  1. Thanks guys, Hopefully it drops a bit more by Sunday.
  2. Just wondering how the Niangua is looking right now. Thinking about making a trip up that way this Sunday and was wondering if it is wadeable at Barclay or below the boat ramp at the public access across from BSSP.
  3. Do you still need the $3.00 daily tag like in catch-and-keep season? I have never fished any of the parks in the Winter.
  4. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys also, and getting excited about the trip. No worries on the phone call, there is still plenty of time before we leave.
  5. Never been, but looking forward to it!
  6. Oh I'm definitely in for that! Thanks for the invite. I sent you a PM with my contact info.
  7. Disclaimer... I'm ok if I never hook a fish, just being knee deep in water with a rod in my hand has been enough for the last year. I'm sure it will be enough for many seasons to come. Not much better than doing what you love on a random weekend. I mean you really can't ask for more than that.
  8. Thanks for everyone's support. I would like to start night fishing around November 12 and am game for fishing anytime after that through whenever. Monday nights through Wednesday evening are bad, but any other time I am open if I can learn anything. I honestly will fish whenever after that day. Night, day, whenever I can learn anything. If you are going... I would like to go with you. I just want to fish.
  9. Haven't been on the Niangua since August, but I usually stop at Readings Fly Shop on HWY 64 on my way to the river. They usually have a good read on what they're biting on, both in the park as well as the river. If fishing the Niangua, the is a very productive hole just past the River Access across from Bennett Springs State Park. Turn into the dirt road at the access and drive all the way to the end (it ends at the concrete boat ramp). Wade out directly from the ramp, but keep to the right side as thats the shallowest part. Once you get out into the middle turn left and start walking down river. I actually start casting about there and just keep working your way down to where there is a large dead tree near the bank, on the boat ramp side of the river. The water is fast and deep there and if you work the bottom you really should catch fish. That whole side from there down to the next ripple has always been very productive for me. Good Luck!
  10. Hello everyone, I'm Chris and I live in Springfield. I grew up in Missouri (near Lebanon) and baitfished throughout most of my childhood at Lake Pomme De Terre. When I was old enough I joined the military and served our country for six great years. After I got out I moved back home (or close to home at least) and started back to school. I'm currently a senior at Missouri State and when I get any free time (which seems to be rare between school and work) I like to fish. I have had a cheap fly rod from Wal-Mart for years and picked it back up last January. I really had no idea what I was doing with the thing but still managed to catch trout in the Niangua and at the State Park nearby there. Well I have recently upgraded to a TFO rod and man does that thing make a difference! I have only been down to Taney once and didn't have much luck, because I really still don't kow what I'm doing as far as fly fishing goes. I'm hoping to pick up some info here in the forums and get back down to the lake once the water levels drop off enough to wade below the dam again. Really hoping to get some night fishing in this fall/winter as well. Any and all advice is welcome. Thanks
