  1. i think it's more a matter of finding them instead of what lure to use. I've only found them by the lakehouse when bass fishing last summer.
  2. i go with the one that has orange in it, not sure which that is. a yellow 3/8 spinnerbait got my biggest LM last year, it was 18-20inches. haven't been out much yet this year
  3. try wiggle warts and smaller spinnerbaits in white or yellow. for some reason, they go after the bass lures. I confirmed that with the guy using the float tube out there all the time, making vids. He catches them regularly when bass fishing
  4. see Trout commander, don't be afraid to ask. We're all friends here
  5. i would, but my youngest would probably cry over that. she has a hard time seeing a worm get it
  6. I'd be interested in knowing when the run is going, since I'm planning a trip with the wife and kids. I'd take a weekday off to come down to avoid crowds. I'm thinking around April 5th
  7. thanks Dutch, I was thinking of some small minnow imitators instead of worms. I have them with a slip bobber set-up but I think that should work
  8. very true Wayne, thanks!!!
  9. i may have to check out the Shoals motel, thanks for the suggestion. Yeah, with the rain, I'm waiting to hear from folks on when the run starts how about the bait question for the kids? Wayne, never been to the Taneycomo for whites, is that a run spot there too?
  10. once the whites decide to start running, I'm wanting to take the wife and kids fishing from the bank. Where are the best spots to do that? I've been to Blunks before and that may be the place, but is there better bank fishing over at McCords or around Galena with-out any bush wacking? Also, the kids are small so they're used to the worm/bobber set-up. Does this work well for whites or does someone recommend a different set-up for the kids?
  11. course, if we get the downpoar they're predicting it'll overflow the banks. Seems like these events put the freeze on the bite for a while
  12. http://ccheadliner.c...19bb2963f4.html that is the most confusing article. It goes back and forth and even Kyle admits it's just a scare tactic. Last year there was an article talking about a greater police presence due to the drinking and partying. Seems to make more sense to enforce no alcohol and nip the problem in the bud. I intend to keep fishing there! I'm even going to spit on the precious dam as I climb over it!
  13. I don't think that they all pack up and head south:yaeh-am-not-durnk: actually, I've never caught a smallmouth out of Springfield lake and I've gone in the winter. I think the low water levels this year made for lousy fishing. It did for me anyways. It doesn't seem like fish are willing to chase anything and you have to throw a plastic on top of their heads to get a bite. I used to mostly fish plastics, but it is too slow for my taste now that I prefer topwater, spinnerbaits or crankbaits instead. This fall weather may help the bite, but without waders, I'm more limited to Springfield lake or shore fishing the rivers.
  14. had 3 hours to kill y-day so I thought I'd hit the Finley while the weather was nice. I went up from Riverside bridge and hit a few pools. The water was pretty cold, but this was in the afternoon so it was o.k. The water was clear and very low, there are several trees down now, not making this as good a float as it used to be. I tried everything and only got 1 miss on topwater.
  15. Can't blame those land owners for trying. There is always trash left behind and beer boxes from the partying there. Maybe posting no alcohol signs would make more sense. It's the partying that's the real issue, not trespassing from those that want to fish or have kids playing in the creek. If anyone has an run-ins with the law, let us know. Otherwise I see no reason why I can't fish the lake
  16. now that I think about it, it was a strange sign. It said no trespassing, in cooperation with the land owners, or something like that. Someone went to a lot of trouble spray painting those boulders though. it's a mystery
  17. very similar, except now they posted no trespassing signs on the sides of the banks. I can't imagine they can enforce trespassing when someone with a boat is climbing the spillway. Painting the boulders purple doesn't make sense when they are in the middle of the river like that. found last year's article about Linden: http://ccheadliner.com/news/article_7dcd2dc7-c017-522d-b7cd-27dcec06b1ed.html
  18. sorry, who was it that wrote that article and how do we go about "educating" the Sheriff's office? It doesn't make sense to me that it is now trespassing, after the bridge reconstruction. There was just an article last year about this being a "hot spot" that was going to see more police presence. It went into detail about how it was not trespassing as long as you didn't leave the banks of the river. Funny thing, I can't find that article on local news sites. Now this year we are trespassing? Makes no sense
  19. I guess the purple paint on the large boulders means no trespassing. Found this article: http://farmtalknewspaper.com/areafarmnews/x1418601715/Purple-paint-means-Keep-Out-in-Mo So there's no access, even river access to Linden lake if you can't go past the purple boulders. That doesn't seem legal, I thought a navigatable river was public property!
  20. here's their number 417-369-2266 I called and they have a message machine for call back.
  21. wow, sounds like a great outing to me for this weather. Were they shallow or deep? Were you on the main lake body or near the freeways?
  22. problem is, there's no way to get to the lake unless you access it from the sides which now have no trespassing signs. What we need is a pool ladder to sit in the middle of that over-flow
  23. good question. I was wondering if fish remain in the area of that lakehouse or do they all migrate up the river. I'm not too familiar with patterns on this lake
  24. got there early this morning and there was a guy on on bobcat hauling things under the bridge. I asked him about parking and he said not to park under the bridge since they were still cleaning up. I parked in the next clearing down river. He stated that there was no trespassing allowed, but I had been there before and brushed it off. However, now there are new signs posted along both sides of where the water fall is. They are signs for no trespassing, so I quickly got the boat into the lake before anyone saw me. The fishing was o.k., but they were spooked and I had to practically hit them on the head with a plastic in order to get bites. No other lures were working. I think it's due to this cold front though, because the water itself wasn't that cold. I'll be curious to see if KY3 or other local news sources post an article about no longer accessing Linden lake. They may be planning on closing it off to the public completely
  25. Yes! I saw that on the MODOT site and called just to be sure. I'll hit it early mornings this weekend and see how well it fishes now. It may be hard to catch them with blue skies. Probably have to slow it down with plastics, which I hate. oh well, at least it's open again
