  1. FISHED THE LOWER SECTION YESTERDAY (ZONE 2) AND IT WASN'T CROWDED AT ALL. CAUGHT LOTS OF FISH, AND FROM 11:3:30 A HUGE HATCH WAS GOING ON CAUGHT THEM ON AN UNWEIGTED BROWN MIDGE FISHED IN THE FILM. THEY WOULD ALMOST FIGHT OVER IT, EVEN THE BIGGER FISH WERE EATING THE MIDGES ON TOP. AROUND 5:00 A SMALL CADDIS HATCH HATCH WAS STARTING CAUGHT A COUPLE BUT HAD TO LEAVE. WHEN WE DROVE PAST THE UPPER SECTION THERE WERE QUITE A FEW PEOPLE (4-5 PER HOLE)STILL FISHING. THE LOWER END MAYBE (2 PEOPLE PER HOLE) LOTS OF GOOD SIZE FISH, HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.
  2. I have been reading the forum about hickory for a while and have been wanting to give it a personal inspection. Friday afternoon I made my first trip to Hickory creek and it will not be my last. What a neat little creek and the bonus being it had plenty of action. Around 2:00 I started above the pedestrian bridge and worked my way up to the highway bridge. My first cast was in a little fast run. For some reason my fly wouldn't drift down the creek so when i raised my rod to investigate a small little fish jumped and came off. Three more casts resulted in the same thing. On my fifth cast I finally got one landed. Thinking they were creek chub I was surprised when a small rainbow was in my hand. Pretty neat so I decided to work my way on up the creek. The weather was a cloudy, misty fog but there was very little wind. I spooked a couple bigger trout because it was difficult to see them with the weather. I saw a nice fish behind a rock in a swift pool and made a cast to him and he jumped on it. After a nice fight on my 4wt rod i got him to the bank and took a picture. Continuing on up i managed to catch several more and missed several. I made a cast above an over hanging tree and let it drift under it when all of the sudden a nice rainbow took off with my fly jumped a couple of times and came off. Wow what an afternoon. It was getting darker so I walked back to where i caught the first good one and caught a couple more and snapped another picture (nervous trying to take photos over the water with the phone.) I ended my trip with that one and couldn't have had a better time. I never saw another fisherman that entire afternoon. I caught 18-20 rainbows, missed more than that. I can't wait till next time, the park was clean and only saw a couple of drink cups. What a nice place that isn't a very far drive. Tried to attach photos but didn't have any luck. Thanks for reading.
