=email#
  2. I will down there as well that weekend. I will be in the tent sites I can't remember the site but I will try to remember to look you that weekend.
  3. I use the wieghted wire, and then out some chenile down as an underlayment, it will bulk up the body also.
  4. Awesome... you finally got one. Congrats!
  5. Sounds good I will keep an eye out for you. If you see a girl in a pink fishing vest that will be my wife and I will have a camo hat on...just like everyone else there. hehe
  6. Cool I will be out there this weekend and also the weekend of the 10-12. Yes, there is a lot of money to start up. that is for sure.
  7. So what does this "lunker sucide" consisit of and look like? I am curious....
  8. Well welcome to the fly fishing life. Be prepared to spend some money intially. I started fly fishing about 2 years ago, and now tie my own flies. For montauk in Oct.... they like wolley buggers and mohiar leeches. Most of the really small stuff is gone by this point in time. As for dry flies the griffiths gnat size 16-18 is always a safe bet. Finally you can't go wrong with an egg pattern, either fuzz or glue. What weekend are you goign in Oct?
  9. Sure does thank ya much!!
  10. What size of flies were you using? ... from what I have been reading the smaller the better.
  11. A buddy of mine went down on a slough off the Missouri, out past the strip malls in chesterfield and the Spirit of St. Louis Airport. Google maps say Centaur Chute. He had good luck there with a worm and bobber.
  12. Thanks for thr info Tippet. FFM, Do you have to get a special pass to fish inside of the park? From what I have found thus far on the internet, I just need a fishing license for CO. Is this correct? Thanks.
  13. Yea h i plan on hitting up the Big Thompson... i have only heard godd things about it. I have been looking for other small water places near that area that doesn't get fished as hard.
  14. I have trip planned for CO in the middle of Sept. and I am staying in the Estes park area. I have been looking up different place to go fishing that is not too far away from there. Are any of these palces listed above around Estes Park? Thanks.
  15. Heres my 2 cents... My wife has Ocean Kayak sit on top to work on her tan. It is 30" wide and very hard to tip. The down fall is you are sitting in water the entire time, and it is only 8'6" long. I have a Old Town Loon 100 Angler edition, sit in. The anchor sits on the side, I wish it was a little wider, and it is 10' long. My dog doesn't fit in it with me, and there is little room for "stuff". I wish it had a dry box and was a little longer, but the plus side is that it is really easy to fly fish out of. One thing to look at is to make sure that your feet fit in there, I wear size 12 shoe and it took me a while to find a kayak with a cockpit big enough for my feet. Thanks.
  16. I was also using a wolly and spinner... they liked the flashy motion. - Jon
  17. Heading down to BSSP this weekend for the first time. I am guessing that there will be plenty of you out there this weekend. If you want to meet up or something you can PM me and we can meet some where if not I will see you out on the river.... (i will look like the guy that's on my profile.) I hope everybody has a great weekend of fishing, and Happy 4th to all.
  18. Are there any pics of the pattern you guys are talking about... Because the link above looks like a different pattern from the explanation. Thanks.
  19. I know I wish I had the power to give people tickets when they break the law. The state should start a program so normal people can issue citations... That would be awesome!
  20. I have a couple ideas of my own... I might just be talking out of my a$$ b/c I have never been there, but there could be two other ooptions that I have not seen yet.... 1. is that the people that are keeping their fish are keeping and taking home way more than what they should be, and 2. is with all of the rain this year and last are they being washed out of the park and into the main river. I know trout have a natural instinct to get out of the current so they don't get tired, but the stockies have never been in actual river currents before. Just an idea. Thanks.
  21. Dito, do you have links or pics?
  22. See place like that are for the people from the big cities that have never seen a trout before... or dirt. And the sad part is that people will pay to go there and think its cheap, compared to where they live.
  23. WELCOME, THERE'S A LOT OF INFO HERE.
  24. I have some true Fluoro P-Line 6#, not coated, and I had problems with it bird nesting on me on a spinning rod. My wife was mad at me b/c I gave that reel to her and it kept messing up on her. FYI.... other than that I don't really fish for smallies.
  25. Thanks again for the responses. So as I can see everybody else also pretty much uses 2lbs test which is good news for me!!
