Been fishing my whole life and have never truly hooked myself until this morning. I carry side cutters in my boat but had to run back to the truck for a mirror. Went ahead and pulled the boat out after extracting the hook from my neck. I figure my luck is about used up for the day.

Stayed at Three Oaks Resort on Norfork last July and loved it. Reminded me of resorts I stayed at up north as a kid. Great location, owner was easy to work with, boat slip on private dock, awesome view. Cabins were clean, owner has been working on renovations. Plan on staying again soon. Was impressed with the quality of the fishery.

I'd say less than 10% of my fish on the 110 in rivers have been under 14". I've only been fishing it for a month, the law of averages may catch up sometime soon but, I hope not.

Interesting, I've had days with lower hookup averages and have wondered if it was size or mood of the fish. Which hook seeems to be sticking them most? Almost ALL of my fish have had the front hook in their mouth with the rear outside, some have had the front hook in the mouth with the rear of the plug in their mouth, but only a few have had the rear hook only.

Talked to a buddy last week that was telling me about the new 75 size. I might have to stop in to check them out in person. Same buddy has a few 90s he doesn't throw that I was planning on picking up to try. I've gotten away from throwing any WTDs. Used to fish them quite a bit for largemouth, they just never made their way into my river arsenal. The plopper has me wanting to get back to them though. I've been fishing the plopper in places that I would normally throw a buzz but also in areas I think a Walking plug would be better suited for. With so many options out there now, any recommedations on sizes and styles to get me started?

Missed out on the initial hype that surrounded this bait but finally picked up a few last month in the 110 and 130 sizes. Been a fun bait that has produced some quality fish. Not sure what this guy was thinking but he got the front treble in his mouth.

Water is looking a bit better. Not sure what the rain we got locally did but, I caught a few this week before the storms. Jigs, Spinnerbaits, and Topwaters. Temps were 81-82.

Thanks! Most of the fish I caught for the morning looked like they had been gorging themselves.

Nice fish on a tough stretch! Some quality fish in there if you catch them at the right time.

Had a fun morning on the river and caught some fish. Best fish was right at 18. I was fishing above the Big and visibility was worse than I expected. Is the water still dingy from the rains we had the last week of June? I would have thought it cleared up more than it has.

Forgot to mention, we also had some great Ice cream in Mountian Home at Paradice Cream.

Ate at Fred's one night. The place was busy and for good reason, the catfish was great. My wife loved their hushpuppies.

Got to fish 4 mornings and found fish everyday. Caught them on topwater early and then moved out to main lake points or brush piles as the sun topped the trees. No pigs but I caught at least 1 over 3lbs everyday and my average fish was 2-2.5lbs. I fished the Bennents arm one morning and above the 101 bridge the others. Norfork is a gorgeous lake and a great fishery, I'm looking forward to fishing it again someday.

Thanks for the input! We are headed out tomorrow morning. Hopefully I figure out enough to get on some fish. Any good places to eat in the area?

It looks like it could be some kind of turtle trap but I don't understand the floats then? Obviouisly I'm ignorant to trapping though.

easier ways to dispatch a squirrel than drowning. I know everyone else leaves their trash laying around down there. I had higher expections out of you.

spot on what I was thinking for gills. I'm not a huge fan of vertical presentations but you do what you gotta to get on fish. I was thinking dropshotting might be good for one of the more experienced kids. Maybe get him on some spots. Any reason to check out docks? Seems like shade is a rare commodity on the lake. Thanks!

No. Lower river around the Fenton area.

Going to be down next week on vacation in the Bidwell area. I'm looking forward to checking the lake out and will primarily be targeting largemouth in the AM. I assume I will also be taking a couple of the kids in our group out for some bluegill in the afternoon. I've been pouring over maps and have to admit I'm a little out of my element on this type of lake. I'm NOT looking for anybody's spots or brushpiles but any help in approach would be greatly appreciated. I assume I will be fishing deep but hope there is a shallow bite early. I've been focusing on bluff ends, main lake points on channel swings, pockets and coves on channel side. What depth does the thermocline normally setup at? Whats the traffic like on the lake? I'll be fishing out of a 17' aluminum. Thanks in advance to any replies!

Saw this while fishing the lower river yesterday. Looks like some kind of fish trap? It was around the size of the basket on a shopping cart. Thought traps were illegal in MO?

Been a while but finally found some time to get on the water. Got out last Tuesday on the lower and found some chunky spots.

I may gave been catching a few Z's in the blind last Sunday, when I heard my buddy from the opposite end of the blind mutter, "Whoa... out front..." I opened my eyes to a wall of Wood ducks passing 20 yards in front of us. A never ending wall of wood ducks that looked like a flock of black birds flying by. We all just sat there and stared as they flew through; it never even crossed our minds to reach for our guns. This morning I just happened to look down to the other end of the blind as a Cardinal flew in and accosted my hunting partner before exiting out my shooting hole. I'm not sure which one was freaked out more, the cardinal or my buddy.

Sometimes you just don't bring your "A" game. Tuesday we had ducks land in the decoys and fly away, a few groups of woodies swing through at 20-25 yds and more than a few groups of mallards I didn't call because I wanted them at 25 yds instead of 35. We never even fired a shot. Still, I'll take a day on the river over a day in the office anytime and I even got to work a few ducks. It's still early season, plenty of time to knock the rust off.

Congrats on a great day! Sounds like you guys had a good time.
