Daddyo, How did your fishing trip to CO go?? Any pics?? Corky

I think that the lake is still stirred up from the flood. I know the water that is coming in now is clear but there was so much dirty run off that came into that lake that it just hasn't settled yet. With the dry weather we are experiencing I would think it should start getting a lot clearer towards the middle of July. Corky

JC, I fished this morning and didn't see any floaters and the water wasn't close to 75 degrees. I don't know where that info is coming from. They actually turned one generator on at about 8 and the flow was very good. The fishing wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. They would bite for a while....then turn off. Anyway the water isn't cold, cold.....but it wasn't that warm where I fished. Tight lines, Corky

Amy, I've been there before and have a good idea how to catch the trout. I knew they have been experiencing a lot of flooding up there, so I didn't want to go if the water was still high and off color. How did you go about fishing there? Did u use spin cast or fly fishing equipment? Have you fished there before? If some of the people at the store are being rude........then maybe they should be let go........especially since the lively hood of that store depends on the anglers that fish Roaring river.....just a thought. Thanks for your update. Tight lines, Corky

Fishermen, Planning on heading to Roaring river sometime next week. Anyone have any updates on what the water is like and what they are hitting? Thanks in advance. Tight lines, Corky

The first place I fished was the north east corner of the island. Like u said lots of trees down on that side. Down at the Watts area the main channel seems to be much wider than before. I suppose we'll learn more as the water clears and the flow gets back to normal.

LOL yep he was a bit different. He apparently was a victim of the fast dropping water levels. I found him south of the Watts area and took a pic with my fly rod for size comparison.

Water was off for the first time since the great flood yesterday. LIR has really changed.........you'll see what I mean when you go there. Water was way off color but the trout are still there. I was able to catch them at the end of riffles and into the beginning of runs. The bait that worked for me was grey and brown scuds. I did see one fellow doing really well on a small white jig below an indicator. I didn't catch any really big trout but they are there. Lots of fish got stranded when they shut the water off, mostly shad but a lot of crappie also along with channel cat and some trout. If you have any questions, just ask.......I'll try and give you what I saw or know. Tight lines, Corky

I doubt it will be flowing just right by then. They may have the flood gates off by that time....but I'm betting they will still be running water through the generators which won't be the best conditions for trout. Corky

Was wondering what the affect will be on our trout with this flood. I was up at the dam today and I don't think the water temp will be a big issue at this time. I did notice the water coming from the power house was pretty much the same color as the water coming from the gates. I would have thought the water from the PH would have been much clearer. Anyway it appears it will be a long time before the water levels are where we can fly fish. Went down to the Watts WMA also and noticed the trout shoot was gone. I don't know if they took it down before the flood or the flood took it. The water was definately up high enough to get it. Anyway if anyone would like to chime in on this topic....I certainly would be interested. Tight lines, Corky

Get ready.....Im here in eastern OK and more is on it's way!!

Saw that the corp flow was supposed to be 25 all day tomorrow. I'm fishing Taney for the first time tomorrow and was wondering how swift that flow is for fly fishing. Anyone who can respond with that info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Tight lines. Amos

Glad u had a good day........I wanted to go today but the rain stopped that. You wouldn't happen to have any pics of your setup from yesterday would you? I'd like to see exactly what you were catching them on. Thanks in advance. Asap52

Well I don't know what it was but I caught trout today until I was almost tired of catching them..LOL. Can that happen?? I fished a run below a riffle with a Griffiths Gnat as a indicator and a FB Gold ribbed Hares ear nymph as a trailer. Man they tore it up! Also caught a few on a green scud and more on a pleasant tail. It was like they were stacked up waiting for their turn to eat. I'm not just talking little trout.....I'm talking some really nice sized fish. Anyway in the short time I've been fly fishing, today was way and beyond the best day I have had. Today was also the first time I have used a furled leader and I have to say I loved it. Only tied one extra tippet on all day long! Thats my story and I'm sticking to it....... Tight lines. Asap52

Just got this em back from Zebco: We most likely will not have one this year. It takes a lot of products to have a sale and we do not have much this year. If we did have one, it would be in the fall so feel free to inquire again in a month or so. Zebco Brands 6105 E. Apache Tulsa, OK 74115 1-800-588-9030
