  1. Hey Rusty... It's a badge of honor and a right of passage to be banned from that particular forum of which you speak... Good set of rules... "Please do not harass or intentionally annoy the moderators." Does that mean I get banned for three days every time I post? Hey... It's FUN to harass and annoy Dano and Phil...
  2. For all of you who ever braved the cold to find those ring tailed bandits... Click here to read the story...
  3. Yep... my writer's block is over and I've added a new one to the mix. Click here to read the latest one... Hope you enjoy...
  4. I'm going to save mine for a rainy day... So it won't last long...
  5. Ah yeah... reminds me of my single days...
  6. Belated birthday greetings... (just a young pup...)
  7. Local characters? Around here? (Shuddup, Dano... Don... Leonard... Ronnie... Duane... Michael... Web... and the rest of ya'll... ) Uh.. Current River, huh? You ever see that movie "Deliverence?" Honestly, while you are planning on coming to a really great area, you are very much limiting what there is to offer in the Ozarks for sure. Roughly from I-40 in Ft Smith, AR to Little Rock, AR then US-67 from LR to Farmington, MO west to I-44 all the way to Joplin, then US-71 to Ft Smith you can virtually throw a dart inside those boundaries and land on a great area for fishing, camping, hunting, hiking, with all kinds of local flavor. And you said "White Plains"... You mean West Plains? If so, you gotta do a day at the Spring River in Mammoth Spring, AR... Just half hour from West Plains. My step-daughter works at the River Bend Restaurant there, but Fred's Fish House is more famous. You might consider the North Fork of the White River over towards Gainsville, MO as well. There are several locals on this forum from that part of the state that I'm sure will chime in here.... I know you'll enjoy your trip, but I hope F&S will see that there could be several articles in several issues on these here hills... Ever consider an article about a fly fishing event like the Conclave in Mountain Home, AR or Sowbug Roundup (also in MH.)?
  8. We got out early (6:30 pm) last night. Now it's FINALS time!!!
  9. Being spring, warm, shorts and tee-shirt weather, I didn't notice you the other night... I'm in 106 from 5:30 - 7:20... What classes are you taking?
  10. Geez... you won't show ME any of those honey holes on Crooked Creek... Welcome to the forum... and to the Ozarks.... God's country.... I'll be your bestest friend when you get here... Can I park in your yard and walk to the creek?
  11. Class is going good... one more tonight and the final Tuesday. Yeah, it was probably me. Class is 5:30-7:20, but I finished my project around 7ish... I'm working on a gun vise now. In fact, I need to get off my dead... uh... rear and get to work on it...
  12. OK Web... and anyone else interested... Here is the station with the tools and stuff in place. I took this to BCO Saturday for fly tying and it is just right for travelling...
  13. Yankee.... I've not heard of the cheese nip meal... But sounds like a good change. OK... next try the same thing only with corn flakes. Then instant potatoes. Then potato chips.
  14. Welcome to the forum...
  15. Dang... I THOUGHT I smelled fish frying yesterday...
  16. Welcome to the forum... I take it you are a nurse? So is my wife. Now if I can just get her to start fishing with me...
  17. Pat, I've had that for several years. I was at a flea market close to Hardy, AR a few years back and a fellow had this mixed in with some other items. I looked it over and made a deal on the whole lot. I've not done anything with it until now. I've seen some on eBay for sale from a guy over in Doniphan, MO and there are several places over in that area where you can get it. Shipping is the bad deal for a small lot like that. But you might take a look.
  18. OK... I won't go into my "network security and accessibility" shpeel.... Phil, you need a professional cameraman to go on these trips with you. I work pretty cheap...
  19. Have you read any of his books? He's a pretty good author, too!
  20. Yep... I think you'll be very happy with that setup for sure. Good luck with your fishing. Now... the next step... fly tying....
  21. Happy Birthday you ol' parrot head... and you too, Amish Bill... "Wasted away again in Margaritaville... Lookin' for my lost shaker of salt..."
  22. Web, I have a very nice pedestal base for my vice that I'll use. I started to make this one a clamp type like Dano described, but backed out based on my base and the use of cedar which is soft enough that I felt like it might not hold up. This one is about a third the size of my other station. I'm going to use this one for "travel" like going to the farm for the weekend or tying class at BCO. Plus it gave me something to do for the past few days.
  23. Thanks guys... Yep, Cedar. Web... I thought I DID attach the pics... Stupid firewall... Click here for image 1 Click here for image 2
  24. I just put the final coat of finish on my latest woodworking project. Thought I'd share the results...
  25. Nice pattern, Fox. What about tying on a curved hook/scud hook? Any comments? By the way... Thanks for the color tips for fishing the Spring River during Sowbug. You were (as usual) right on...
