  1. Planning to upgrade my electronics and was wondering the current status of Lakemaster maps, as compared to Navionics.
  2. Quick question for you. I have a '14 combo similar to yours and I am interested in adding a second trolling motor battery. On your boat, what is the battery configuration? In other words, where are the two deep cycle batteries located? It doesn't seem like there is room for a second battery in the vicinity of the current one. Thanks in advance.
  3. MOSmallies, not a real good pic - selfie.
  4. I fished the Glaize today with fair success. Caught several dinks and three keepers, including a 21 1/2" six pounder. Also caught a half dozen drum on the bass jig. Water was dirty but fishable just past the military recreation complex. That same area was producing crappie as well.
  5. What part of the lake were you fishing?
  6. Does anyone know if the lower and mid stretches of the Glaize are clearing up yet?
  7. Works both ways but I prefer to keep the lead head on the outside and add a touch of super glue and the tube will last for a limit of fish. I also like to tie the jig to the line with a loop knot. The loop knot, for me, results in more hook ups and usually the hook ends up in the top of the crappie's mouth.
  8. Are you guys using spinning gear when fishing the Ned that deep? FC line, or light braid & FC leader?
  9. I have been fishing the Ned Rig on LOZ from pre-spawn through early June and find it to be a very effective shallow water bait. I fish a standup jig and 5" stick bait a lot as well and catch about the same ratio of keepers to shorts, although I do catch a few more drum on the Ned Rig. I don't think you catch fewer big fish, just more shorts. I anticipate using the Ned Rig less as fish move deeper on points and around bluff ends. I would like to hear from those who fish LOZ through the summer months with the Ned. Is there an effective summer-time pattern with the Ned on LOZ?
  10. No longer looking for card - thanks Jeff.
  11. Jeff - sent you contact info. Thanks again.
  12. Thanks.
  13. Looking for an older (pre-2008) Navionics card (that includes Missouri and Arkansas lakes) for my Eagle FishElite 502c iGPS (same as Lowrance). It is a 1 Gig card (newer ones are 2 Gig). Also have the Canadian version for swap or sale. Thanks.
  14. Freelancer, I highly recommend. It is a site with access to good info. I also see plenty of evidence that Bob is a "good listener" and is working hard to make the site even better.
  15. I like my Tracker Pro Guide 175 Combo. Handles rough water well and plenty of room on front deck. The combo adds some versatility for family water sports.
  16. Temps up to 51 degrees today in the backs of coves on Grand Glaize. Crappie staging near banks - some already on the banks. A few more days of warmer weather, which is predicted, should get things in full swing.
  17. As Riverwhy said, the white bass population at MT provides a great alternative to the fine bass and crappie fishing.
  18. Terminator, 3/8 oz, white. They cost a little more, but it will earn its keep.
  19. I have a deep V Tracker Pro Guide with a 4-stroke 50hp Merc that handles slow trolling very well. Console/seating is roomy enough for moving around and it handles rough water pretty well. I am usually fishing for bass or crappie from the front of the boat and using the trolling motor, but in a pinch - trolling for whites, it works fine. Installed rod holder inserts on each side near the transom this winter.
  20. I have an '08 Tracker Pro Guide with a four stroke 50 hp Merc. I keep it on a covered lift on one of the LOZ smaller arms - Grand Glaize. Summer weekends I don't venture beyond the GG. With a Targa, I would feel comfortable under any reasonable LOZ conditions. I use it a lot, even during milder periods of the winter, and it has given me no problems. It is quiet, excellent on gas, roomy front deck for bass fishing. Boat control is more difficult in high winds. I am not a tournament fisherman and like to fish for other species. Highly recommend.
  21. After reading about the amount of dirt and debris that reels pick up in the back of the pickup or in the boat on the way to and from the ramp, I began looking into a cheap solution. Rather than making a cover from tarp material and velcro, I decided to make use of my old athletic socks that had seen better days. When slid from the bottom, even the reels on long handled baitcasting or spinning rods, are fully covered. The stretch in the sock and the elastic at the top keeps the cover snug yet easy to slide off and on.
  22. Zach, Thanks for the additional info. Much appreciated. Nick
  23. Thanks FB!
  24. FB, My place is fairly close to McCubbins ramp, but have not fished much for whites. Any additional insights you can share about fishing that particular area for whites (best times of year, effective lures, best times of day - I hear night fishing for whites can be fast and furious, etc. Thanks. Nick
  25. Will be heading to LOZ tomorrow to fish for several days, primarily up and down the Grand Glaize. Any reports on the bass? Thanks! Nick
