I got out this week for a low water float. I was going to go out Monday but the temp, at my house, was 42 and it’s always colder on the river. So I chose another day, but when I went I wimped out and wore waders. Last trip I couldn’t find a lure they wanted but yesterday they were hitting everything. So caught another walleye and the smallmouths and goggle eyes were out too. Took a few pictures . The bigger smallmouths were in the deep holes. I hooked another gar on a shallow crankbait but he jumped out and through the lure. It was a great day on the river, a little more walking than I would have like but still a great day. Of course I released everything . CPR…..

I kayaked down the river this week. The river was low and slow. It was a slow fishing day too. I went through a lot of lures but I couldn’t find the right ones or the right depth. As you can see I found another walleye. I use to have walleye holes on the river but now I catch them everywhere. I also caught a gar. When I got it next to the kayak I took a video in case he got off…which he did. But I counted it as a catch since I would have released him anyway….no picture worthy smallmouth. I’m wondering how many walleyes will be caught on Sept 21. We will need pictures 😁… Great day on the river and they were all released….CPR…. IMG_6920.mov

I kayaked down the river last week. A storm was coming in so it good now days you can take your weather radar, phone, with you down the river. The last 45 min I had to just paddle to beat the weather. Saw a dog house with a message and a strange object in the river. I caught the walleyes on the same lure. Good day on the river even if it was a little rushed…. I took a few pictures and Released them all…..

I had a double this week on the river. Not my first and hopefully not my last, always fun. It was windy but had a great time. You could throw about anything and I think a goggle eye would hit it. Even found some crappies vcompress_9.mov

I did take a video, for the grands, of an eerie spinning foam….🤪. But doesn’t this video make you want to grab your fishing pole and go down to the creek….. vcompress_7.mov

I got out on the river this week. Floated down to Delaware. I thought the rain from the day before would have helped with the level and flow but no. I caught a mess of goggle eyes, they were hitting everything. But you never know what you’re going to catch going down the river and as you can tell by the pictures I caught a “smorgasbord of fish”. Nothing big but the catfish was right at 22 inches on an 1/8 oz jig, and she did towed me around the river. It seemed she was swimming a pattern, on the bottom of the river, one next to the bank, one next to a stump, and one out near the center. We did this loop 4 or 5 times. But I could be wrong…. Great day on the river, released them all..

I got on the river this week and used a “new to me” trailer on my jigs. The goggle eyes were eating it up. Probably just right color, right action and right time of day, but it will be on my rod next trip. The smallmouths were very acrobatic, most of them jumped out of the river on the way back to the kayak. Caught a long skinny cat, on the jig and once again I found another walleye. She was upstream from the bridge at Shelving Rock in a small riffle 2 ft deep. Caught her on a crankbait that dives 5 ft. Great day on the river…released them all….CPR…

I got on the river this week and thought I would post a couple pictures of a few of the fish. The largest bass I caught was very dark in color. I don’t think I have caught one that dark before. I had a good day catching smallmouths, goggle eyes, pumpkinseeds, a gar that got off and a couple of walleyes, someone must be stocking them on the James…..only kidding. I found the walleyes in the deep holes and caught them on crankbaits. One was pretty nice…. I did catch a fish, I thought, and while I was reeling it in it seemed sort of strange when I finally saw it, it looked like the line had wrapped around a stick with the fish caught on the lure. When it got close enough, a gar had the fish in its mouth and my lure was still in the fish’s mouth, swimming upstream. Needless to say they both got away….but they left me a story to tell….Great day on the river….released them all…..

Still recovering, so how about a couple of pictures, from my trip before the Gar float. I caught smallmouth, no pictures, cats, and a walleye…..Delaware to Shelvin….

1/8 oz jig…. I caught her on a 5 foot light action rod. She towed me up and down the river for 10 min. I had to get out of the kayak, wasn’t enough room for both her and me….but I did land and release her….I did have a rope lure but never had any luck with it.

I just had cataract surgery so while I’m setting around I thought I would post pictures of my last couple floats. For some reason I caught a Gar on both floats but when they get along side the kayak they get off. I blame boney mouth…. vcompress_2.mov vcompress_3.mov

Got out on the river last week. I would of posted earlier but sometimes living in the country and the internet don’t go together. The starting temp on the river was 37 degrees so I was layered up, but it was headed to 77, I think. I had a nice fog coming off the river to start with. Caught smalls and goggle eyes. Took a picture of the size I was catching. And I did have one picture worthy fish. I took a few pictures of the leaves but I think we need another week. I downloaded a photo compression app so I could post more pictures. Nice day to be out but too much dragging….. CPR them all…

I got out on the river Monday, meet fellow Ozark Angler Dan, and this is what happened that day. I like fishing in shorts but the temp was 47 degrees, in the morning, so I had to get the waders out. We all know the river is very low, and getting lower. I floated down to Delaware. I had to use shallow lures most of the way down. I also had to show the walleye 4 different lures until he found one he liked, or he was just getting annoyed. Caught some nice ones, small ones and a handful of goggle eyes. I would have posted a few more of the “picture worthy ones” but reached my 9.77 limit . Great day one the river…..CPR them all…..

Thanks for the comment curtisce. A week before the walleyes, I caught this “ugly walleye”. I have only caught two of these before. Usually they either throw the lure out or when they come along the kayak their snout hit the side of the kayak and it’s knocks the lure out, so I bailed out and walked it to the bank. I keep my camera, cell phone, around my neck and thought I should take a quick video before I lost it. Camera in one hand , rod in the other.crazy… https://youtu.be/e42DTIVAE4E

I got out on the river last week. I dont need to say it was low and slow, more walking then I normally do. It was a little cool in the morning so I wimped out and wore my waders. The river started out a little foggy and at one place a mossy back turtle came over to the kayak to say hey. I caught fish, but I didn't catch any goggle eyes, strange. So all I caught were bass and 3 walleyes. Three walleyes on one trip is a record for me. All of the walleyes were caught on a 1/8 oz black lure. As I was taking a picture of one, it fell between my legs, even without waders I don't think they bit anything but fingers , do they? Great day on the river, I had it all to myself. Took pictures of a few and released them all...

Flysmallie, thanks for the comment. ColdWaterFshr, I caught the bass, lipped it with my thumb and took the lure out. I didn't want to lose it reaching for my phone, camera, so I used my gripper. So......... now that I have explained can I have my punch back?
