  1. Hmmmmm... free dubbing and streamer hair!!!!
  2. Hey Leonard... Remember what Michael said about the horn and "pressure?" I bet when that horn went off the other night, there might have been a pressure leak in MrD... Hey... what am I laughin' for? First time I was close to one of those horns, I had a pressure leak that drowned out the dam horn!!!
  3. trout weight = (length x girth x girth) / 800 For example, you catch a 16 inch trout with an 11 inch girth. Using the formula for trout above: (16 x11 x 11) / 800 = 2.42 pounds. Your trout weighs approximately 2.42 pounds. Some variations of that forumla circulate, but it's close... Is that an inch tape or metric?
  4. Here's the weaving I learned. Click here. It's not the woven sowbug, but you can use this technique with the same results.
  5. Looks like a great place just to go even if you don't fish! Reminded me a bit of War Eagle Mill down below Eureka Springs, AR... But more fishy... I think I could talk Cindy into a trip down there with these picture! Thanks, MrD... Not boring at all... But I DID wonder if you were ever gonna show us the PHEESH you caught...
  6. DANG I need PowerPoint at home... I could get the presentation that would be of interest to some chambers together a lot sooner. Might even be able to present it... (Hard to get me to open up and say anything as you all well know...)
  7. They let me and you on here, didn't they? (TOLD you it was another "nut house" Patrick... )
  8. Arkansas Wildlife Federation wants to be a part of this as well. TU FFF Guide & Outfitters Association Lodging Association AWF Friends of Norfork Hatchery BASS Pretty impressive group so far if you can get them all together in the same room and put some heat on the area Chambers of Commerce and elected officials. Missouri has the "Stream Team" that maybe some of the "natives" can expound on a bit. But this is right up their alley, I would think. Is there something similar/associated in Arkansas?
  9. I hear they are really fond of trout, beavers, herons, and squid... But are REALLY fond of mink... DuckyD... Keep an eye on Leonard tonight that he doesn't become wolf poo in a few days...
  10. While we may think of this as a "public forum" remember... With a couple of mouse clicks and keystrokes, Phil can take it all away... Not sure how "public" that is... But as I have said before, Phil is very tolerant in my humble opinion. But as far as I'm concerned, it is still HIS call on here. But, alas, our Aussie friend is absolutely correct... "Best we get back to fishing and having fun..." Amen... (Sleeping dogs and dead horses...)
  11. Outfish and out cast me, Leonard. Not sure of his tying abilities, but I'm willing to bet he has the upper hand there also...
  12. Since I see my ugly mug in both of those images, let me know how much it costs to repair your camera, Phil. I KNOW it must have broken... Michael did a great job with the seminar. I, for one, did learn some things about Taney and fishing streamers that I did not know. And I'm sure there were several others who did. I look forward to the one you plan on giving on White Bass (right) or was it Stripers? (NOT strippers, Leonard... STRIPERS...) Either way, I'm in for that one as well! And for those who were not there... NO... I DIDN'T WIN THE ROD!!! Even though, Michael and I made some of you THINK I did at first... huh?
  13. Welcome to the OTHER nut house, Patrick...
  14. OK, Michael... I hope you bought extra snacks since Mr Ducky and I will BOTH be there.... And we're HUNGRY!!!! See you guys at 7ish.... if not before...
  15. You said it, Dano...
  16. I've heard if you save the lid, ConAgra will pay you for it... So, dig in your trash, Dano... could be worth $$$
  17. "... black gold.... Texas tea...."
  18. Click here to verify the story... From the Forbes website: FDA Warns of Salmonella-Contaminated Peanut Butter 02.15.07, 12:00 AM ET THURSDAY, Feb. 15 (HealthDay News) -- Consumers should not eat certain jars of Peter Pan peanut butter or Great Value peanut butter because they may be contaminated with Salmonella Tennessee, a bacterium that causes food-borne illness, U.S. officials said. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration warning is based on data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. According to the CDC, there have been 288 cases of food-borne illness in 39 states tied to eating Peter Pan peanut butter. Salmonella is carried by animals, but somehow was transferred during the manufacturing process to the peanuts. People can identify the affected jars of Peter Pan or Great Value peanut butter by looking for a product code -- located on the lid -- that starts with the number 2111. Both brands are made in a single plant in Georgia by the ConAgra company. Great Value peanut butter made by other manufacturers is not affected, according to the FDA. The FDA is recommending that all affected jars of Peter Pan or Great Value peanut butter purchased since May 2006 be discarded. The outbreak appears to have started in August 2006. As a result of testing and recent case control studies, the CDC was finally able to identify Peter Pan peanut butter as the likely cause of illness. ConAgra announced Thursday that it was recalling all varieties of Peter Pan Peanut Butter and Great Value Peanut Butter beginning with product code 2111. "Although none of our extensive product tests have indicated the presence of salmonella, we are taking this precautionary measure because consumer health and safety is our top priority," Chris Kircher, a ConAgra spokesman, said in a prepared statement. "We are working closely with the FDA to better understand its concerns, and we will take whatever additional measures are needed to ensure the safety, quality and wholesomeness of our products." As part of its investigation, the FDA has sent investigators to ConAgra's processing plant in Sylvester, Ga., to review records, collect product samples and conduct tests for Salmonella Tennessee. Symptoms of salmonella include fever, diarrhea and abdominal cramps. Salmonella can cause life-threatening infections in people in poor health or who have weakened immune systems. Any such illnesses should be reported to state or local health authorities, the FDA said. This outbreak follows major food-borne illness scares in 2006 involving spinach, tomatoes and iceberg lettuce. One expert said he's not surprised that these outbreaks are continuing to plague U.S. consumers. "This is not an unusual event," said Dr. Philip Tierno, the director of clinical microbiology and immunology at New York University Medical Center and author of the The Secret Life of Germs and Protect Yourself Against Bioterrorism. " Salmonella is a very prevalent organism," he said. According to Tierno, these contamination problems arise because the FDA does not regulate the safety of produce -- and he doubts that the food industry can monitor itself. "I think the government is moving toward making a change," he said. "Outside monitoring is the way to go." Tierno said food poisoning strikes an estimated 80 million people in the United States each year. "Nine (thousand) to 10,000 people die annually from food poisoning," he said. "That to me is absurd in America." In related news, it was announced Tuesday that ConAgra is also recalling more than 400,000 pounds of pasta and meatball meals that may have been underprocessed. The recall involves 36.6-ounce cartons of Banquet brand Homestyle Bakes Pasta & Meatballs in Marinara Sauce produced between Oct. 19, 2006 and Jan. 25. There have been no reports of illnesses linked to the product, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said.
  19. In a specific school or all over the country?
  20. RR, Get with Fred Wiseman (NEAFF) on fishing Crooked Creek and other smallie streams between Jonesboro and Harrison... He might even talk you into a trip to the upper Mississippi to take on some brownies up there... Fred knows CC pretty well. And he's a great fishing partner!
  21. THIS JUST IN from the Springfield News-Leader website: "Roaring River State Park opening day is scheduled March 1, the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce announced today. The chamber will present trophies to those getting the largest fish in the men’s, women’s and youth divisions. The fish must be weighed at the chamber’s weigh-in station at the historic lodge’s lower level. About 30 to 40 chamber volunteers will serve hot coffee along the river banks from 5 a.m. until the starting gun is fired." Hey, Mr Ducky... Just watch where Mrs. Ducky asks you to stand around starting time. If you see a guy with a gun, make sure he's pointing it in the air at starting time!!
  22. The key word in your last sentence, RR... "as long as the tourist and retirement dollare ARE rolling in." There is no forward thinking or long-term planning on the minds of the powers that be in general. Chuck Davidson WAS a very forward thinking man and it is hoped that someone will step up to the plate and take that same mentality into the game. Our society is so "now" based, we have lost site of any heritage or lineage. Selfishness and greed have taken over. Where do you think the term "me generation" comes from? And, yes, as I point my finger, I feel the three fingers pointing back at me... "God grand me patience... and I want it NOW!!!"
  23. Well said, Davy. I can honestly say that you and other guides and fly shop owners on both forums have done really well in squelching any "blatant promotions" that gave me the impression you were just looking for business. In many cases, you, Phil, Michael, Steve, John B, John W, and others have answered direct questions in such a way that seemed very selfless - not self-serving at all! Heck, I think I've even seen Phil recommend OTHER lodging facilities on here... I did happen to catch a couple of recent posts on another forum that were worthy of "Superbowl commercial" status and not posted by the owner or any moderator of said forum. Those posts are now in oblivion. Enough said by me... I should add... I'm ready for the whole subject to "die" a quick death. So this is MY last post on this thread. I hope it is the last one on this thread period...
  24. Now MD... Prison orange jumpsuits would NOT be very flattering on you... So you BETTER wait until March 1st....
  25. The advantage to the fish was they would be very calm and have the munchies!! SURE they were using it to attract fish... Seriously, I've not heard the hemp factor, but anise oil is one of the main ingredients in the original scent/attractants sprayed on bass plugs. I can't remember the "original" one that came out and Bill Dance (if memory serves me) endorsed the product. It had a very licorice smell to it and seemed to work in many cases. You forgot to add the corn, marshmallows, and powerbait to your recipe. When you start that "Davy and Tom's fly stew" be sure to cook the crawfish first and call me when the tails are done!! Hell... a pint or two of Guinness and I'll suck the heads!!
