I've known several farmers that have pheasants that run right along with the chickens and guineas, I've even seen em here in bolivar at the salebarn being auctioned with the ducks, geese, chickens, and turkeys, and I'm not saying that they are supposed to, nor that the "lodge" was supposed too either.

I would say that if you were intentionally stocking the birds then you might need some sort of permit, Of course in some instances birds (pets) justmight happen to get away or out of their cages. In that case I would say that a 12 gauge would be the most effective way of gathering them so that the do not effect the natural population

Quail huh?!! Almost as elusive as BigFoot!!! I have heard they are making a comeback,.. just wish people would understand that a nice neat pretty fencerow is nice,.. and cleaning up the old brushpile in the back 40 probably was long over due,....but those little birds need a place to hang out too!!!

Isn't believing the most educated decision? I came up with that theory back with the Y2k scare and now the upcoming 2012 end of times or "world enlightenment" theory thats floating around thanks to the mayan calender,... If you beleive and are wrong then your still ok, if you choose not to believe and ae wrong, you are then fishing up that creek without a paddle so to speak,.. and no fox_76 doesn't stand for x-files "fox moulder" LOL

Boogey man, no. and sorry about being on your dock, LOL. Just kiddin. I've heard all those things too. Not so much a beleiver in suck things as curious. My dear old grandfather has always told me stories of black panthers for years and years, killing his cattle stuff like that, and accoriding to every consevation agency, and animal expert they simply don't exist around here. I do understand that they have found a black leaopard in califonia or somewhere and that a small population of them have came up from south america or something, And I my self have heard the "screams" in the night of cats. (not deer, although they can sound pretty creepy).

Thanks I think I will try to make it over then!

I watch all those shows that come on something about it just is intriging to me, the possibilty that it's true or that there are people out there that are brave enough to sy they seen something that wasn't there, big black cats (panthers), big foot, the "momo monster" a bigfoot creature of lore here in Missouri from around the late 60's up around Hannibal, Mo. Anyway you get the idea, I then read in Les strouds journal from one of his shows which is available on his website, Yes he does all the foot work, camera work, survival, and still keeps a journal. that he was spooked from a growling noise while doing one of his shows in Canada, knowing all the native species and the noise could not have came from one of them. Les is the man by the way, Bear Grylles, close second,... I thought I'd just put the question out there to you guys if you have ever had an "unexplainable" siting or experience while in the great outdoors. (no I didn't hit the peace pipe before loggin in today). Just curious,...

Agreed that God put everything here for a reason and all creatures Great, Small, And CREEP must have a purpose and reason to be here. I actually caught a show on I think it was discovery channel or maybe history channel, any way about why we (humankind) have a fear of snakes, and they said that yes it was alot to do with the way they have been portrayed thru the years, all the way back to Adam and Eve. Also another good snake story is that my wifes Grandfather who lives down in Arkansas has a 1500 acre spread or so and had hired a guy to do some work for him. I'm not sure of the details I think the guy lway he lived on the property as a hired hand. Anyway he had several boas, pythons and such raised themas a hobby, Gramps and him had a falling out the guy ended up doing a midnight move and a couple weeks ago Poor Gramps found some of those exotics swimmin' around in the cattle's watering hole! Thankfully Arkansas should have cold enough winters to kill of those non native species but you fella's down there should keep an eye out for em. And yes the two that he found got to meet their maker pretty quick form my understanding.

Black snakes, Ok they can live,.. as long as I know where they are at. at all times. and they do eat alot of pests(mice, rats, other snakes, etc.)
-
Well,.. Yes if I feel threatened or feel that they are invading my personal space a little too much they will be joining the ranks of countless other creepy crawlers that have snuck up on me! If I only see them and they are just doing their thing and minding their business, I will let them pass,. but I also had 3 kids with me at the campsite so Didn't really wanna risk letting this guy hang out too long

Yeah, I know it was a regular copperhead. Just wanted to share the experience. LOL. They eat baby calves huh? too bad I couldn't get this one to do the laundry,... Let's just say that they are not bladder friendly , nor do they make good tent-mates!!!

Alright guys, yes I too hate guitar hero, but are you guys really telling me that you haven't seen the cabela's games at walmart when you were hooking up your kids with the latest violent, bloodspilling, kill em all game? I have purchased a couple of the cabela's hunting games, and a fishing game made by rapela. While of course they are no comparison to the real thing, they do help me to get through the off seasons!!!

While camping this weekend I noticed alot of boats fishing off one of the points at master campground loop c, it is a very very shallow point/ sand bar that extends into the lake a couple hundred feet and is only about waist deep, i even saw a sail boat get hung up on it and he was about 200ft out! but there was alot of fishing activity right on that sand bar, were they going for whites maybe?

a little off the subject of trout rules and regulations but recently my father was fishing a cove on stockton lake and noticed something in the water, it was a stringer. upon further inspection he discovered that a large snapping turtle was eating the blue gill that was at the bottom, he looked around and saw nobody, no tents, vehicles, or boats, the stringer had been left there probably from the weekend before, also on the stringer WAS a nice largemouth measured 15 inches, would have measured more he said if it wasn't for being left on the stringer for so long. it was a pitifull looking fish, all sucked up and skinny from being tied up for who knows how long, anyway, he left the bluegill for the turtle and left the stringer, but did take the bass. seemed like such a waste to have caught a fish like that and then just leave it there. !!! !!! too bad there isn't at least a written test to get your fishing liscense!!
