If you were here a few weeks ago not much has change river levels are down about 1/2 inch at the most since then (3weeks ago) kayak will be fine there was a couple of kayaks on friday that did that section I asked them how much they dragged and they said it wasn't that bad asked a canoe that floated past me at the spring branch they had two poeple and overnight gear piled high said they dragged a few times but didn't have any real problems so according to them it doesn't sound like it's to low for just a kayak and one person I don't think your be dragging alot you will drag where you dragged a few weeks ago and I'd say thats it hope that helps you
  5. Nothing like a little colder air temps to make it feel like fall Put a rod in your hand and line in the water all you need after that is healthy rainbow to bite the hook and thats what I'm after this morning yesterday was a great day to be out and was rewarded with some nice fish after a long wade up river and a quick swim to the other side met with my a friend from my old home town at greer we fished together like old times and manage to pick up some very healthy trout and for the first time since we have been fishing together he caught the bigger fish for the day way to go Zack He earned it after fighting the brush and thorns he manage to make a cast into a hole thats just hard to fish no matter which way you went about it. After tying on one of my favorite flys the fight was on with a nice jump to get the blood flowing Zack new he had another nice fish from the point I laid down my rod and made my way to him for a helping hand in landing this fish in such strong currents Zack had the feeling of pain and Joy at the same time. Lack of fishing Time Due to being in active duty for the last 6 years or so. Plus hooking a hog resulted in muscle cramps but he fought threw the pain and continued the fight this wonderful fish was landed and a quick photo snapped beofore it was released unharmed then shortly after the point gave life to a new breed of fisherman or fisher woman I should say Zacks Girlfriend was rewarded with her very first Trout a healthy 16 incher Think it may have her hooked now cause she didn't lay down the rod for min. after that. It's amazing how much catching makes a difference in someone's injoyment of being on the water, it was clear to see thats for sure I love that Face people Make when they catch there first Trout What a wonderful thing that its The feeling I get from it is almost as exciting to me as it was the first time I caught a trout Thats why I love what I do Get out there folks and make some memories with a friend or a loved one take someone fishing that hasn't been before show them what you already know Cherish Yesterday,Dream Tomorrow,Fish Today

  9. Been Ctaching alot of smallies and google eye lately some nice smallies have started to turn up down river and the google have been doing well to late in the evenings Have fished the whole trout river system over the last few days and here is what I determined from it Greer Crossing to buck Bay(turners) can't keep them off the hook Black rubber legs been my fly of choice size 6 long shank caught alot of fish that were shaped like little footballs also the fish in that section have started showing off there spawning colors really well also lots of otters in this section now seen three at once at log jam I'm gonna start trapping I think Turner to whitten Fishing has been great early in the morning hours but coming to almost dead stand still by mid afternoon (Typical)day of fishing that part of the river system found some 5 pound plus trout over the summer including one that would of pushed 8 pounds in tumbling shoals plenty of fish still in that section but also plenty of other fisherman Fly of choice in that water (Crawdad patterns)and black stones size 8 with Egg dropper alot of google eye in this section with a few smallies Now the section I use to know nothing about whitten to halls bay (didn't fish below halls bay) found one really Big trout Feeding in 3inches of water never hooked her but did notice quite a few Nice trout were in this section more then I thought I will be back as soon as I get the chance there was a great spawn last year in this section have caught and seen alot of trout under 5 inches long over the whole river system but mostly from greer to turners and from whitten to halls bay used sinking line to get down in the deep holes with my normal flies put extra split shot something new I been playing with and have started to have great success with the deep 10 foot plus holes they hold fish of nice size but swinging a fly though them that deep can be tricky fished normal floating line in the lower sections of river Fly of choice Big rubberlegs BLK,BRW Found some big beavers at the old river talking 60 plus pounds If I had to guess can't wait to catch one in a trap this winter water levels have been low in places but deeper in others due to the flood last year the shoal below whitten boat ramp has been piled up with gravel and making the big whole in front of the boat ramp deeper this is the case all over the river system now to sum it up Get out there and fish they are there and in good numbers And wackyworm had a great time out there let me know how the rest of your float went and who won the fish a thon

  21. Made It down to sunburst Ranch around 3pm on monday and set camp up on the gravel bar and started fishing the run up then back down, found some fish nothing big we loaded the truck with our rods and hit the road in search of some more water to wade, amazing enough the gravel road we choose lead us straight to the water on the first try one of our friends was already there fishing and we invited him to join us the next day for the float we fished there untill it was too dark to see, together we picked up 5 fish the next day we sight fished to a big brown from around 5:30 am to 8 am most of the time was spent studing the fish before we took turns casting to it we had several follows but no takes so we loaded up and headed down to meet our friend after we set off from patrick bridge the fishing was off to a slow start but got better as the day went on we all picked up some fish with one I caught being a nice fat brown I thought it needed to smile for the camera so everyone could injoy this beautiful Fish I caught fish on the weighted rust color pats rubber leg and squirrel tail nymph dropper while my friends caught fish on black stones and eggs we all caught our share of fish wasn't the best day on The NFOW but wasn't the worst day by far either water level was around 860cfs with partly cloudy skies thanks to Justin for letting me stay at his place for the night we wish we wouldn't have forgot the coffee
  22. i would be to worried about thieves to leave it next to the road plus I live out next to the national forest and there really isn't anything here but gravel roads It's a smart idea though and I wish I didn't have to worry about thieves or I would put it at the canoe rental in alton . I did sell one cart the other day off the internet though so there are some people who are still into that kinda thing I would love to use if I had a good horse but then again If I had the time to use it I would probaly be fishing instead
