Thanks. I know where that is. But I'm pretty sure they are no longer doing business. I go by there every now and then and the place has looked pretty empty/dead the last few times I've seen it. I'll stop and see next time I'm in the area, though.

I know there are several shops in the area that advertise they do marine fiberglass repair work. But it would be nice to get some input from folks that have used some or any of them. Anyone?

Did some damage to my boat while summering in Wisc this year. Dock put a pretty good little gouge and scratch through the registration numbers area on a poor approach attempt. So looking for recommendations on GOOD marine fiberglass repair shops in the area of Rogers, Fayetteville, etc. Thanks

Sources Of Ethanol Free Gas
jeb replied to dave potts's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Some of the stations only offer one grade of fuel with no ethanol in it, usually Premium. So they could make both lists. The station in Prarire Creek, AR is like that, for example. -
Thanks for the heads up, Jeff. I was not reading this thread since I don't striper fish, at least on purpose. The problem I had with my 798 was after one of the updates last year. But it was shallow water related. If I got under 5' of water, the depth reading would bounce constantly from 0-10'. It would never hold a constant depth. You could work around it with splitfire settings, but the best bet was just to watch the depth on the 2d screen. But the next update fixed it. If you have the latest software installed in your unit, I don't think we had the same issues. Best of luck getting it running. HB is great to work with.

Water temps in the mid-lake area were 77-78 this morning. Seem to be rising fast with the hot weather. Water is just starting to clear a little. Can see down a little over a foot in some areas now. Doesn't sound like much, but it's an improvement!
-
Has not cleared much, if at all, for the last 4 weeks in the PC area, so not holding out much hope for this weekend. I hope it does, though! Sure be nice. The fish should be on the feed right now, if they could see the lures.

Really not bad for a holiday weekend. I think between the water being muddy and kind of cold for most folks to enjoy, the wake boaters were not out in force. Way fewer boats than we expected to see, for sure. The wind might have had something to do with it, too. It was really blowing out there. And the PC parking lot was far from being crowded. Probably not even half full when we left about 1:30.

Wife and I were fishing out of Prarire Creek for a while today. I mentioned it'd be interesting to see where the mud line is and she was all for a boat ride. So we motored down to the dam and back. Starts to clear up some just past Clifty arm. But really doesn't go clear until the Lost Bridge area. So still lots of dirty water out there. Kind of sucks. Water temps were from 68-70 through that whole stretch. Didn't do well fishing, but we're not fishing too seriously when the wife is in the boat.

Great story. Shared it with my wife, who was out fishing with me on Beaver today. She just shook her head. She's a bit jealous of the beginners luck, me thinks.

Varies from 76 to 100, depending on where you are on the lake.

Don't let Jeff fool you, he's been pulling up some pigs, too. Always fun to catch and release quality fish like those two!

Over 3 inches of rain here near PC last night. Muddy water isn't going to clear up anytime soon! Hope everyone is okay. 89 confirmed dead in Joplin at this point. Very sad.
-
Still very muddy in the mid-lake, PC to Ventris areas. Got 2 more inches of rain Friday in that area, which does not help the clearing issue.
-
Lost Bridge North is for sure open. The only problem is the very end of the dock walkway is about 3' short of the shore. So you might get your feet wet getting from the truck to the dock.
-
Was out yesterday, in the PC and Ventris areas. Water temps were anywhere from 56-62, which makes more sense to me. It was hard to beleive Beaver had gained 10 degrees of water temps in a few days. So just surface temp variations depending on the sun/weather. Water is still very stained/dirty. 1' visibility max. Caught some nice fish, all very shallow. Not sure if they're spawning or just getting ready to, though. The big one, 5.5lb, was for sure still full of eggs and came out of about 1' of water.
-
Temps were anywhere from 66-70 in the Lost Bridge/Indian Creek area today. Water is still pretty clear in most places.

I know there will always be folks that keep fish. But what I meant it was it's a shame those fish made it all the way to another spawing season and get taken out just short of putting more bass into the lake for all of us to enjoy.

Keep Politics Out Of Wildlife Management!
jeb replied to ozark trout fisher's topic in Conservation Issues
All I ever wanted to in this thread was understand the facts as best I could. Clearly it is a very emotional issue for many and they are unable to look at it in an unbiased way. I understand that since they don't want to see anything happen that could upset the apple cart, as it were. I don't have a dog in this fight since I don't live in MO and am not an NRA spokesperson or anything close to that. Like I've said before, the NRA has occasionally done things I don't agree with. That was my reason for drilling in really, to see if this was another issue we were at odds on so I could re-evaluate my NRA support going forward or if it was just fear mongering. I find no issue with what the NRA is doing here, personally. If this is already settled law as some here say, it should not worry anyone. If it's not, then it would've come up sooner or later anyway. I believe the ramifications of it being forced on the MDC are way overblown and based on emotion rather than fact, but that's not what I came here to discuss. I wanted to understand the issues behind each sides position, and I have a solid handle on it now. I do truly hope that whatever the outcome is, the MDC still provides you MO guys with the quality work they are apparently known for. -

Not at all. They feel they've been forced into this position by the MDC. Their agenda is merely to get handguns allowed during ML season. The fact that they feel the need to address the "myth", as they call it, to get there is just noise to them, the way I see it. Since you based most of the rest of your thread on that flawed assumption, I won't address most of it. Superior? How are you going to quantify that? If I say MN's DNR system is superior, what REAL data are you going to use to refute that? That may well be the outcome of all of this. Only time will tell. IMO, as I've already said, if MDC were smart and this law gets passed, they should just adopt it like it's their own idea and act like nothing happened. -

Nonsense for sure. Wow. Okay, then prove your statement. At this point in the discussion, this claim is based soley on emotion, IMO. I see zero facts or evidence to back up these claims. The system of a game management department working hand in hand with legislature seems to work very well in most other states. Why can't it work in Missouri? Well, the NRA seems to be saying they have science on their side of this, too. So, again, I guess one would have to look at the science and scientists behind each side in each case to try and get to the bottom of it all. -

I never said I believed it or not. The point is the NRA seems to believe it. I have no evidence one way or the other as to if it's true or not. -

If that were the case, why did they try for 3 years to get the MDC to adopt it on their own first? You'd think they'd have taken it to the legislature first if their aim was simply to challenge the "myth". Well, the NRA seems to think differently. Seems like something the MDC would like to have settled once and for all. According to the NRA link, the challenges to the law thus far have been in a different vein. Even if they go back and determine the intent to agree with the MDC, a supreme court still could find the original law unconstitutional, too. To me, it doesn't seem right to have a state organization like that with no path for legilstaive input/control. I don't think we'd like if the police, for example, were able to make their own laws, choose which to enforce and which not to, resist input from the legislature, etc. But at the same time, I respect that you guys are so happy with the job the MDC does for you. I think that's great, and I sure understand why you'd be resistant to any challenge to the status quo. I hope whatever the outcome is, that the MDC still delivers the same quality service and management they do now. -

I don't see the smoking gun here, sorry. If it is a myth, it needs debunking. If not, the courts will side with the MDC. Seems like something that needs to be figured out sooner or later.
