  1. Most of them are in hunting sections Wal-Mart to BassPro to... well.. wherever they sell hunting clothes.
  2. Whuzzup wid dat? Looks like they're scheduled to start generating around 6pm tonight... about the time I pull into the parking lot. Looks like they're scheduled to run 50-40-30-50 until about 10pm... about the time I pull OUT of the parking lot... Sheesh... Did you guys tell them I was fishing tonight? Good news is the moon doesn't come out until midnight...
  3. Just wear it on top of your head... Seriously, I've used those hunting and fishing. When wading, I do wear it around my chest and inside my waders. Keeps it out of the water...
  4. Nice fish... I take it from what I see the fish and those eggs are no longer in Taney, right? (Sorry... C&R advocate here...)
  5. Murdoc, I'm certainly not anywhere near the night angler that Leonard is, but I will be there about 6:30 or so Friday. I have to head back to Nixa around 10:30 or 11 though.... Leonard, if you're down there then... give me the GPS coordinates on the biggun you have caged...
  6. Greg, I've used neoprene gloves duck hunting and crappie fishing (jigging off a dock) in very cold temps. They work very well. I'll add that if you can find some silk under gloves... yes they make them... that adds even more warmth. I would not handle a fish with neoprene gloves, but they will keep you warm and your casting shouldn't suffer much if any.
  7. Dang it..... Phil... can I change my guess?
  8. Don't even rely on the recording. Rely on your senses. Be aware of a landmark on the water. If you notice it going under water, get out... or at least adjust accordingly. I was creek fishing last spring and stepped down a ledge to retreive a fly hung on a root wad. As I came back to my spot, I forgot about the ledge. Luckily, I only got a cup or two of water in my waders and it was in very slow current, but with bad knees and a spare tire, it wasn't easy getting up. I need to start using a wading staff... Also, what about spiked wading boots?
  9. One in the toe of each boot will help keep your "tootsies" toasty, too...
  10. Phil, If you get Fox started, you better increase your bandwidth and server storage capacity... and yes... VERY full of information on the subject. RR, That's what I'm talking about... getting ALL those type of organizations under one umbrella. Don't take anything away from them, just make them ALL more powerful. TU FFF BASS QU RMEF DU NWTF PF And any other organization condusive to fishing, hunting, hiking, bird watching, tree hugging, etc, etc...
  11. If I didn't have to get up and go to work tormorrow, Leonard, I'd be there for sure. Should be a good night, you bet... Good luck! and be SAFE! stupid work...
  12. What I mean is I was there a couple of times a couple of years ago and did not have a MO permit. Both times were just a "Sunday drive" with my (now) wife. I have a MO permit and TS now, of course... But Dano... go ahead and put that $5 in the mail to me... "I'll GLADLY pay you back (the 2nd) Tuesday (of next week.) (Who remembers THAT line?)
  13. I agree. Fleece is nice if you are going to stay dry. But if you are going to get your hands wet... and how are you gonna keep from it fishing... wool is the way to go. Although handling fish with fleece is probably better for the fish.
  14. Yeah, I've seen some hats like that. Some of 'em I swear pick up NASA satellite transmissions...
  15. Given the density of the sample, we take the square of the binomial population and maintaining X to the y, extrapulate the binary equivalent of Z. That along with the square root of the ratio of brown trout to suckers times the average number of fishermen over 30 on Taneycomo in one month... Then from that, derive the standard deviation times pi to the tenth power over the logarithm of the number of thread turns on the average size 18 scud minus the number of scales on a 15 inch Rainbow such that a=b+c.... naught times naught is naught... 3 guzinda 15 five times... carry the one.......... 10:46 am April, 20th, 2007 (Dang... I've been watchin' way too much "NUMB3RS" and "Beverly Hillbilies"... )
  16. Welcome to the forum... The Eleven Point is on my list for sure. I've been there a couple of times, but without a MO fishing license...
  17. I agree with everything you said except a couple of points... 1... it's not the chicken farmers... It's the big famous chicken "processor" that has the politicians in his pocket. Most chicken farmers I know are not driving Escalades and living in plantation style homes (like the cotton/rice/bean factory farms you are referring to.) and 2... you say "our chances of getting our voice heard is slim"... All we really need to do ("all" being easier said than done) is combine the "forces" of TU, FFF, and numerous other organizations into ONE voice that will be heard with a lot of support. The "chicken - trucking - big retailer" connection in NW AR is a few voices with big dollars. The cattle industry is a LOT of voices ($s) all rolled up into ONE PAC (recall the commercials with the famous cowboy voice telling us "Beef... it's what's for dinner..." The problem here, in my humble opinion, is that we have several different organizations with one end goal in mind but going in 100 different directions. FFF is looking at it from one stand point. TU another. So on and so on. Maybe if we put TU, DU, PF, FFF, NWTF, etc. etc. under one umbrella called "The Wildlife and Wilderness Council" and funnel our efforts, maybe then we could do better... JMHO for what it's worth... and that ain't much.
  18. ... And Dano's "home away from home..."
  19. Sounds like a recipe to me...
  20. Just add chocolate and graham crackers... TROUT S'MORES!
  21. Larry, Welcome to the forum. Same Larry M as the one at the Youth Conclave on Dry Run Creek this past Saturday? Since you were on Taney Saturday, guess not... Unless you can be a two places at once... If not the same, you'll understand why you are confused about the post on Muskie on Pomme...
  22. Larry, I ran into Roger Maler at Sowbug this year as he was talking to someone from the area about fly fishing for Muskie on Pomme... You might ask Roger if he remembers who that was... I'd like to feel one of those big boys on the end of my 8 wt...
  23. Seriously, only funny because you are OK... We lost one of our NEAFF club memebers on the Little Red about three years ago like that... As for the big Browns, I hope to get in on that action soon...
  24. The "popularity" contests we call "elections" have made it almost impossible to get anything really "done" unless you have a vast amount of money to contribute to a campaign. The lobbyists control what's going on... and the lobbyist with the most money wins every time. You know, it's strange in a way... Construction jobs are going to the "green card" workers, the family farm is almost extinct, and our rivers and streams are on the demise... What's wrong with this picture? I still believe in the political process... We just need to be more informed and not entertained voters.
  25. Yeah, Phil, I'm surprised too. These polls are kewl and you learn a lot about they people on the forum. A year ago, I would probably claim the Spring River in Arkansas as my home waters, but with living in Nixa, Taney is/will be "home" for me...
