  1. Thanks! Yeah I'm a wade fishing kinda guy. As far as Michigan & Wisconsin go,... I don't think I have enough line to reach quite that far, plus my casting technique still sucks .
  2. LOL! OK,... Back to the run on Browns, I gather that the water temps need to get colder, so I'm thinking the later part of Nov to early Dec then? As opposed to Oct-Nov?
  3. Anyone know what the status is on Browns right now? Seems like white jigs are the going thing. Do they generally hang out between outlet #3 to the Rebar Hole this time of year? Thanks!
  4. Here's a few Coffee Bean bugs I made recently, but have yet to give 'em a try.
  5. Don, I couldn't agree with you more! It's just not very appealing. Now on the other hand, I have a relative that lives on the upper end (as I call it) of the James between Marshfield & Strafford, & everytime I'm out there, we'll go down to the river, as it borders his property & maaan what a difference, it's always so clear & clean & quiet! I'd swear it wasn't the same river if I didn't know better. BIG difference for sure!!!
  6. Wow,... great video! That low level flying through the river canyon looks like a blast! Thanks for sharing.
  7. I believe I saw the same thing, it seemed fairly close & was VERY bright, traveling in a NNE direction after sunset, I didn't bother checking the satellite tracking coordinates but figured it more than likely was the ISS. http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sight...mp;city=Branson

  9. Great suggestion Brian! I'll stay tuned to see if this evolves, then I'll have to make an appearance. It'd be pretty sad to start a topic like this, & then not show up. Thanks!
  10. I went to Delaware Town for the first time today just to look around at what it had to offer. I had to look real hard too! And quite honestly,... I couldn't find much. If someone can clue me in as to what this place has to offer that'd be fine. To me the whole area just looked nasty! As I drove by the first turn out area (boat ramp), I didn't see much so I proceeded to the second area, again, all I saw was one little trail through the tall weeds that led down to the river which was so slow moving it almost looked stagnant. On to the boat ramp area, again didn't see anything appealing to me at all there either. One thing that did catch my eye was the posted sign stating the condition of water samples from there contained unacceptable amounts a e-coliform so, NO SWIMMING / WADING. I seriously doubt that I'll go back. Disappointed,
  11. Great information guy's, thanks! I'll only wade in what I'm comfortable with & always keeping in mind being able to get back safely.
  12. I've tried using the search feature but can't seem to locate any info on units running & being able to wade. I figure probably 0-1 to be able to wade, 1-2 might be questionable depending the local...? If anyone could give a "heads up" on water flow from generation units whereas it's still wadeable I greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance.
  13. Looks like the MTFA guy's might be the way to go for myself as well, so I might "hook-up" with them on one of the dates. Thanks for all the input & suggestions!
  14. I've wondered the same!
  15. Bill's not quite having the best of luck! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POdOBXOXQts
  16. I've been to Bryant Creek in the past, but only clear down past Ava at Trappist Abby in Rippee. Is there a closer location to access Bryant that's not as far (from Spfld) & is good wade fishing? Thanks!
  17. Here's a link for classes, & there is NO FEE to attend. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s...ID=15#workshops
  18. Well, I'm not sure how in depth they are, but classes are held at Bass Pro on saturday mornings from 9 am to 11 am, you just need to go to their website to check the schedule on which type of class you're wanting, & pre-registration is required, which can be done by calling in.
  19. Forgive me if this sounds a bit lame, but has anyone attended a fly casting class, if so, what are the benefits other than studying, applying, & practicing the techniques. I know they occassionally hold them at the White River Fly Shop at Bass Pro, but I wasn't sure just how informative it'd be, rather it be for kids learning, older people wanting to get into it, for everyone, or just what the "norm" is? Thanks!
  20. I had read, (prior to Sat), that there was going to be alot of "hoopla" with the 50th Anniversary of the dam, free tours & all. 1 unit was online at the time I checked, the weather was,...well you all know what the forecast was for, I figured with the sketchy weather, all the celebratory hype, it was going to be sorta busy, & opted to not go fishing, not to mention the ceremonial 10 min dump.
  21. I've been a little concerned for awhile now, but has anyone heard about C.U. or the Corp of Engineers having a proposal about daming the Niangua, maybe it was the James, I'm not certain for sure, but I believe it was to affect the land owners in the given region near the west side of Webster Co.? I believe there was discussion on this about 10 yrs ago, & now recently again. But I've not heard of anything confirming this. Thanks
  22. Great pics! Alaska has some beautiful scenery, and to quote Phil, "words can't describe", pictures barely convey as well, all I can say is that you truely have to be in the middle of it to really appreciate the beauty of nature. Alaska is not just a "place to visit, it's a feeling you experience". Thanks for sharing the pics! One more note if you don't mind me saying,... once you step off the beaten path, you soon become part of the food chain. That's not intended to be a joke, so if you visit the state, just remember that one. Have a safe return home!
  23. Great write-up. Looks like "Jay" has quite an eye for photography as well!
  24. Great information Bill,..thanks! Reason I asked was, I have a family member that owns 70 acres in that area & the James runs right through a good portion of accessible area on his property, he as well as I have wanted to walk & wade fish upstream a day then go downstream another day, he only uses a spinning setup, which I also have, but being new to flyfishing, I thought it might be a fun challenge to try. Thanks again for the tips, it's appreciated much!!!
