Looks nuthin' like it... You should just throw them away... they won't work... Would I lie? Nice tie, Web... Similar to Leonard's, but not quite... I'll let him explain.

Plans are (as of this moment anyway) that I will be coming down Friday after work. Cindy is coming down Saturday to spend some time with her mom... We'll be staying at Viola at the farm. I'll drop by and make sure Phil is doing a good job cooking the fish... Do you need another fish cooker, Phil? The propane burner kind... not the human one... Although I'll help if needed. Might even make up some "shut up dogs" for the event. Who all is going to be there? John, Phil, and I can eat a lot... but we may need help cleaning up...

Hey Brian... He's trying to get away from the mosquitos!!! I said I would do about ANYthing to get away from the billow of mosquitos rising up over the Jonesboro landscape... Alfred Hitchcock could have made a good movie over there... Instead of "Birds" it would be "Mosquitos!!" Good luck in your search, RR... I'll keep my eyes peeled... And.. THERE AIN'T NO MOSQUITOS OVER HERE!!! (Dang... I'm itchin' just thinkin' 'bout sittin' outside my Jonesboogie house between St Patty's Day and Thanksgiving... sheesh!)

Welcome "over here" KAT... Always good to have another good fisherman to share info... You going to the 'Bug this weekend?
-
Hangover? Take three bloody marys and call Ducky in the morning...
-
Hey Phil... If you cancel the Sowbug fish fry, keep on fishing and we can have a fish fry at the pavillion in the next few weeks. I'll volunteer my fish cooker and cooking skills... fries and pups... Better send me a package of fillets so I can have a practice run at my house next week...
-
Welcome to the forum, Heather... and to the great world of fishing! Now all we have to do is get a fly rod in your hands and you'll be all set! As far as Mrs Ducky having a hard time keeping us all in line... Well.. "ya'll ain't never gonna get me to straighten up. Too much hillbilly in this here boy!" Then again, Mrs Ducky has her hands full with just MR Ducky...

Ducky... it's FREE BEER.... We can't be too picky... Well... I can when it comes to Miller... I was thinking Colt 45 and 8-Ball (Old English 800)... OK... Maybe I was thinking Rolling Rock and Sam Adams... Nope.... Bud and Coors will be fine...

Welcome to the forum... Good to have you... C'mon down and fish. Bring the kids and teach them about H2O...

I thought that's why they call it Elevenmile Canyon... you have to walk 11 miles to get down into the canyon to fish... Good luck on your trip. I know you'll enjoy... and I know we will all enjoy all the pictures you take and post on here of the scenery and pheesh you snag...

I use to do that with just me in a 14 footer, no motor, trolling motor on front... hand steer. So I was at the front a lot... and the back would come out of the water... I'll have to remember to use that excuse... Sounds like a pretty good day...

Conclave is October 4-6 if I'm not mistaken. The Youth Conclave would be that Saturday the 6th. The age limit is simply the fact that Dry Run Creek is limited to those UNDER 16. I've seen them as young as 7 or 8 up to 15. In fact, I helped net a 27 inch Brown for a 15 year old girl in '05. It was her first trout fishing trip... The only thing asked is that you do not just drop off your kids and expect the volunteers to "baby sit" while you go off somewhere. Some do that, but it can be a pain if there are not enough volunteers to help... especially with the younger ones... the teens are OK... Click here and click on the Youth Conclave photo links to see pictures of the '06 Youth Conclave.

Only two cases of beer? What are the rest of ya'll gonna drink? That's KEWL! Can he also donate some fine cigars? Cohibas would be nice... OK... OK... OK... I know... I'm gettin' greedy... So I won't mention the single malt... or the Crown Royal... A brewsky or two around lunch would be nice, but I understand John's hesitance... I mean you wouldn't want a bunch of beer guzzlin' fly fishermen on the road after a day on the river... Well... you wouldn't want to be the one who gave them all the beer anyway... There will probably be some of those one way or the other... I'd promise to limit myself to two... well... three... maybe four if I'm there long enough... but no more than four... unless I spend the night... sleepin' on the table in the pavillion... I promise! Unless he brings any sort of Miller product... I'd rather drink the water in Taneycomo... (Isn't it a form of blasphemy to drink Miller if you live in Missouri?) HEY... speaking of.... I was at a Cards game a couple of years ago and got talked out of ordering a MGD from the vendors. I just wanted to see the reaction of the folks around me... Hey... I've got good health insurance...

Mrs Ducky, Flysmallie and anyone else with youngsters who want to learn to fly fish... First, CONGRATS on your fish with your own fly and rig, Mrs Ducky. Ain't NUTHIN' like catching a fish on a fly you tied yourself.... I agree that you can start working with kids at a young age. Flysmallie, even though you think you can't teach them anything, you might be surprised. They have no preconceived notions about casting a plug yet, so those "bad habits" that sneak into our fly casting (those of us who were/are old dogs learning new tricks) don't affect them like it does us. Case in point... I went to the BassPro fly casting class last Saturday in an attempt to re-learn some things I had forgotten in my hiatus from fishing this winter. (By the way... it DID help a lot... NEVER think you can't get SOMEthing from ANY casting class...) Anyway, there were 10 or 12 of us "old farts" and one youngster - a girl about 9 or so. By the end of the class, there were a bunch of old farts flailing away, cracking leaders, and still struggling to get the basic fly cast down. And... there was a 9 year old girl DOUBLE HAULING!!!! I was so impressed! I was working on MY haul and looked over at this kid forming really pretty loops and doing a really fine job with the haul! Anyway... Down to what I really want to say.... I know it's 6 months away... but.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE plan on bringing your kids to the SOCFFF Conclave in Mountain Home, AR this October. And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get them registered for the Youth Conclave on that Saturday. Al Crise is a GREAT casting instructor...well... FLY FISHING instructor in general... ESPECIALLY with kids. He will teach them some entomology then some fly tying then some casting... Then... we take them and the flies they tied to Dry Run Creek for the afternoon. WHAT A BLAST! You will have as much fun as the kids do if you volunteer to help. It is something to witness a kid who is catching big trout the first time they cast a fly into the waters... and it's a fly they TIED THEMSELVES! Even if by this October the kids have got some fly fishing under their belts, it will pay to have them go through Ol' Al's class. Again... Any of you who would volunteer to help out... YOU will have a blast... GUARANTEED!!!

For any of you interested, there will be an informal breakfast "get together" at the Coffee Cup Cafe on Saturday morning around 7-7:30 am. The Coffee Cup is located in the strip mall by Harp's Supermarket on 62B. It's the one in the corner down by the Harp's store. Come by and say "hey" and/or have a cup of coffee and/or some breakfast before you head to the 'Bug...

Good rule! Sounds like a good fishing trip anyway... (Disclaimer: With a diabetic 11 year old at home, cell phone is REQUIRED! But not liked...)

Are you takin' 'bout me again? Welcome to the forum, ghoti... And yes... you'll find a lot of useful AND useless information here...

Colorado Springs... Let's see... you'll be within "spittin' distance" of the Arkansas and South Platte Rivers... Yep... I bet you can find a lake, creek, or river or two to fish while you're in the area... A friend of mine fished the Arkansas somewhere near Pueblo a few years back and really had a blast!
