  1. I got an email about some pictures taken of a Mountain Lion on the deck of a home in South Dakota. I don't doubt the images are true... Nonetheless, they are interesting... Could have been a couple of wolves on Don's back deck... Click here for Snopes take on the Mountain Lion pictures.
  2. In the immortal words of Rodney King: "Can't... c-c-c-can't we ... (sniff, sniff)... Can't w-w-w-we j-j-just (sniff) get along?"
  3. I wonder if mono would show up in your photos? Maybe you could "experiment" a bit, Phil...
  4. I have to agree with David... That's almost like asking which pickup is better... Ford or Chevy. Of course we all KNOW that Dodge is far superior... The best advice I've ever gotten on such aspects was to choose the one that fits YOU... NOT the one that everyone else likes or has. Go cast each one. If you have a good shop, you might even get them to let you take one fishing to see what it feels like on the water... and it will feel different on the river than in the parking lot... trust me...
  5. Hey Rich... You forgot something... he feeds us, too! Is it true we're having Ribeyes and T-bones grilled to order this time, Michael? Of course, the REAL STAR of the seminars is his chocolate lab... Nobody really pays attention to Michael. They're busy watchin' the dog...
  6. WHEW!!!! Any damage, Phil? Or just a nuisance to clean up?
  7. Thanks, Fox... Good to see you active on this forum...
  8. Happy Birthday! Enjoy it fishing!
  9. Fox, Good information and like Phil, I think this adds a lot to his and John's article. One question for you and Phil and John. We talk about a "shad kill" and you, Fox, have focused on the shad dying before they come through. But don't some of them survive the trip? Any idea what causes them to get sucked through in the first place? Is it the 41 deg puts them in "suspended animation" as opposed to actually killing them? Good info on their "range"...
  10. Worth 17,000 words... Nice pheesh, Phil...
  11. That should LOWER the price, Leonard... since I can't catch anything with them...
  12. Welcome, Ric... from another converted bass fisherman. Since taking up fly fishing, my bass rigs are gathering dust in the garage. But, hey... I still plan to dust them off and give them a workout... someday...
  13. I'm afraid there are many who will be saying "Who the hell is Tonya Harding?" Let's see... Brittney Spears, Anna Nicole Smith, and a few others... Yes... what IS this world coming to?
  14. All the best guys have birthdays this week... Happy Birthday guys!! Hope you enjoy your more than I did mine... (Coming down with some kind of crud... )
  15. Yeah, when Mr Ducky is out there fishing at night and the GTMES uses him for a midnight snack, you'll see it's no joke...
  16. Good ones... I can REALLY relate to #8...
  17. Happy Birthday, DDoty!! Have a good one on Taney tonight... Unless it's too WARM for you to fish...
  18. Welcome to the forum, BC... You'll find the White River system tailwaters as a whole offer some great trout fishing. Being in Fayetteville, you are not far from the Beaver tailwaters and I'll let our good friend from "down under" give you more details on that stretch. A bit farther and you can be on Lake Taneycomo and there are a bunch of nutz... I mean great guys... on here who can offer a lot of advice on fishing it. Hopefully we'll see you on that stetch soon! And you're right... once you catch a fish on a fly rod, there ain't no turnin' back... at least not for me. Do you tie? If so or even if not... Check out the Sowbug Roundup in Mt Home, AR March 15-17. There will be several of us down there at one point or another...
  19. Dano, Well, just how are ol' Mo, Larry, Curly, Shemp, Joe, Billy Bob, John Boy, Jim bob, Mary Ellen, Sue Ellen, JR, John, Paul, George, Ringo, Elvis, Rhett, Scarlett, and the rest of the gang doin'? You didn't KNOW I had all those chubs named, did you? Hey, OF... I may be down this Saturday afternoon if all goes according to plan. I hope to make a trip to Dam 3 for a couple of hours anyway while Cindy visits the future grandbaby...
  20. BT22, I'll be working on an article for the Arkansas Wildlife Federation newsletter on that very subject. If you get some "good" pictures of the "bad" stuff, let me know if I can possibly use them in the article... Of course, you will get credit for the photos if I use them.
  21. My honey banned any fly fishing equipment for our wedding and honeymoon in Jamaica... But she makes up for it in more ways than I can remember. She did say next time I could fly fish when we're there... Fly fishing or bait? For what species?
  22. I'll be there. Going to Sowbug Saturday. Maybe this time I won't freeze my butt off when I step outside for a quick smoke.... SHEEESH that north wind was cold...
  23. Thanks guys... I think... Leonard, What do you think this warm spell is attributed to? It's actually 15 deg F outside a 100 mile radius of Nixa... Al Gore just sent me a warning that if I get any older, he will personally attack me for adding to the global warming trend with my BD candles... Steve, I won't be "older than dirt" until NEXT year...
  24. Do any of you "natives" to the area remember a "Driftwood" resort on Taney? I remember as a kid coming up for a long weekend with my parents. I must have been 4 or 5 at the time and I remembered it to be on TRL. But in a phone call to my mom, she asked me if I remembered trout fishing up here... Come to find out, we stayed on Taneycomo and I did some trout fishing. She specifically remembers using cheese and maybe marshmallows to fish with, so it must have been on Taney... Now I can say I've been fishing Taney since I was 4 or 5... Can any of you remember this Driftwood Resort and where it was... Especially in relation to Phil's place?
