  2. I was wondering if anyone has fished this stretch and if it's floatable in a kayak. Thanks, Chris
  3. I’ve still got 5 weight line so I’ll give that a shot. Appreciate the advice. Chris
  4. I’ve never really fished anything other than a 5 weight, but my TFO was lost/ stolen during a recent move and I need a replacement. I see a closeout Sage Approach 490-4 on Amazon for $225. Seems like a good deal, but I was wondering how much different a 4 weight is going to be from the 5 weight. I mostly fish the trout parks/ rivers near them or the tail water at Taneycomo. I know I need a bigger rod for throwing streamers at night, but just looking for something to get me back onto the water. Is the 4 weight too light for the local streams and rivers? Thanks, Chris
  5. The San Juan river is only about an hour south of Durango (in New Mexico) if you're still thinking about heading to that area. I've never been but am going the first week of June to fish it while on the family vacation in the area. I've heard its very good.
  6. I have a double-barrel over/under Winchester Model 101 Field Model 12 gauge with 28 inch barrels I would like to sell. Bought new from Bass Pro around 3 years ago for $1,200 and some change. I shot a box of shells through it the weekend I bought it, and it has been sitting in the closet ever since. Asking $800.
  7. Hey I was just wondering if anyone knew of a place around the Springfield area where I could rent a space to store a boat. I don't have a garage and do not want to leave it outside. It's a Tahoe Q3 and is about 20ft long. Any information is greatly appreciated.
  8. Well that looks promising! I hope someone can confirm this and if its off it stays that way through the weekend.
  9. Thanks man, you just sold me. I can't afford SIMMS, I hope these are a reasonable alternative.
  10. Just wondering who was heading down for the last weekend of C&R?
  11. I'm pretty sure you can only use single hooks also. Like a rooster tail with a treble attached probably wouldn't be ok.
  12. A lot of the trails and back country sections are closed off early in the year because of bear activity. If you go in May/June your chances of running into one are much greater than if you take the trip in July/August. There are some sections that don't allow fishing until after July so make sure you check into it before you go. Yellowsotne is incredible though and you will have a great time no matter when you are there.
  13. How am I supposed to move all of my smut now!? But seriously, If I had a problem with what Brian was doing, I sure as heck wouldn't keep bumping this thread to the top by talking about it. Thats just helping him advertise.
  14. Hey Dave! It is amazing how many people from the forum you can meet without even knowing it. Yeah I lost my last brown pine squirrell in that tree across the river. I switched to black after that and didn't do any good. Have you fished the lower part much? It looks like really good water down there but that was my first time going past the first field.
  15. Good question, I'm kind of in the same boat. I have a pair of Hodgemans with a boot attached to it and I kind of hate them. I have had them for just over a year and they leak in the seams. Not fun in the winter man. Also, get a felt sole if you are planning on fishing Ozark streams. I have just a regular rubber sole and its a struggle (that I do not always win) not to bust my butt anytime I get in fast water with a rocky bottom. Mine are neoprene also, which while warm, are a pain to get into. Maybe with a sock foot it would be easier. I'm trying to save up for a pair of Gore-Tex Simms, but I think a good pair starts at around $300. Hopefully they will be worth the investment.
  16. Ah Hey man! I saw the blue Prius in the lot but didn't know who was driving it. Also saw a car in the lot with a K-State front plate. Was that anyone on here? I heard that brown or tan scuds were working well in the river last weekend and that an orange soft hackle was working best in the park. We fished that one hole above you guys for about an hour and then went downstream of the boat ramp to the gravel bar across the river. I fished an egg pattern and a soft hackle and had no luck on either one. Then switched to streamers with brown seeming to work best. I'm not sure what the crawdad pattern was called but he bought it from Readings Fly Shop on HWY 64 just a few miles East of the Park. The guy in there should be able to hook you up with one. My friend said he was catching them last weekend on the same pattern.
  17. Went yesterday (Barclay) and the bite was a little slow. Caught a couple on a weighted pine squirell (brown) and a buddy of mine was catching them on a crawdad pattern. I made fun of him at first for using it, but he shut me up pretty quick once it started producing.
  18. Heard they released some Rainbows yesterday afternoon near the 64 access. Could be worth checking out.
  19. I work at a veterans assistance center on Booneville Ave in Springfield, MO and today I heard that there will be a fly tying class offered to a limited number of disabled veterans. The class (I hear) will begin soon after all of the slots are filled (there were about 6 left last I heard). I don't have a lot of information on this yet but if anyone is interested I would be happy to give you the contact info for the Vets Center located on South Campbell (as they are the ones putting this on) and put you in touch with the people in charge. Feel free to PM me with any questions. Chris
  20. I'd buy a smallmouth stamp if it made it legal to gig them.
  21. Yeah it kinda feels like Haley is becoming irrelevent very quickly. The media says it was his idea to bring in the two new coordintors, but I can't imagine that Pioli didn't play a big part in this. It's just too much of a coinsidence.
  22. Well today the Chiefs announced that they are bringing in Romeo Crennel to be the new defensive coordinator (they fired Clancy after one year). For those that don't know, he was the defensive coordinator for New England during their "dynasty" years, and worked opposite Weis and with Pioli. It sure seems that these two new guys would be loyal to Pioli first, and then Haley as a second. With these two guys in place, I don't think it would be a problem to fire Haley at all. However it all shakes out, it should make for an interesting season.
  23. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4802526 Looks like Kansas City is bringing yet another former member of the Patriots staff to the team. Weis seemed like a good offense coordinator for New England and hopefully he can get back to what he knows best. He ran a high powered offense at Notre Dame, but just couldn't handle the head coach position there. He already has an established relationship with Pioli (in New England)and he and Haley worked together with the Jets when they were both starting out. Hopefully their close relationship will allow Haley to assume the head coach role and stop micro-managing the offense. I think (hope) this is a step in the right direction.
  24. Any idea if they are still running water?
