  1. Put in Sunday before light at Masters. Couldn't get anything on the spook or popper, but they bit the wiggle wart like crazy. Starting at Bluff ends and working my way into main lake cuts and coves produced a lot of largemouth in the 13-14 in range. Caught 21 bass with only 3 that kept. Crankbait basically quit around 930. Interesting thing but I ended up sight fishing for Smallies after that believe it or not. Started fishing a jig on bluff ends and bluff banks and after I got it stuck and went to get it out I trolled up to the shore to retrieve it and was surprised when I saw two dark smallmouth dart out from behind a large rock and back into the depths. They were sitting right on the shore in about 1-2 foot of water. Started throwing jig on the bank and caught several this way. Seen more cruising around right at the bank with their noses in the rocks. Unfortunately once I was close enough most of the time they got finiky and darted off. So I ended up backing off and blindly threw up to shore hoping to hit one on the nose. The ones I saw were big ones too, most looked in the 15-17 range, one looked enormous and I got so excited I ended up spooking it when i flipped my jig about a foot in front of its face. The bite was really light too. When i caught the ones on the shoreline they felt more like a bluegill biting, just soft pecks. Lost about a 17-18 incher at the boat when it spit my jig back in my face. Didn't have a net in my little boat unfortunately and needed the mean things to just settle down for me! : P But thats smallmouth, it was a blast catchin em. All in all a really cool experience.
  2. People are idiots lets just put it at that. At Table Rock on Sunday and was drop shotting the bluffs outside the Chateau marina by the dam. Using the wind to drift down the bank while drop shotting and then motoring back up and doing it again. Had one jet ski come within 40 yards of me twice! When they have the whole lake i just don't understand that. And then to make it worse I motored back up to the point to start my drift again and the Ski shot towards the bluff wall, came within 20 feet of the shore and did a donut! Right over the spot where I had just pulled two nice keeper Kentucks! Then him and his wife proceeded to drive up to the boat and Holler "Looks like your having a good day there!" as I was pulling in another short Kentuck. I was so on fire all I could do is yell back "It'd be a he** of a lot better if people weren't driving over the timber I was fishing!" as I proceeded to shoot him the bird. I think he got the picture and finally took off. Needless to say that spot was shot, but it wasn't too bad on account pulled in 2 more keeper bass on the very next dock I decided to go to. Heard the lyrics to a song recently..."been around the world and found that only stupid people are breeding..." Thats about right...
  3. If people really wanna find out how to catch fish, put some money in and fish the CPA Amateur side. As a junior in college this is my first year doing that and I have been lucky enough to get paired up with the likes of Jackie Davis and Shane, who took 2nd this past weekend. I was always the kid that just got out the 10 inch power worm and started chucking it at 45 degree banks, boy has that changed. I have learned so much so far by watching and being around all these great and experienced fishing. Sure some entry fees can get steep, especially when in school, but it pays off with some of the things you can learn from these guys.... ...On a different note, been dating a girl for 2 and a half years that I'll prolly marry and she comes fishing with me all the time and has only managed to catch an 11 in bass as her biggest!!! And even then only 1 or 2 every time we even go out. Screw these monster fish, how bought getting back to the basics...If I could get her to hook onto just one bass over 15 inches she would go nuts!!! And we all know how great life would be if the love of your life was also in love with fishing too... I've caught 15 and 16 inch bass and she freaks out saying its the biggest thing ever! Now I just gotta get her some!
  4. Hey Don! I'm fishing TRL for the Amateur CPA this saturday, not really familiar with deep summer fishing, especially on Table Rock. Im just now getting the hang of the drop shot this year and only have those small chompers worms. What is a "crawler" exactly? Thanks for any information anybody!
  5. Hey Amp! I've been reading a lot of ur posts on here and just got around to getting an account on here myself. I've had pretty good luck to say the least this year on fellows compared to previous but other times ill go out and get about 2 bites, and I see you've been tearing it up yourself. I pretty much stay on the southern leg of the lake in the coves. WHich end do you usually fish when you're there? And when u were fishing flats last week in 1 to 3 ft of water are u talking about the southern most bank past that big cove on your right side? And where have u been catching your muskie at? I throw bass lures all the time everywhere but haven't ever had a musky hit one, maybe im just not in their environment...Thanks man! Maybe ill see u out there i've been fishing that place like crazy this year 14 ft flatbottom jonboat c ya around! ps... I got my girlfriend two baby ducks for easter and we let them go at fellows about 4 weeks ago, they're the two ducks that are always by the handicap platform and they're pretty much full grown now. If anyone sees em don't be afraid to throw em some bread! I'm sure they'll appreciate it! Thanks everyone!
