It's never a waste of time in my eyes I'll have to prove that to myself before I make the decision there no big fish in that hole but I'll have wished I didn't go when I fall in the water at 20 degree temps I'll have plenty more post as the winter pushes on anybody no where to find some ice studs you strap on your boots can't find mine guess I have to get some new one's alittle 2 mile hike isn't gonna keep me off the water this snow season
-
about half way between turners and whitten I hiked it the day before me and brian fished took the dog out looking for early deer sheds theres a big rock bluff on the right where I'm standing with a point over hanging the river alittle I climbed up it and took the picture was a magnificent view from there you could see down into the water gonna go back there when the water clears up and at noon so I can see if theres any big fish asking for my attention
-
well it was another day for me I was at it again started the day with gonna take the boat out and after a broke boot string and a trip back to the house before we got in the water it turned into the decision to just wade fish below turner's we hiked down river a little ways and both had a few light takes and jumping fish that lead to spit out hooks we moved on down a bit and started to even the score on lost fish to landed fish all though we didn't catch more then ten fish all together we didn't cover much water and moved quite slow in these temps you don't chance getting wet or at least I don't slow sure steps in high water you can end up on your rump in a hurry we caught fish on white minnow patters - white bead head rubber legs - white marabou jigs lots of weight to get down fast which also led to lots of lost flies for me today for me it was a Nice cold day to be out at least the sun was sinning for a bit tomorrow may be a different story pends on how much snow we get tonight if any if i will be able to make it to the river one downside to fishing the eleven point this time of year is steep hills on the only roads to the river which normally means impossible to get down and back up in snow or ice unless you want to hike 2 miles mmm thats always a option where's the studded ice cleets ? -

real simple size 8 or 10 3 x long bright pink egg yarn black thread can be weighted or unweighted with silver tungsten bead or not depending on water levels I like one thats heavy for fishing deep and one thats meant to be fished with a dropper or small split shot for shallow water think woolly bugger lose the hackle just lay the yarn over the top of the hook wrap so you make some nice even spaced lines about half way down the hooks bend and cut leaving about a 1/2 inch of yarn hanging free and thats it

Made It out today in the drift boat for the first time since she had arrived water level was at 1470 cfs when we left this morning and I was a little concerned But it turned out to be a great day Fishing was alittle on the slow side (High water) I started the day on the oars and right of the get go Brian picked up a couple goggle eye and small mouth when then switched and brought another small mouth to the boat was a nice one not real big just fat and healthy as the day went on with a Bald eagle being pushed down the river in front of us we had it pretty slow going we picked up some trout here and there and brian landed a nice 17 incher Me and brian spotted two nice fish and went after them for about a hour switching places I was finely able to get her to take and had her on she didn't put on much of a fight maybe late to spawn but looked healthy I got her in to about five feet and as brian reached in to Net we all No what happen next Hint the reason for no picture any how we pushed on catching a few more then hitting the ramp at turners over all I great day to be out Fishing almost all fish were caught on a white marabou jig the weight gets it to the bottom fast and looks like a drifting minnow under water works very well in high water the big girl was picked up on a extra heavy weighted stonefly with a dropper fly a call THE PINK

What's On Your Fishing List For Santa
Tito Degiosio replied to Larry Richards's topic in General Angling Discussion
Christmas came early the elf brought it via F350 dually all the way from Idaho Falls,Idaho Now if only I would have asked for good water levels I could be taking it out for a spin oh and Brian Sloss Not be sick when we do have good water levels It's ok brian I know you had the swine you must have been bad did you get coal hahaha he did also bring me a new sage flight fly rod in a 9 ft 5 wt and sage 4540 reel complete with backing and 5 wt rio line santa has good taste this year Now if I could just use his sleigh to get home that would be great -
what day you planing on heading over to current river I would be glad to join you if I can

Merry Christmas To all and I hope you have a great and safe day with your travels In case you don't already know theres a spike in water levels due to heavy rains just doesn't seem like we have gotten much of a break with the best time to fish being now for some of us If the snows start falling soon there could be trouble for all our creeks and streams lake levels are up and most streams were hit as well the Eleven point was not back down to normal levels from the last flood and was at around 825 cfs before it the rain started falling now it has gone above 2,200 cfs once again and with no hot air to remove the water and strickly counting on run off it will be awile before we see normal levels again since the eastern rivers are still swollen there no place for the eleven point to dump out quickly just be sure and check you water levels before heading out for the new years fishing trip I had mine plan and now I must find a different stream as well if theres ever a time to try a new smaller creek for the first time this may be it since slighty higher water doesn't affect them as badly and can even make it easier in some I think I gonna make my first trip to crane if the water levvels let me well once again everyone have a Merry Christmas and safe travels to all on there journey through the packed road ways Tito DeGiosio
