  1. Tyler... nice place. Welcome to the forum.
  2. Indy to West Plains? Can you say "CULTURE SHOCK!!?" For sure you will be around some fine trout fishing. Be sure to check in with Brian Wise who is not far from WP and there are a few others on here in the area. You'll want to take at least one trip down the road about half hour to Mammoth Spring, AR and check out the Spring River. My wife use to be a nurse at the hospital in WP. I got my tatoo in WP. Porter Wagoner is from WP... What more can you ask for in a town? (BTW... Don't ask anyone in WP what they think of Porter Wagoner... )
  3. MrsD... With all the stuff that is found in the runoff from around Bull Shoals Lake and along the tailwaters, one sewer pipe and a garbage disposal won't add that much... (only half kiddin'... you DO have a point...) Now, with Ronnie, John, and me on the water "releasing toxic fumes" you might want to watch for a BIG fish kill...
  4. Thom, First off, we must determine if the fish was female before we can blame Clinton... Next, we left one out... terrorists... Maybe the folks at TRD put something in the water to take out the "imperialistic great brown trout satans" and then moved down to BSD... Then again... Has MrDucky been down there eating chili dogs?
  5. Leonard and DuckyDoty use this new fly dressing called "Berkley's Power Bait..." JUST KIDDING!!!!!!
  6. Thom, that's the reason I recommended the wading staff. My big issue on my first trip was making it up and down the hill/steps to get to the water. Of course, getting in and slipping on and stumbling over snot slick rocks was an issue as well... If nothing else, the staff gives you quite a bit of confidence.
  7. It's still going good, but I still tire from wading a long time. I carry a wading staff and need it to get back to shore after a few hours of standing... well.. need it to get back up the hill, too... 6-8 weeks after surgery? I'd plan on taking a wading staff. Honestly, if you have FULL knee replacement, I would not count on feeling like standing in the water at that point. But I hope you do...
  8. Nice Brownie!! Dontcha just hate it when them young whupper-snappers outfish ya... Hey... where are the pics of the gogs?
  9. Dang work... Business picked up... Now we're back to 5 day work weeks... No fishin' on Fridays for me anymore...
  10. Hmmmm... then again... knowing some of my wife's kinfolks down that way... Did anyone check the fish for gunshot wounds? And if I want my wife to know I said that... I'll tell her myself!!!... Then again... she'd just agree...
  11. I think he died of a combination of high gas prices and the war in Iraq... OH... and the lack of medical care for economically challenged trout...
  12. Godspeed to you, Ron... Here's to a complete and speedy recovery without much misery... We'll keep you posted and in our prayers...
  13. Can you say "moron?" While this is a sad story and might bring more attention for the need to make some improvements to the tail water systems, the fact remains that fish do die of natural causes. I'll be anxious to see if this is the case here or if they can "prove" that high water temps or low O2 had an effect.
  14. Too much gun... Like there is such a thing... Hey... Nice pattern, Troutchaser!!! Can I try it? BLAM-BLAM-BLAM! Sah-weeet! Go ahead, PowerBait fisherman... Make my day!!!
  15. Hey, BooBoo... Did you see any pick-a-nick baskets? Sounds like quite an experience... One I hope to enjoy someday myself...
  16. Sage advice there, Thom. I like that...
  17. WM, All I'm saying here is that a fence as you suggested would last about 10 minutes after they start running 3 units. Once the water dropped again, there would be no fence and the "access" these people used would be there again. There are armed guards in towers around nuclear reactor plants...
  18. Heh, heh, heh.... I told "Alfred" to make you think you had hung the new world record... Did you keep him? Nixa needs more suckers for the Sucker Days festival... fish and people... Hey... there have been days I would settle for a 3 inch creek chub!!!
  19. Fence + 3 units = fence floating by Branson Landing...
  20. Congrats, MTB. That's pretty KEWL for sure! Don't be surprised if someone caught you spill on video and it's already on youtube.com....
  21. Do we need more security? Sure. But are we willing to pay for it? I'm not just talking taxes, but have you flown lately? Yes, I want to feel secure on an airplane, but if I have to go through things like that to go fishing, launch a boat, take a class, shop at the mall, etc... Want a big impact? How secure is Silver Dollar City? Your workplace? The mall? Your school? Major trafficways? Sports arenas? My point is that we are starting to "live in fear" because of the media attention. To me that's falling into the hands of those who do these things. That's what they want. I can't see myself doing that. You are correct that the plan would be to blow up 50 dams and not just one. The problem is that providing security enough to have any chance to prevent such action would result in a shutting down of many of the things we take for granted, if it was even possible.
  22. TRD might be an "easier target" but my point is what value would it have to terrorists? Because it is in our "back yard" we worry about it. There are just too many "easy targets" out there that would have more of an impact. You noticed on 9/11 they chose the WTC and not Macy's... Bang for the buck... I'm not going to debate further, but I will be below TRD this Friday barring any unforseen "honey-dos" and I won't be concentrating on looking for bin-Laden's followers parking at the top of the dam.
  23. Whew... yeah, that makes me feel better. Now if Leonard scratched last night I'll be estatic!!!....
  24. Well, this is turning into a Blue vs. Red debate about oil prices... One last comment and I'm done... Kick 'em all out and bring Ross Perot back. He wasn't so stupid afterall, huh?
