Anyone have a map of the Meramec River or have a link to a good one?

Are there any rivers nearish Rolla that hold bigger fish?

What size fish do the good habitats hold? What size can we expect to catch?

Where did you put in and where did you float?

We fished the Little Piney from sunrise to 1pm upstream from Vida Slab and then upstream from the Hwy 63 bridge. We caught about 15 fish all less than 10". Most were dinks. We tried pheasant tails, hare's ears, glow bugs in various colors. There were some real good looking run that that I was surprised held no fish or at least none that were taking our offerings. This is our first trip to little piney. There's a lot of walking between ripples. I was exhausted at the end of the day. My day ended when I filled my waders by stepping to close to fast water trying to save a fly caught on a branch.

Which tools do I need to get started?

I'm also new to fly tying, so if I may, I'd like to add a question or two. What equipment or parts are needed to get started? Is there a good kit to start with? I'd like to tie Sneaky Petes, Blockhead poppers, and Don's Crawdads this winter.

Chad and I saw this huge black "fish" swimming around in Phillips Lake in Columbia, MO. We have no idea to this day what it was. Never seen anything like it. We call it the Phillips Lochness Monster. I have a video.

I've heard that there are no naturally occurring lakes in MO. All of the MO lakes are created by damning up a river. No idea if that's true or not.

We're fishing the Little Piney Creek this Saturday. This is our first trip to Little Piney Creek. The water seems to be falling fast. Any last minute suggestions on having a successful trip?

I caught a bunch of fish using the mediums on the Eleven Point.

I saw what I thought was a bald eagle flying around when I did a float with Brian in Sept.

I have no idea, but I hope it's better in Nov.!
