  1. You really need to look at the coleman "scanoe", this is a square back 18' flat bottom style, this is a very stable platform, made of very tuff ram x material, very light for loading and unloading out of the back of a truck or off of the trailer, this material is much more quiet and not as hot in the summertime ,and this canoe has a very shallow draft, the ram x material is very slick for gliding over shallow riffles to where you will not be getting in and out of the canoe.Still big enough for an extra cooler and the Mrs..Everybody I take out every year is impressed with this boat. And above all it's modeterly priced, hope this can be of some help on some of the things you need to look at before purchasing. Good luck.
  2. I use lighting strike indicators; various sizes depending on what size jig I'm difting and casting distance, another thing in drifting the jig is the rod length, preferably one over 6'6",this minimizes line drag and increases you getting hooked up on the fish at greater distances from the boat. I use a 10' pflueger micro light rod and pflueger supreme reel 4# test, this rod is very light and has tremendous hooking power at longer distances.
  3. Kudos,to Mr.Phelps and family for there efforts on shoal creek. Some of earliest fishing experiences were floating from Grand Falls to Shemerhorn Park.

  7. Do not take me wrong I love to fly fish, its a great way to fish but,in freezing whether an high water, I'll always have jig tied on to one of my rods
  8. I read alot of topics on this forum about different lures, baits,to use to catch trout. But none stands out better than the marbou jig for a shot at catcthing a trophy trout (both wild and stocked).I've been using jigs sense the mid-70's and I can personally atest to that, so can the late Rip Collins.Since the advent of newer materials in threards, glues, krystal flash, and so on,I could go on and on this simple but effective little bait.Phil provides some great insights, but I stumbled another article on (Ozark trout tales)a guy named Steve Wright interviewed Jerry Dudley, this article puts the jig into prospective, on both technique, and effectivness.
